On July 1st 1926, the Swedish Air Force was established as a separate military branch. Today it celebrates its centenary! The country maintained neutrality during both World War II and the Cold War while simultaneously building up its military capabilities. This was particularly true of the Air Force: aviation enthusiasts worldwide are well aware of the Draken, Viggen, Gripen, and other masterpieces of Swedish aircraft engineering.

About this aircraft

The J35A Draken is armed with a pair of 30 mm cannons and can carry up to six RB24 air-to-air missiles, twelve m/56D unguided rockets, and a fuel tank on its central hardpoint. It is a very fast and maneuverable fighter but has no countermeasures. However, it’s capable of outrunning and out-turning enemy missiles!

In Pages of History this month, you will find yourself at the center of events that took place in various theaters of war. From France and the USSR to Sicily and Guam: participate in battles while using vehicles linked to these historic battles and get some prizes!

From July 1st until July 31st, you will be able to participate in 8 tasks consecutively. Completing each task will grant you a trophy with a reward, completing all of the tasks will earn you a unique profile background!

Colin Falkland Gray

Colin Gray is the highest-scoring New Zealand ace in history, credited with at least 27 aerial victories. He flew with the Royal Air Force and took part in the Battle of France, the Battle of Britain, the North African campaign, and the invasion of Sicily. Gray was awarded the Distinguished Service Order, as well as the Distinguished Flying Cross with two bars.

You can purchase this player icon for Golden Eagles until August 3rd (11:30 GMT) without completing tasks. To find it, go to your Nickname → Achievements → Pages of History.

Trophy reward for each task

Completing each individual task will give you a trophy with one of the following rewards:

20-50% RP booster for 3-10 battles
20-50% SL booster for 3-10 battles
3-5 universal backups
Premium account for 1 day

July 1st — July 5th

Operation Seydlitz

In July 1942, near Rzhev, German forces conducted an operation to eliminate a salient that had formed during the Soviet offensive the previous winter. Significant elements of the 39th Army and the 11th Cavalry Corps were encircled; while a few thousand troops managed to break out of the pocket with great difficulty, more than 50,000 were killed or went missing. German losses were an order of magnitude lower.

July 5th — July 9th

Operation Citadel

The Wehrmacht planned a massive offensive near Kursk; however, thanks to its own intelligence and that of the British, the USSR learned of these plans and organized a strong defense. The Germans waited a long time for the delivery of large numbers of Tiger tanks and the new Panther model, which gave the Red Army even more time to prepare. The operation began on July 5th, 1943, but quickly stalled, failing to achieve a single operational objective.

July 9th — July 12th

Allied Invasion of Sicily

On the night of July 9th - 10th 1943, the Allies landed in Sicily. Prior to this, as part of a disinformation campaign, the British indirectly planted the body of a man — purportedly a Royal Marines officer — with documents claiming that the main thrusts of Operation Husky would be directed at Greece and Sardinia. Germany deployed a significant portion of its forces to Greece, enabling the Allies to capture Sicily with relative ease by mid-August.

July 12th — July 16th

Battle of Soltsy

Following the invasion of the USSR on June 22nd 1941, German troops advanced rapidly into the country, crushing all attempts to resist them. One of the first successful counterattacks took place on July 14th near Soltsy, 200 km from Leningrad. This well-planned strike delayed the Wehrmacht’s advance on Leningrad, allowing more time to prepare the city for defense.

July 16th — July 20th

Beginning of the Battle of Stalingrad

On July 9th 1942, Wehrmacht Army Group South split up: one part headed for the Caucasus, while the other moved east toward the Volga. Initially, the capture of Stalingrad was not part of the operational plan, but Hitler demanded the seizure of the city, whose name held great symbolic significance. Axis forces began the battle for Stalingrad on July 17th; by late November, they were encircled, and on February 2nd, 1943, they surrendered.

July 20th — July 24th

Battle of Guam (1944)

On July 21st 1944, American forces launched an operation to capture the island of Guam in the Pacific. The Japanese garrison put up fierce resistance; as their equipment and food supplies ran low, they abandoned their bases and withdrew into the mountains, where they continued to fight. The Japanese forces refused to surrender and were almost completely annihilated.

July 24th — July 28th

Battle of Radzymin (1944)

In July 1944, the Red Army was advancing westward at a rapid pace, covering approximately 500 kilometers in a single month. Germany, however, had established a defensive line near Warsaw and, at the end of the month, engaged in battle at Radzymin. This was one of the largest tank battles fought on Polish soil; it resulted in a tactical victory for Germany, which succeeded in inflicting heavy losses on Soviet forces and halting their advance.

July 28th — July 31st

Operation Bluecoat

During the fighting in Normandy in late July 1944, British forces launched an offensive in support of American troops conducting Operation Cobra nearby, in the Saint-Lô area. The success of the British operation pinned down German forces in the region, subsequently enabling their encirclement in the Falaise Pocket.

The World Cup is in full swing, teams are playing their best, fans are fired up, and emotions are running high! To help you remember how to jump and dash, warm up and prepare for matches properly, training events are available for you from June 30th (11:00 GMT) until July 1st (10:45 GMT). In these training events, achievement progression is switched off.

From July 1st (11:00 GMT) until July 20th (05:00 GMT), daily football matches are available at the following times: from 11:00-14:00 GMT, 16:00-22:00 GMT and 00:00-05:00 GMT.

Join other players in a 3v3 event (for solo players), or gather a team together and show off your skills and tactics in a 4v4 event (for squads).

League System

In this tournament, we’re testing an important new feature: a league system. Players who join the event start in the Group Stage but can advance further, all the way to the semi-finals and finals. Here is how it works: results are tallied daily at 09:00 GMT. If a player ranks among the top performers based on points, they begin the next period in a higher league. On the other hand, the lowest-ranked players are demoted at the end of the period, while the rest remain in their current league.

Participants will be automatically divided into groups based on their league: the Group Stage features up to 48 participants per group, the quarter-finals have 8, and the final sees two opponents face off, just like in a real tournament! Promotion or relegation depends on your group results; check the leaderboard to see if you’re at risk of dropping out of your current league or if you’re performing well and poised to move up! If there aren’t enough players in your group, you’ll remain in the same league for the next period.

This is the first time this kind of system has appeared in the game, so let us know what you think! Since this is a trial run of the league system, you’ll earn the main rewards by collecting points, just as before, while advancing through the leagues will unlock commemorative rewards. Advancing past the Group Stage will earn you the “Football League 2026” title. The best of the best — those who win the final — will be awarded the “Football League 2026 Champion” title. Good luck!

Event details

You can see the exact conditions for each task and track your progress by clicking on your nickname and going to the Achievements → Tank Football menu.
The coupons for the “Dragons Flag” and “Tiger Flag” decal, “M551 Football Camo” coupons and “Golden Football Decoration” coupons can be sold on the Gaijin Market.
PlayStation and Xbox players can exchange each coupon for 100 Warbonds.

Match rules

Each match consists of two halves of 5 minutes each. As with mini-football, only pure playing time is taken into account.
If the result is a draw, players receive an additional 2 halves of 1.5 minutes each. If at the end of two halves and extra time it’s still a draw on the scoreboard, victory is not awarded to any team.
To win early in a 3 vs 3 match, you must get a 3 goal advantage.
To win early in a 4 vs 4 match, you must get a 5 goal advantage.

MMO shooter Cinder City may be the first PC game to recommend 64 GB of RAM

Upcoming PC game Cinder City has become one of the first games to recommend 64 GB of RAM.

The Steam listing for the game, which is being released by South Korean publisher NC (formerly NCSoft), was recently added to the storefront.

Set in the near future in a dystopian Seoul, Cinder City is an open-world co-operative PvE game where players fight against mutated creatures.

17 years later, Batman: Arkham Asylum is still the best game for Batman fans

When Batman: Arkham Asylum came out in 2009, I was over the moon to see my love of Batman and video games finally combined. I pre-ordered the game instantly with money I'd saved up, ecstatic that it launched the day before my birthday, which meant I could spend the entire time playing it and nobody could tell me to stop.

Straight away, I wasn't just blown away by the visuals and voice acting (though Mark Hamill reprising his role as The Joker was a most beautiful birthday gift). Straight out the gate, the game introduced a villain that was never particularly popular: Killer Croc. With a new look, and a voice that to this day makes me giddy with joy, it was amazing to see him within the first five-or-so minutes of the game.

But this was just the tip of the iceberg for a fan like myself. The references and characters portrayed in Batman Arkham go so much deeper than Killer Croc.

When I was thirteen I was that stereotypical "nerd" in school. Fandom became a full-fledged hobby, with posters littering my bedroom walls and a huge shrine with artwork, collectables and vintage merch taking center stage. Every convention I went to, I cosplayed a character from a very particular series, and I remember drifting off to sleep every night with the animated TV show playing on my tiny television.

That series was Batman. Not just the titular hero, but the huge roster of corny villains. I found myself getting particularly invested in The Joker and Harley Quinn, and I even remember asking my parents for a Harley Quinn #1 comic that was signed by her creator Paul Dini for my birthday. The Batman series was my lifeblood, something I found great comfort in as an awkward teenager. Arkham Asylum took that comfort and crystallized it in one perfect place.

(Image credit: Warner Bros. Entertainment) One of, if not my absolute favorite things in the game, are the Batman: Arkham Asylum Riddler challenges. After your first main beat-up-the-goons mission, you get a phone call from The Riddler telling you to solve some puzzles for him to prove you're smart. The Riddler is voiced by the wonderful Wally Wingert, and I swear a clip of him portraying The Riddler could wake me from a coma. I genuinely love this version of the character, and it’s a standout performance against the likes of Kevin Conroy, Mark Hamill and Arleen Sorkin.

These Riddler challenges were not only a fun add-on to the game, reminiscent of the old style of ‘Collect all the X to get 100% completion’ challenges from older games, but they also served a purpose of delving deeper into Batman lore and showcasing that, yes, this is a game for hardcore Batman fans above all else. There are several types of Riddler challenges in the game, ranging from collecting Riddler Trophies, smashing wind-up teeth, collecting patient interview tapes, and a bunch of others. But I mainly want to focus on the actual riddles themselves.

Some of the riddles you solve are pretty easy. The first one for example is meant to be completed by anyone and everyone so you understand how this addition to the game works. “Don't cut yourself on this Sharply observed portrait,” The Riddler chimes in my ear. Well, we’re right next to a portrait of Quincy Sharp, the warden of Arkham Asylum. Scan that, and boom: riddle complete.

However, some of my favorite riddles in this game reference incredibly obscure Batman villains that casual Batman movie lovers might not get. These are the kind of riddles that actually make you scratch your head because who the hell is Riddler babbling about?

Say hello to my little friend

I knew Batman: Arkham Asylum was going to be one of my favorite games of all time when a specific riddle popped up on my screen: "You don't know Jack about Gotham. Tune in to find out." At that moment, thirteen year old me realized that developer Rocksteady actually cared about Batman fans and wanted to really immerse us in the world of Gotham City.

Jack Ryder, also known as The Creeper, was one of my favorite obscure Batman characters. To save me going on a long fangirl-ish rant, Jack Ryder was a journalist who had some weird science done on him and he became a villain or hero depending on the story. A simple reference to him within the first hour of the game literally made me flap my hands around and grin like the Joker had just poisoned me with his laughing gas.

But it wasn't just niche characters like The Creeper mentioned in riddles. There's also references to the likes of Ventriloquist and Scarface, Mad Hatter, Calendar Man, Killer Moth, Humpty Dumpty, and even goddamn Tweedle Dum and Tweedle Dee.

And yes, you heard me right, Humpty Dumpty is a Batman villain whose legal name is Humphry Dumpler, and no, we're not going to discuss it any further.

Entertainment) Arkham Asylum packs in so many references that to this day, having completed the game at least 10 times on several different platforms, I get giddy with excitement when I see them. Sure, Batman might not be my special interest anymore, but all that knowledge and love never truly goes away.

I was sitting on my sofa this week re-playing the game and it finally hit me that this was a game made by fans, for fans. Every Easter egg and reference was meticulously crafted for that special someone, somewhere in the world, who might be happy to see a nod to their favorite obscure character in it. Mine was The Creeper, but I know there's probably a person out there who was excited to see even a reference to Prometheus, or Great White Shark.

Batman: Arkham Asylum is the closest we'll ever get to truly feeling like The Dark Knight himself, and I don't think even its sister games come as close to fleshing out the massive lore of Gotham City's world the way Asylum does. Some of these villains may be long gone in recent renditions of Batman, but luckily, they will never ever be forgotten because of this game.

Arkham Asylum is undoubtedly one of the best Batman games ever made, but how do the others measure up?

Hideo Kojima’s Xbox-exclusive horror game, OD, is reportedly safe from the expected huge cuts at Microsoft’s gaming division.

That’s according to IGN, which claims the project will survive Xbox’s planned ‘business’ reset, which has so far already seen it drop a planned fantasy RPG game from Hitman studio IO Interactive, leading to potential layoffs at the studio.

OD remains in development at Kojima Productions and will still be published by Xbox Game Studios, according to sources.

HYTE is celebrating 30 years of Persona with a set of PC accessories that I never saw coming

Sorry for making you feel like an old-age gaming pensioner, but the Persona series is 30 years old. I won't let you linger on that depressing factoid for too long, as PC accessory brand HYTE has partnered up with Atlus to introduce a bunch of shiny Persona-themed goodies to celebrate the big 3-0.

Starting from $19.99 (HYTE), the collab consists of two Persona 30th Anniversary Desk Pads. Both include all the mainline series protags from Megami Ibunroku Persona's Boy With Earring to Persona 5's Joker. Even the mobile game Persona 5: The Phantom X protagonist Nagisa Kamisiro has been included and can be found on one of the desk pads, all of which are available to pre-order, alongside a set of keycaps and an Acrylic Diorama Stand if that's not enough Persona for your gaming desk needs.

Atlus/HYTE Atlus/HYTE Persona fans have been eating good lately, as Persona 4 Revival is coming on Februrary 18, 2027, and pre-orders introduced a fancy collector's edition which included a P4R Protagonist & Izanagi figure. That alone was enough to satiate my Persona fandom, so these HYTE accessories are just the cherry on top of an otherwise already delicious-looking cake.

As big a fan as I am, I don't have the biggest budget in the world so its the desk pads that have mostly caught my attention. Both start from $29.99 (HYTE) and include the full roster of mainline protags, including the FeMC from Persona 3 Portable, who was missing from the Persona 3 Reload remake. Her inclusion alone makes me a fan of these eye-catching mousemats, which are 900 x 400mm and made from a "Silky smooth" 28 SPI according to HYTE.

Their product pages state both desk pads are expected to ship some Q4 2026, however the email from HYTE said "Q3 2026", so I'm not exactly sure which one is correct. If you do pre-order either, don't get your hopes up if they're expected a little later. There's at least no confusion with the Q4 2025 ship date of the Persona 30th Anniversary Keycap Set, available to pre-order from, $109.99 (HYTE) today.

Atlus/HYTE Atlus/HYTE Atlus/HYTE The stunning keycap set includes 113 dye-sublimated PBT plastic caps which should be compatible with the best gaming keyboards that include 60%, 65%, 75%, TKL, and full-sized layouts. But my favourite aspect is how subtle their design is. Instead of just printing Joker's face across the keys, they have a white marbling effect, with small details that pertain to each protag, from Joker's iconic mask to Yu Narukami's glasses.

If you're more into your display pieces (and I get it, as I have a whole Persona-themed display in my gaming room) then you'll be more impressed with the $19.99 (HYTE) Persona 30th Anniversary Acrylic Diorama Stand. It's not something you can use to play your favorite Persona titles on PC, but a centerpiece that includes all the series protaganists together. HYTE doesn't include the dimensions of this stand, but at just $19.99 I imagine it could small enough to incorporate inside your PC build somehow.

While most of these accessories don't launch until Q4, you can get a glimpse on them in person if you're planning to attend Anime Expo in Los Angeles from July 2 to 5, 2026. These upcoming Persona 30th Anniversary accessories will be on display at the iBUYPOWER booth, which can be found in the West Hall (Booth #2342).
