WARLORDS — SERVICE AGREEMENT AND TERMS & CONDITIONS
Version 2.0 · Effective date: 30 October 2026 · Howlerz Games
This is the agreement shown in the game on first launch; you must accept it there before playing. It is reproduced here so you can read it before you buy.
1. WHO WE ARE AND WHAT THIS COVERS
Warlords ("the Game") is developed and operated by Howlerz Games ("we", "us", "the developer").
This Service Agreement ("Terms") is an agreement between you and us. It covers:
- the Game software you install and run;
- the online services that go with it — multiplayer matches, the social lobby, chat, leaderboards, player profiles, ranks and the in-game economy (together, the "Online Services").
If you obtained the Game through a store such as Steam, that store's own agreement applies to your purchase and to your store account as well. These Terms cover your use of the Game and the Online Services. Where a store's rules and these Terms genuinely conflict about your purchase, the store's rules govern that purchase.
2. ACCEPTING THESE TERMS
The first time you launch the Game you will be shown these Terms in full. You must scroll to the end — the Accept button does not become available until you have — and then press Accept.
Acceptance is required. There is no way to play without accepting. There is no "decline" button: if you do not accept, close the Game. Nothing is recorded and you are not bound by these Terms.
If you do not accept these Terms, do not use the Game. If you have already bought it and do not accept, your refund rights are those given by the store you bought it from and by law.
You will be asked to accept again if we publish a materially changed version (see §14).
2.1 WHAT WE RECORD WHEN YOU ACCEPT
When you press Accept we record, against your player profile:
- which version of these Terms you accepted;
- the date and time (UTC) you accepted it; and
- the IP address you accepted it from.
We keep this as the record that you agreed, and we use it to check that everyone playing has agreed. The IP address is taken from the connection by our server — it is not something your game client tells us.
This record is personal data and is covered by our Privacy Notice (§13).
3. ELIGIBILITY AND AGE
You must be at least 13 years old to use the Online Services. If the law where you live sets a higher minimum age for consenting to online services on your own — in parts of the EU this is 16 — you must meet that higher age instead, or have your parent or guardian accept these Terms for you.
We may end access for any account we reasonably believe belongs to someone under the applicable minimum age.
4. YOUR ACCOUNT AND YOUR NAME
Your player profile, display name, rank, match record and wallet are tied to an account we hold.
You agree to:
- give accurate information when asked for it;
- keep your account credentials to yourself;
- take responsibility for everything done on your account.
Do not share, sell, rent, buy or transfer accounts. Account sharing makes it impossible for us to tell who did what, and it is treated as a breach of these Terms.
Display names must not be offensive, impersonate another person or organisation, or be chosen to evade a restriction. We may change or reclaim a name that breaks this rule.
5. YOUR LICENCE TO PLAY THE GAME
We give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to install and play the Game for your own private entertainment.
You may not:
- copy, sell, rent, sub-licence or commercially exploit the Game or any part of it, except as the law expressly allows;
- reverse-engineer, decompile or disassemble the Game, except to the extent the law expressly allows and only after you have asked us in writing;
- remove or alter any copyright, trade mark or other proprietary notice;
- use the Game or the Online Services for anything unlawful.
We keep all rights we do not expressly grant you. The Game, its code, art, audio, characters and branding remain ours or our licensors'.
6. FAIR PLAY — CHEATING, EXPLOITING AND MANIPULATION
This section is the heart of these Terms. Please read it.
The Game is a competitive game with a shared economy, shared leaderboards and ranked play. All of that depends on every player being subject to the same rules. Accordingly, the following are breaches of these Terms:
6.1 CHEATING AND UNAUTHORISED SOFTWARE
- Using, making, distributing or promoting cheats, hacks, trainers, aimbots, wall-hacks, macros that automate play, or any software or hardware that gives an unfair advantage.
- Modifying, injecting into, hooking, or tampering with the Game client, its memory, its files or its network traffic.
- Using unauthorised third-party programs that read from or write to the Game.
6.2 EXPLOITING AND MANIPULATING GAME SYSTEMS
Deliberately exploiting or manipulating the Game's systems is a breach of these Terms, whether or not a "cheat program" is involved. This includes, without limitation:
- abusing a bug, glitch, unintended behaviour or oversight in the Game to gain an advantage — including advantages in resources, currency, items, units, abilities, rank, score, match outcomes or progression;
- duplicating, generating, or otherwise obtaining currency, items, units or abilities other than by normal play;
- manipulating matchmaking, ranked standings, wagers, private rooms, leaderboards or statistics — including match-fixing, deliberately losing ("throwing"), boosting, win-trading, smurfing to distort ratings, and queue manipulation;
- interfering with another player's connection or with our servers, including denial-of-service attacks and any attempt to disrupt, overload or gain unauthorised access to our infrastructure;
- using another player's account, or letting someone else use yours, to obtain a result you could not obtain yourself;
- automating play with bots or scripts, or idling to farm rewards;
- bypassing, suppressing or tampering with the acceptance of these Terms (§2), or with any restriction, suspension or ban applied under §8 — including editing local files, blocking our servers, or using a modified client to reach the Online Services without a recorded acceptance.
Finding a bug is not a breach. Exploiting it is. If you discover a bug — especially one affecting the economy, ranked play or security — please report it to us at support@howlerzgames.com rather than using it. We welcome those reports and we do not penalise good-faith reporting.
6.3 DETECTION, LOGGING AND MONITORING
To operate the Game fairly, our servers and backend databases record and retain gameplay and account activity. This includes, among other things:
- match participation, results, scores and rank changes;
- economy activity — balances, awards, purchases, exchanges, transfers and item grants;
- account, session and connection records, including IP addresses;
- chat messages sent through the Game's chat systems.
We use these records to run the Game, to investigate reports, and to detect cheating, exploitation and manipulation. We operate — and will continue to develop — automated anti-cheat and integrity checks, including automated analysis that looks for anomalous changes in the in-game economy and other statistically irregular activity.
You agree to this monitoring as a condition of using the Online Services. If you do not agree to it, do not use the Online Services.
What we collect, why, how long we keep it and what rights you have over it are set out in our Privacy Notice at https://howlerzgames.com/privacy, which forms part of these Terms.
7. VIRTUAL ITEMS, CURRENCY AND THE IN-GAME ECONOMY
The Game contains virtual currency (including gold, silver, copper and tickets), virtual items, unlocks, cosmetics, abilities and units (together, "Virtual Items").
You should understand the following before spending anything:
- Virtual Items have no real-world monetary value. They are not your property, not a credit balance, not e-money and not a financial instrument. You receive a limited, revocable licence to use them inside the Game, and nothing more.
- Virtual Items cannot be exchanged for money or anything of real-world value by you, and may not be sold, traded, gifted, transferred or converted outside the Game. Real-money trading of accounts or Virtual Items is a breach of these Terms.
- We may change, rebalance, re-price, withdraw or reset Virtual Items and the economy — for example to fix a bug, close an exploit, or keep the game balanced.
- We may remove or reverse Virtual Items that were obtained through a breach of these Terms, through a bug or exploit, or in error — including from accounts that received them indirectly.
- If your access is restricted or terminated under §8, you lose access to your Virtual Items and we are not obliged to compensate you for them.
None of this affects any refund or other right you have by law in respect of a purchase.
8. CONDUCT, REPORTING AND ENFORCEMENT
8.1 HOW YOU MUST BEHAVE
While using chat, voice, names or any other communication feature, you must not:
- harass, bully, threaten, stalk or intimidate anyone;
- post hate speech, or content that attacks or demeans people on the basis of race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, disability, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation or age;
- promote, glorify or support terrorism, violent extremism, or mass violence;
- sexualise minors in any way, or share child sexual abuse material;
- promote or encourage suicide, self-harm or eating disorders;
- share other people's personal information without their consent ("doxxing");
- impersonate other players, our staff or our moderators;
- spam, flood, advertise, phish, or distribute malware or scams;
- share content that is unlawful, obscene, or that infringes someone else's rights.
8.2 REPORTS AND CHAT LOG REVIEW
Players can report other players. Where a player is reported, we may review that player's conduct and their chat logs in order to investigate. We may also review conduct and logs where our own systems flag an account, or where we are required to by law.
We review logs for the purpose of investigating a report or a safety or integrity concern — not to read players' messages generally.
8.3 WHAT WE CAN DO ABOUT IT
The developer reserves the right to restrict features or access to multiplayer if these Terms are breached. Depending on what happened, how serious it was, and whether it has happened before, we may:
1. Issue a warning.
2. Remove or reverse Virtual Items, currency, rank, score or match results obtained in breach.
3. Restrict individual features — for example chat, voice, name changes, trading, leaderboards, the shop or the economy.
4. Restrict access to multiplayer, ranked play, private rooms or the social lobby, temporarily or permanently.
5. Suspend the account for a period.
6. Permanently terminate the account and refuse further service.
We will normally start at the lowest step that fits. But we may go straight to permanent exclusion where the conduct is serious enough. Conduct that will normally result in immediate and permanent exclusion includes hate speech, racist abuse, promotion of terrorism or violent extremism, sexual content involving minors, credible threats of violence, and serious or repeated cheating.
We may apply a restriction to other accounts we reasonably believe are operated by the same person, including accounts created to evade an existing restriction.
8.4 APPEALS AND HUMAN REVIEW
If you believe a restriction was applied in error, you can appeal to support@howlerzgames.com within 30 days of being notified.
Some integrity decisions may be made, or initially flagged, by automated systems. If a decision that significantly affects you was made solely by automated means, you have the right to:
- ask for human intervention — a person, with authority to change the outcome, will look at it;
- tell us your side of it; and
- contest the decision.
We will tell you the outcome of an appeal and our reason for it. We will not normally disclose the detail of how our anti-cheat detection works, because doing so would help people evade it.
9. CONTENT YOU SEND
You keep ownership of anything you send through the Game (messages, names, and similar). You give us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, store, reproduce and display it so far as needed to operate, moderate and secure the Game.
You are responsible for what you send, and you confirm you have the right to send it.
We may remove content that breaches these Terms. We do not pre-screen everything and we are not obliged to.
10. THE SERVICE MAY CHANGE, AND MAY NOT ALWAYS BE AVAILABLE
The Online Services depend on servers we run and on the internet. We do not promise uninterrupted or error-free service.
We may change, update, suspend or withdraw the Game or any part of the Online Services — including features, maps, balance, the economy and multiplayer — for maintenance, development, security, legal reasons, or because a feature is no longer viable to run.
If we permanently shut down the Online Services, we will give as much notice as we reasonably can. Your statutory rights in respect of any purchase are unaffected.
11. BETA, EARLY ACCESS AND PRE-RELEASE BUILDS
If you are playing a beta, playtest, early-access or otherwise pre-release build, you accept that it is incomplete and may contain significant bugs, that progress, accounts, economy balances and statistics may be reset or wiped without notice, and that features may change or be removed.
12. THIRD-PARTY SERVICES
The Game may connect to third-party services — for example a game store, platform services, or hosting providers. Their terms and privacy notices apply to their services. We are not responsible for them.
13. YOUR DATA
We process personal data to run the Game, including account information, IP addresses, session and connection records, gameplay and economy records, and chat logs.
Our Privacy Notice at https://howlerzgames.com/privacy explains what we collect, why, our lawful basis for it, how long we keep it, who we share it with, and the rights you have — including access, correction, deletion and objection. Please read it. It forms part of these Terms.
14. CHANGES TO THESE TERMS
We may update these Terms — for example when we add features, or when the law changes.
If a change is material, we will tell you in-game and ask you to accept the new version before you continue using the Online Services. If you do not accept, you may stop using the Online Services; the rest of the Game continues to be governed by the version you last accepted, so far as that is possible.
Each version is numbered and dated. The version you accepted, and when you accepted it, is recorded.
15. ENDING THIS AGREEMENT
You may stop using the Game at any time, and may ask us to close your account by contacting support@howlerzgames.com.
We may suspend or end your access under §8, or if we stop operating the Game.
When access ends, your licence under §5 ends, and you lose access to your account and Virtual Items. Sections that by their nature should survive — including §6.3, §7, §9, §16 and §17 — continue to apply.
16. DISCLAIMERS AND LIABILITY
Nothing in these Terms limits or excludes our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be limited or excluded.
If you are a consumer, you have legal rights in relation to goods and digital content that are faulty or not as described. Nothing in these Terms affects those rights. In the United Kingdom those rights are given by the Consumer Rights Act 2015.
Subject to that, and so far as the law allows:
- the Game and the Online Services are provided "as is" and we do not guarantee they will be uninterrupted, secure or error-free;
- we are not liable for loss of progress, rank, statistics, currency or Virtual Items, except where caused by our own breach of these Terms;
- we are not liable for business losses, loss of profit, or any indirect or consequential loss; and
- our total liability to you arising out of these Terms is limited to the amount you paid for the Game.
17. GOVERNING LAW AND DISPUTES
These Terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction.
If you are a consumer, you keep the benefit of any mandatory protections and any right to bring proceedings in the courts of the country where you live.
18. GENERAL
- If any part of these Terms is found unenforceable, the rest continues to apply.
- If we do not enforce a term immediately, we do not lose the right to enforce it later.
- You may not transfer your rights under these Terms. We may transfer ours if we sell or reorganise the business, provided your rights are not reduced.
- These Terms, together with the Privacy Notice, are the whole agreement between us about the Game.
