\n\t\t\t\t\tLast update made a complete 180 on the whole premise of the game. In the demo, you had to search levels for good equipment, parts and ammunition while putting your existing items at risk. Since the last update you can buy the very best of the best weapons, vehicles and ammo. Game went from one extreme to the other. It had increased friction compared to the demo release and went to zero friction. Devs just folded at the first sight of public backlash and threw away their vision.

I don't get what's the appeal of the game now, what's the point of underperforming weapon models ? You can just go and buy things like Kriel Aleph, Cut Fifty, Mae Dois, Sarissa, etc. Discovery, trial and error, power progression, risk - everything was just deleted from the game in a single 180 update.\t\t\t\t\t

game is really fun and has a good gameplay foundation but quality is not worth 25 bucks. most of the UI elements are unfinished, icons are placeholder, and if you were coming here from "brigador up armored" cause you like mechs and tanks and vehicle combat. you will be sorely disappointed by what's in here.

outside of the opening campaign and tutorial missions, the meat of the game is a mission based extraction shooter. I very much like this twist in the extraction shooter genre, each mission has its goal but anything you find in mission you can take out with you.

need a vehicle to carry massive amounts of shopping loot? well i remember seeing a garbage truck outside of the police precinct on this one mission, ill just hop into that mission and extract with that. it rewards the observant. the downside of this is youll be redoing some of these missions just for venders or specific pieces of loot and not the missions themselves. on top of that death loses you all you brought into the mission with so be prepared to re do missions a lot to replenish lost supplies (unless you alt F4 on a failed mission, which you will just to save yourself another hour or two of redoing and scavenging)

I'm a bit of a masochist when it comes to games like this so i don't personally mind it but i know for a fact its not worth it for most people. gameplay wise its got a decent foundation. enemy AI is mostly simple and not threatening outside of just having more firepower and outnumbering you, the gunplay is a bit unintuitive at first but with the wide variety i think how they handled it is good, just takes a little bit getting used to. for now tagging this as not recommended, will change that when EA improves to the point that i can justify the purchase for others.\t\t\t\t\t

\n\t\t\t\t\tAlthough this game has a lot of potential, I cannot currently recommend the game due to how much of a time waster the death system is.

When you die, you lose literally everything you bring on the mission, so you are incentivised to balance what you need vs what you are willing to lose.

On paper, this is seems like framework for strategic decision making, but in reality it just wastes your time if you actually die because there is no automated system you can upgrade to get resources for you or make weapons for you later on.

If you lose 200 ammo, you have to replay old missions to get that 200 ammo back, which after a while becomes just extremely tedious and boring.

At most I want to play each mission once or twice, not the same salvage mission over and over and over again.

On top of that, it's just too easy to die. You have 20 HP and can be instantly killed by what I assume is a headshot or high calibre gun. As far as I can tell, there is no direct way to increase your HP or damage resistance.

The first time I died was on the 3rd freelance mission where you blow up some trucks, the explosion of the truck was much bigger than expected and there is no indicator on the screen to show you the radius of the explosion. Although I was annoyed because of the lack of UI information to inform me of the safe distance, I finished the mission the second time because now I know the truck basically needs to be almost off-screen for you to be safe.

The second time I died was during the 2nd salvage mission and this is where I feel like I got bullshitted. I made 10 bandages because I wanted to be prepared, moved very cautiously throughout the map, and held corners while gunning down the hostiles. Then completely out of nowhere, a totally normal looking NPC with a handgun sprints around the corner of a building half a screen away and from that distance instantly kills me from 20 HP with a single shot even though I was crouching. At this point I stopped playing the game because I had no interest in doing more salvage missions just to have a chance at playing through this mission extremely cautiously and slowly again (which you need to do because all enemies bum rush you as soon as you start shooting).

Basically I would like to see the game respect the player's time more and also stop making me play the same old missions over and over. Either death has to be very punishing and the player has to make several blatant mistakes to die, or death has a limited consequence and the player can die easily. It can't be both. For me personally, the time I lost trying to complete a mission and dying is already enough of a penalty to failing a mission without the need to add on additional punishments.

Anyway besides this issue, the other issue is that it seems from other reviews you have to get to a certain point to even begin unlocking vehicles. Maybe some people enjoy the foot combat but I personally don't have a taste for it in its current state and was trying to just reach the point where I can use vehicles, however due to the punishing death system I got burnt out before I was able to reach that point.

My last issue is that the UI basically tells you nothing about the guns, you have to try them out to know what they do. No damage stats, no effective range, nothing except their weight is shown. Even their name is hidden when you have them equipped and you basically need to memorise what every sprite looks like.\t\t\t\t\t

Overall the game is in a very, very early state and doesn't have a lot of content to explore, even after the most recent update. You can play everything there is in about an afternoon. The story content in particular is very, very short - you can finish it in about 30 minutes if you're moving at a brisk pace.

I think this game takes what made Brigador excellent and expands upon it in very interesting ways - it's by no means a balanced experience at present, but the on foot/vehicle gameplay mix is done masterfully, and the moment to moment gameplay feels amazing. The writing, for what little there actually is right now, is equally excellent.

The downside of the current build as of this review is it's kind of unclear what the game wants to be - there's a lot of good ideas in the missions but nothing that's been expanded thoroughly as of yet. If they go the direction of "kill stuff and cause mayhem", that could work, but some of the new missions focus on interacting with NPCs and scouting which feel a bit underdeveloped. I'm honestly reminded of the situation the original Brigador ended up in - a game that advertised itself one way but ended up being completely different once you actually played it.

Overall, though - this game has excellent bones. What little we do have is some of the best game I've played in a long time, and I'm excited to see the direction this team takes it. Weather or not they can stick the landing remains to be seen. I'd recommend it, but let me be clear that the game is currently in a very incomplete state - you're investing as opposed to than getting a finished product right now. Take that as you will - the fact that this game exists in a playable state at all is kind of a miracle, but it remains to be seen if regular updates will flesh out the game's short runtime.\t\t\t\t\t

\n\t\t\t\t\tWith the latest update I can now recommend BK; it's not perfect, I'd love to see some of the difficulty return from the EA launch. The Vinton Villas mission is a bit of a b****h still but now you can arm yourself properly before going into it or just simply skip it.

The sheer brutality of this game is what keeps bringing me back. Watching as I use weapons of war to turn the Police, Gangers, and Spacers into meat-paste brings me such joy.
Rolling over their corpse, spatting their innards all over the ground just for simpler looting. Honestly this game is Peak, Cinema, even at this early stage.
I love it.
The Lore is so good too.
I would like to see some more open world aspects come into the game rather than mission based instances but I suppose the aim for the game is to be a get-in get-out extreme violence experience.
I want to be able to to trade some of the loot I find to the other factions or venders I'm sure someone would want a stack of SMG's and the ammo I've gathered for them.
I'd also like to see friendly companions whether that be mercs I can buy off or combat drones I can build I don't really care.

\n\t\t\t\t\tI think Brigador Killers suffered the same fate and made the same mistake like Half Sword after their Early Access releases, both game demos are well received and yet both game got complains about the lack of the contents compare to their demo counterparts, I get that the developers may want to polish their overall game experience to suit their visions since the demos they got are just like a giant sandbox or some glorify tech demos but I don't think they should hide away the stuff they see in the demos or even in the store screenshots even if it's still an Early Access title... yet I do think both games have a huge potential to be insanely good, currently Half Sword got a lot better since its launch after updates and patches, I am sure Brigador Killers will soon follow suit as well.

Overall I recommended this game despite of the fact there are currently less "toys" than in the demo version, in my not too long 10+ hours of playing of this game, I still enjoyed it quite a lot. Really good soundtracks and aesthetics, intriguing writing (though not that many story missions currently even if comparing to the demo sadly), and lots of gore and environment destruction improvements from their previous title which I really like, gameplay wise you are definitely the same experience as their last game Brigador since the flesh is weak, it's more like a extraction shooter where you need to grind your gears and get better loot to shoot more stuff, the first few hours is quite punishing because the flesh is really weak but once you get through the early game, the fun starts.

Major defects: lacks of contents/not finished, punishing early game where you only got like 20 hp and bullets really hurt.

Imagine games with little stealth element and the enemies instantly know your position and will shoot you out of corner of display. (Yes you can die before seeing your enemies) Put hundreds of them in single map and things became hardcore. Try the demo first before early access ; if you cant withstand the demo dont bother trying early access ; its even more diffcult.
Edit : Terror missions takes too long. Its really boring plus due to the nature of the missions we cannot loot heavy items. No way we will take precious garbage truck to terror missions\t\t\t\t\t

\n\t\t\t\t\tThrowing rocks at people has never felt this narratively rich. The writing and worldbuilding is just as good, if not better, than the first game. The slow and steady increase in your capabilities are matched with rising stakes that complement one another quite well.

Keep in mind this game is very much in Early Access, there's some clunky stuff. In spite of that, the foundation is solid.
I think a lot of the negative reviews didn't bother to pay attention to what this game was about, unfortunately - but to be fair, the demo could have been more succinct about what to expect long term.

\n\t\t\t\t\tThis game is in early access as I'm writing this. It is not feature complete, nor is it close. That's the extent of the cons in my book. I would recommend others wait to play the game until it is closer to finished, I would estimate at least a year from the time of writing this. That may sound bad but there is genuinely nothing like this game. If you've ever wanted to progress from on-foot shooting a rinky-dink ball bearing launcher to fighting in a full on building-sized-mech, that is the promise. What's currently on offer is a fun, casual but tactical top down shooter with extraction shooter elements that lasts around 5-10 hours. It is genuinely fun as is, but the promise of this game is sky high. It's hard to trust early access games but I've played the original, I trust the devs to deliver. If you haven't played Brigador, go check out Brigador. It's incredible. I want this game to succeed, but again, it's very early for the casual fan. If you're even slightly interested, try the demo, play the original, and let them finish the game. If the promise of this game sounds like a dream come true, I highly recommend picking it up.

PROS
- Weapon variety: The original did this well too, but there are a ton of weapons and each feels distinct and has a use case but all of them have strengths and weaknesses. There are objectively strong weapons and objectively weak weapons but all of them have a niche, sound and feel unique, and fit the lore super well.
- Maps: Map design is super solid, again similar to the original. Each layout provides a variety of unique encounters and strategies that will test your loadout and skill.
- Extraction Shooter Elements: This feels like such a natural structure if you played the original but you don't need to play the original to appreciate it. It doesn't feel overly limiting, but creates tension for each encounter that juices every moment. Pulling out a good weapon and a bunch of resources feels great but losing doesn't feel so punishing that you want to give up. It's addicting and exciting without feeling grindy,
- Soundtrack: Not as good as the original, but that's a high bar. Great ambiance and just solid sound work in general.
- Art Style: Not for eveyone but if you like the screenshots, you'll love the game. I don't typically go for this type of art style but holy lord the work that must have gone into this is insane.
- Story: This is both a pro and a con but I'm putting it in pro because I'm hooked. Currently you only get the prologue basically, but the story is genuinely interesting and cool. It's not surprise because the first game had a companion novel but this is such a step up from the original that it's worth mentioning. There are actual dialogue and character driven moments that are interesting and fun to play. It's just far from finished.

CONS
- Not finished: Like I said, the game isn't done. It's far from done. The actual narrative campaign is only a few missions long and clearly far from over. It shows promise but as of writing is not satisfying for the casual fan.
- Promise Not Delivered: This is an extension of it being unfinished but I think it's worth pointing out. The promise of this game is gong from zero to hero, but currently you cannot become a "hero". There are vehicles and powersuits and it's fun, but you won't be able to build or pilot a large mech outside of one campaign mission, and that's sort of the whole point. It sounds damning and it is disappointing but the bones are there. Again, it needs time in the oven.

I recommend it to anyone who reads the description and gets excited. If you're unsure, again check out the demo, try the first one, or wishlist it and check again in like a year. It sounds like cope but it isn't.\t\t\t\t\t
