It's fine and has a decent story, but the writing was not nearly as clever as it thinks it is. The only time I was pleasantly surprised was <span class=\"bb_spoiler\"><span> in the conversation with the Hermit Philosopher, when we discuss the problem at the heart of the Golden Rule</span></span>. The final big twist in particular nearly made me rage quit, because it seemed so pseudo-profound. It still really feels like a Betheseda game in a bad way (it began as a Skyrim mod) and not just because it seems to be using the same engine as Starfield. I really did not care for the extensive dialogue trees, which felt both really unimmersive and wordier than they needed to be. The dialogue needed stricter editing. I did not feel super engaged by the story, instead it seemed like I was talking to characters at random and the story advanced itself without needing me to think too hard. Another thing which kept me from getting immersed was that the characters use too much modern day vernacular. I wish this game had leaned a little harder into how weird and different people in the ancient past were according to modern sensibilities. Lastly, <span class=\"bb_spoiler\"><span> the combat sections </span></span> felt extremely ill-suited for a game like this, but were very obviously rooted in this game's origins as a Skyrim in 6 loops on my own. I got the best Ending on my first try. And i don't feel rewarded at all.<br><br>It should have been a good mystery game, but nope, each loop is pretty much a reset of the game world and you carry over, what you have taken. <br><br>I wish, there was some complex story going on. If you're someone who craves a bit of a mystery, a rich and immersive world where the objective is to find out what's really going on through questioning and learning about others, then this is for you! <br><br>I was immersed almost immediately upon entering the game and trying to solve the mystery from the various clues the characters hint at you. I love that there are multiple endings but not an overwhelming amount, and the gameplay is smooth and satisfying (except for jumping - that's just me trying to jump over things I shouldn't though!). It's such a hidden gem and I was literally just searching the other day for something that scratched the itch of the quality of immersion of Skyrim and RDR2 but with a great story, side quests and a mystery or a puzzle to solve. If that sounds like something you'd like then get into it. <br><br>Also, I paid £4 for this game on sale - which is ludicrous for the quality of content I got from it, especially compared to other games with the audacity they charge (especially at release) often for half baked and shallow games. <br><br>I don't want to spoil anything so there's little I can tell you without doing that - I went into this with absolute minimal knowledge. for some time and I had an itch for some Greco-Roman myth and story and remembered that this was out there. I'm glad I finally got around to playing it. It was more engaging than I expected. Enjoyable story and gameplay and not too long or too short. I also loved the time loop mechanic. Reminded me of games like The Outer Wilds. Can't say I've played many games that use that sort of mechanic. The consultation with actual historians for historical accuracy was also very appreciated. Overall a very good game with interesting characters, writing, visuals and mechanics. and setting of The Forgotten City, as well as investigating the mystery behind what exactly was going on here. <br><br>My only criticism is that the game is a bit janky when it comes to combat (which I find the least fun part of the game) as well as the noticeable loading windows when switching to other areas of the map. overwhelming at first but in first 2 hours is gets really understandable, Honestly once i got hooked in first 30 mins i couldnt put it down completed the game and all 4 ending and bonus ending in a day It was so compelling! and yes i did throughly explore im missing around 10 achievments only so id say 10 to 12 hrs is realistic for full completion of this game.<br>Dialouge and exploration feels and lots of dialogue, so if you're not that kind of person you wont enjoy this game. <br><br>I would not call it a 10/10. You can tell its a small team with a small budget. Therefore some of the writing and voice acting misses the mark. <br><br>That said, if you can look past some of its weaknesses what is here is an excellent package and I would highly recommend to grab it on a sale if you enjoy philosophy/sociology.
