Game was so fun on console with family and friends I just had to buy it on steam to run a few mods. The reason for the purchase on steam as well was to play it with my ROG Ally Z1 non extreme while away from home and it still works great at 720p hitting 60fps with 15w draw. With the new updates to the game, its a total game changer compared to when it was released. Highly recommend this game to people who like survival games with having to manage your food intake, water intake and energy and sanity. The story mode had a very great plot to it as well. The story is incredibly touching, heartfelt, and moved me . The survival challenge is fantastic, juggling several needs while combating enemies, predators and injury creates a survival atmosphere unparalleled to any other survival game I have ever played. How have I waited THIS long to not play this game? Its FANTASTIC.
Its hardcore, but if its to challenging I suggest to play on lower difficulties, I can totally see how the harder nature leads to many bad reviews for players who arent familiar with a hard challenge. Playing slowly and carefully is how to excell in this game, alot of real world principles in survival translate to this game, such as not expending to many calories, always having fresh water, and staying rested BEFORE you get too tired to do anything else.
This game is 10/10 in my eyes, I have had a tremedous blast and HIGHLY reccomend this game to anyone looking for a more challenging and unforgiving survival experience. \n\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\tFor a game released at 2019 i had really higher hopes to be honest, this game couldve taken something from Forest WHICH WAS RELEASED A YEAR BEFORE, i think this game wanted to be a competitor so hard that at the end it actualy flopped. I have occured lots of bugs, i could literally glitch myself into the drug camp withouth finding the grappling hook. Your character has the most unrealistic needs, its like taking care of a 3 month old baby that just needs to replenish nutrients every 5 minutes of real time. After you heal yourself from 3 snake bites, 20 leeches and ONE DARTFROG, you can go to sleep and heal the half of it again.

A huge amount of time is just spent scooping water out of the river and waiting for it to boil. The clumsy UI doesn't help with this much. The rest of the time is spent trying to find specific plants and items. Survivial hinges on having having very specific answers to various inevitable injuries, bandages, ants, antidoes, etc. Unfortunately once you aquire everything needed to avoid death from injury, the weight limit keeps you from carying much food. Base building is tedious and pointless, savages and couger attacks are not particularly scary once you have a bow, and a large base doesn't offer protection from these anyway. Once again it's fine for $3, not particularly memorable.\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t

The interface is clunky and overall a hard game to play just trying to figure out how to get back to doing basic things like lighting a fire....it's somewhere in the notebook. The notebook shows weapons but not how to make them. Thank god it only cost $3 otherwise I would be very disappointed with my purchase.
