That makes it a very hard puzzle to crack, but oh, so satisfying to figure out the details of. It’s absolutely possible to complete Return of Obra Dinn without googling or guessing, but I don’t think many can do that! I had to guess a bit, make assumptions, ♥♥♥♥, even google a few things (yikes!). Not very proud of that, but those few times I did came from me misinterpreting information and being stuck, looking for mistakes where there were none. Overall, not a perfect puzzle (human hands will never create a perfect puzzle!), but oh so captivating - played it over two days; dropping it for the night had me thinking about it untill I picked it up again haha!\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t

Some minor complaints I have are that it could have more QoL features like letting you click on a scene/memory to jump to the scene itself instead of having to trace back to it and walk all the way across the deck again, that sort of thing. It could also give us a little notepad we could attach to characters to note things down, you'll have to do that on your own with Pen+Paper and someway to make sure you note which unnamed character you're tracking.
Advice is to look at everything, the audio is rarely helpful and instead focusing more on what they wear/hold to track/ID who they are or where they sleep/live at.

Maybe I missed something, but there is absolutely no way for you to traverse between scenes from your notebook. You have to remember where this specific scene occured, navigate to it, and click on it for it to trigger. I know there is a map, but it's still really frustrating to traverse there, and then rack your brain to remember amongst all the pixelated corpses which one is the one you want. And if you are already in a scene, you have to look for the dang door to exit out of it first. It sounds small but with so many scenes, a significant portion requiring you to backtrack to often, those small frustrations compound.
The deduction part is cool. Some solution is way too obscure though. You telling me that I am supposed to identify this guy by his *shoes* yet you can't be bothered to make the graphic little more defined and less blurry? And there was another guy I'm sure they want you to identify by noticing that his hammock is only present up until a certain chapter, but the process of backtracking is so much of a pain I ended up just brute forcing him instead.
It's frustrating because I'm sure I would have enjoyed this game tremendously has it just had a little bit more QoL. I don't mind matching hammock to human or identifying differen shoes as long as I have a convenient way to travel back and forth between these scenes. Ultimately I rate games by the question "did I enjoy playing it", and while there were good moments in the game, by the end of it I felt like it was a chore I'm slugging through just to get over with, so this gets a negative vote from me.\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t
