Sometimes you just die because the enemy decided to do 50 damage in one turn and all you have is attack cards. Sometimes, you'll have the perfect build, and still end up dying because any single encounter could be something made perfectly to kill your build. The best thing to do it to not play this game. Even once getting into higher difficulties, and the grind for the next ascensions started, it has maintained it's allure (An ascension is like a "prestige" mode where you can make the game more difficult at each step). The devs have put in a good amount of effort to balance cards and the different characters you can play. I will say the difficulty ramps up significantly at around the half way point of ascensions, so it can get a bit grindy at this point. It doesn't feel like you are rewarded for playing this game - and it also feels like whatever happens to your run feels more randomized than as a result of strategy. I've tried to get into this game multiple times, I had a few really good runs that just ended up from me forcing my momentum to stop as I've hit an immovable object.

\n\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\tamazing game. took me awhile but, i finally beat it with the silent. did not expect what happened at the end but wow, love the community concept of that. excited to see what happens. also, the very last part made me want to keep playing and beat the game on the other chars. lots of dif ways to build a deck and try a run. this game is really all about strategized decision making and good planning/route. the perfect balance of upgrading cards and resting, buying cards. obtaining relics and so on. its a tough nut to crack but once you do, it feels so good and just makes you wanna do it again. 9/10 the 1 point is the balancing for the eagle dude, he just sucks to play. if an enemy has a shield and does high damage its a slow fight while he just chips away at your health. maybe i need to keep trying with him but so far, he just isnt balanced well imo. even with his cool cards that feel good for a little, you run into an enemy thats built like you but, better with bigger shields and bigger damage. other than that. great game and all the characters other than eagle dude feel great and fun with plenty of options on builds. my best run so far was a poison build. poison is op!\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t

It's heavily based on luck when it comes to getting cards that help with your deck building. Relics, curses, and even effect cards that you can use against your enemies offer more ways to create new and strange strategies, all to help you reach the Spire and "slay" it.
At the start, of course, it's going to be very punishing and frustrating because of your lack of knowledge about the cards, relics, and strategies you can develop later on. But try after try, you will eventually be able to win and beat the final bosses, giving you a very satisfying feeling.\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t

\n\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\tWhile I'm posting this review after I decided to stop playing the game due to getting bored, I still consider this a masterpiece in the roguelike and deckbuilder genre. The game has, simply put, an insane amount of variety with the different characters, cards, relics and enemies (commons, elites and bosses), making almost every run unique. Learning the different characters is a lot of fun, but I cannot deny the frustration that comes with it (though I concede it is a part and parcel of a roguelike game). While I have the game on Steam, most of my playtime has been on mobile, and considering combined the number of hours I've sunk into this game, the value it brings for the price is undeniable.\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t
