The refreshed graphics are exactly how you remember the original, the headshots work and the enemies are not as insanely bulletspongy as they used to. There are robust accessibility options and improvements to every aspect of the game, as well as a vault containing art from the making of the original game. The INSANE loading times of the original have been obviously fixed.
There's a bug that makes the game auto-skip the cutscenes but lowering the framerate to 120 fixed it for me.

EDIT: This issue triggered on again between the missions and this time around seemed to be fixed by switching the Vsync off regardless of other parameters. FINAL EDIT (hopefully): Cutscene skipping triggered again after Missle Silo (I think it may activate on a cutscene finishing an episode), this time switching the Vsync on worked so at this point, I think refreshing the graphics settings fixes it until it reactivates. Additionally, cutscene skip is on button press not hold, it's very sensitive and attached to any button, so it is entirely possible that the cutscene skips just from the player holding forward a second too long while approaching the NPC who triggers the scene. Not the greatest design idea. Furthermore, the bug that uncontrollably launches a vehicle in the air when the physics governing it activate (on the screenshot above) occurs on the first use of every vehicle so far EDIT: except forklift for some reason.
It's a solid (EDIT: more or less) Nightdive work sold at an exorbitant price by Atari.
Long story short, if you didn't know that destroying 3 trees in the helicopter intro spawns a terminator jumping down the bank roof on a motocycle you can skip SiNR until an acceptable discount.

\n\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\tRemaster is very very good in terms of gameplay and the such though there's surprisingly very little to basically no vault content like there's nothing when it comes to the Quake 1 engine era of the game though this is probably a Ritual yeeting everything Q1 era of development like 29 years ago and there being no backup that NDS could look in (that or it's hidden in the .sin files which is a different format from the OG's .sin packages). We also know who keeps making NDS releases 30 DOLLARS and it's Atari because of course it is and if anyone high up at Atari sees this

It's a shame it initially released in such a buggy state, but Nightdive has done a bangup job with this release. \n\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\tSiN is one badass game and Nightdive did a fantastic job with this remaster. I have waited almost 10 years for this and it was worth the wait.
In SiN, I've always enjoyed the setting, the combat and the main character duo that have a decent amount of banter.
Blade acts like he is Duke Nukem's brother, saying cool one liners and acting like a badass throughout the game. His best friend assistant is JC, a nerdy dude that likes to poke fun at him and cheer when he does cool ♥♥♥♥. I like their dynamic and their banter makes me smile every time I play.
The art direction is beautiful, I love the Quake 2-engine blocky brush-based levels, and this game has a variety of beautiful maps, like a huge bank, cityscapes, a jungle, a lavish estate, an oil rig, plenty of facilities and such. Level design once again feels like a fun rollercoaster ride. I do think the original SiN had key pickups that were difficult to spot, especially since they are not huge color-coded keycards and I know a few friends that got stuck trying to progress. The remaster highlights the key pickups when you are close to them and I think this is a great way to assist new players.
The combat is fun and weapons are fun to use, I really like the pistol, shotgun and the assault rifle model is super cool. There is even a nuke weapon like Shadow Warrior that feels insane to use. SiN also has an armor system & location based damage that can take an adjustment to your playstyle if you're not prepared. It's always best to aim for the head in this game, and pulling off headshots with the dual pistols feels awesome.
There are also a couple vehicle sections, currently there is a known bug where the vehicles fly all over the map when you enter them but thankfully they are working on that. The vehicles in the original game were driven in the first person perspective but now they are third person and have Halo aim-based steering. I wish there was an option to change the steering back to the original method, as I find first-person driving to be more immersive and fun. I do see why the changes were made though.
Also, there is a hoverbike in the expansion that is exclusive to multiplayer. The hoverbike is so badass and feels fun to drive, but I'm disappointed Nightdive did not make a campaign level where you drive the hoverbike. I played this game in for the first time in 2014 and this whole time I never knew there was a drivable hoverbike! If a dev reads this, this is my #1 request for updating this game - a dedicated hoverbike level near the end of Wages.

If you like classic shooters, you should play this.
If you know the original, then this remake is optional. If you hated the original, then this probably won't convince you otherwise. It's definitely a solid game for the fans.
You are playing John R. Blade a paramilitary police one-man-army badass responding to a botched bank heist which leads you on the trail pointing the culprits as SINtek and its alluring leader - Elexis Sinclair (spelled with an 'E', which I never noticed back in the day, I just always spelled her name 'Alexis' since that makes more sense to me). You also have 'guy-in-the-chair' style companion - hacker 'JC' - to provide mission objectives and commentary.
Some levels feel very linear, but others are more open, containing plentiful side paths and objectives that require you to listen or pay attention to surroundings. This is a game where flipping every switch willy-nilly may result in a failure.
Your arsenal is mostly standard fare:
- fists - melee weapon which is silent, useful for the very few 'stealth' levels
- magnum - pistol, you can dual wield them if you find another (I believe this was added in the expansion, it wasn't in the original game)
- shotgun - it's what the name suggests, perfect for mid-range headshots
- machine-gun - your main workhorse for which you will almost always have ammo, uses same rounds as magnum
- heavy machine-gun - belt-fed, means no reloads, it also had a grenade launcher
- mines - when thrown they travel forward until they hit a vertical surface like a wall, which will make them attack themselves to it; you can detonate them at any point manually
- rocker launcher - exactly what you expect
- plasma gun - this weapon can be acquired as a secret or obtained very late in the game
- silenced sniper-rifle - a few missions give you this weapon and it's perfect for long range kills
One-liners, sexy ladies (and nudie posters...), chunky gibs and lots of cursing.
This is a proper throwback to the larger-than-life badasses of build-engine games like Duke 3D or Blood with the added benefit of the game having some back and forth banter between characters. JC doesn't talk your ear off, but talks often enough to keep up the pretense that he's always on the line.
Banter is fun, JC and Blade rip into each other sometimes while staying mostly on-topic. There is nothing here that feels adlibbed. Elexis as a villain is pretty much perfect, a blend of dangerously amoral and devilishly sexy, speaking in this sultry tone, even when she's angry.
+ Story
I'm not praising it for being unique or anything, but I always had a soft spot for FPS games that try to be more than just a bunch of strung-together missions. This game gives you a nice context for your shootouts without being overbearing.
You could view it as a supervillain story where you are James Bond if James Bond was more like Duke Nukem.
+ Objective diversity
In most FPS games of the time you are just going through maps, shooting things. Half Life did have a bunch of features that shook things up, but SIN has levels where you really need to pay attention to what's being said and map design to figure out what to do.
+ Optional paths
Plenty of times during the game depending on your actions or completing/failing certain objectives, game will put you on different paths.
+ Damage zones
Not the first game to have them, but this game also has 3 different armor zones for you, the player.
+ No game-breaking bugs
Or at least I haven't encountered any. There were some bugs concerning what happens in the testing chambers if you dealt with Geothermal Plant along the way, but seems like those progression bugs have been fixed? That's nice.
Unfortunately, this game is not free of other bugs, but none of them prevented me from finishing the game.
Genuinely weird how expensive it is, costing more than other Nightdive ports I remembered buying. Then again, prices seemed to get higher, looking at Blood, which I didn't get because of the price being ridiculous and already having the previous port which apparently is actually better than the new one as well...
Point is - main game lasts for about 8 hours, not sure about expansion. That's not a lot considering the price, so...
- Buggy
I genuinely don't remember how buggy was the original. However, this game certainly has some new bugs, the worst of which is when you are entering vehicles - they will spaz out and start flying around the ma only to settle after a moment.
I also encountered a turret shooting at me through a wall in the jungle level. Most likely that turret should have been offline if you did Geothermal Plant objectives.
There are other bugs, but nothing game-breaking to my knowledge.
- Inconsistent dmg
Damage zone system will sometimes result in you getting killed way quicker or slower depending on where enemies hit you.
- Dark
On default settings the game is a bit too dark. Sometimes it gives you an actual reason to use flares, but other times you won't have any flares and it's pitch black. You will have to fiddle with settings a little to make those areas be playable without washing-out the colors.
And Half-Life, but that's a boring answer.

I loved revisiting this game. Three of my favorite FPS of late 90s were Shogo, Sin and Kingpin.And Half-Life, but that's a boring answer.

Notoriously rushed out the door, it needed some finetuning, sanding off some edges, and just a little more polish. Well, this remaster does that. \n\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\tAs a froth-stricken SiN apologist who non-ironically thought it was AT LEAST equal, if not superior, to Half-Life when it first released, this is great stuff so far, but needs a little bit of post-launch care. In short, highly recommended if your have even a passing interest in one of the most tragically overlooked gems of late 90s PC gaming.
Pros:
Updated graphics while still matching the original style (and a key-press toggle to swap between them if you want).
A few tasteful modifications to existing levels that MOSTLY fit.
Seems stable so far (no hard crashes).
Player movement, while still very fast, feels far more controllable than the original game.
Level Select lets you tweak variables (unlocks, choices, etc.) Fascinating to see how many things I never realized could impact later levels.
Cons:
Grammar errors in the difficulty descriptions ("less items", "less collectibles"). FEWER!!!
Some level modifications are not-so-tasteful and can ruin the flow or feel out-of-place (extended vehicle segment prior to the Subway, for instance).
Vehicles sometimes bug out and bounce across the map when you first use them. It's REALLY funny sometimes, but sloppy.
Higher skill levels are brutal thanks mostly to enemies' instant reaction times and accuracy, even at very long range. It becomes less about challenge and more about remembering enemy placement. This isn't BLOOD, Nightdive.

However the one main issue I found in the game is that the physics have not been fixed by the time I write this out. You jump on to a vehicle the model and you spazz out for no reason and sometimes it puts you into the air. Considering how long it took to get this game out I'm really shocked that physics glitches are present.
However I am a big SiN fan I hope we get more games in the series like a bran new follow up game since atari and night dive own the ip. It would make bank but thats me hoping for a follow up game to this one. \t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t

\n\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\tI would totally recommend SiN to anyone and especially if you're a fan of the 90's era 3D Realms games like Duke Nukem 3D and Shadow Warrior, it feels like it's cut from the same cloth as those games when it comes to interactivity and letting you play through real world like locations, of course a game like that could not skip out on a voiced protagonist. Blade is a Badass guy to play as and the banter he has with his mission control JC is full of charm.
The way you progress through the game is very uniqe and almost Deus Ex like in places, depending on what you do or fail to do during your playthrough, you might visit different levels, get to them at a different time of day, or alter a future location in some way. There's also a suprising amount of little scenes and dialogues that are entirely missable depending on how you play, adding a lot of replayabilty to the campaign.
The remastering here is mostly great, unfortunately the game as of now has some major audio issues, no matter how much you mess with the individual volume sliders something as some point is going to sound way too loud ( do not play this game with headphones please ) or too quiet, anytime I would fully quit the game and later load back a save, the music would not play until I did something that would cause the soundtrack to change, like getting in a firefight (the game has a dynamic ost), also in some multiplayer maps like Tunnel of Love, the ambient track of the train doesn't loop, it just ends and there is no ambient sound from that point. It's not bad to the point of being unplayable, but it is bad enough to take you out of the experience when it happens and needs to be patched.
Other than the audio, the game looks better than ever. There's a ton of QOL tweaks and additions; the gunplay was greatly improved, and I think the remake is worth a buy for the weapon handling and balance improvements alone. I've only noticed some small interactions missing from the original game, like sinks and toilets are not interactable anymore, and "ambient" PCs no longer make a bloop / beep sound if you try to interact with them.
I really hope the issues that this remake currently has will be addressed, but even in its current state, I still had a blast playing it and I would still recommend it over the original release.\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t

\n\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\tI am very happy this Reloaded version of SiN has finally released after all these years of waiting! It has all the quality of life improvements you would expect from a Nightdive remaster, from touched up visuals (also an option to toggle between the old and new visuals), modernised controls, levels being tweaked slightly for a better flow, a remastered soundtrack and a vault full of behind the scenes goodies for you to gander upon.
SiN plays better than ever before and even includes the option of playing through the base game with the addition of gameplay elements that were introduced in the expansion Wages of SiN (Which is also included in this version) such as being able to use dual magnums and the improved monster A.I.
There are a few minor things that need patching which Nightdive are actively working on such as this weird glitch that causes drivable vehicles to get knocked flying into the air upon running into them and a few other collision issues.
If you love SiN and want a version that just runs well out from the get go with no tampering for modern platform's then I highly recommend this version. For newcomers this remaster sure is a great way to experience this great title for the first time.
I hope this release does well enough to warrant a continuation of the series in some form whether it be from continuing SiN Episodes or something completely original.\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t
