It uses a probability system; the more points you have in a skill, the more chance you will successfully pull it off... if you fail, you might embarrass yourself in front of people! (or you might as well reload your quick save for another try.. but don't do that -_-).
Probability is also affected by few other factors like what your character knows and don't. You can change the stats of these 24 skill sets with certain items like clothes or skill points as you level up.
I find it incredibly stupid when I need to pass a dialogue check but I am being forced to change cloth mid-conversation lol. But don't worry, game is overall easy.

There are 24. I'll only mention a few to give an idea. Drama allows you to tell lies and detect lies. Logic allows you to connect dots. Perception allows you to see things that generally go unnoticed, etc. From Empathy to Endurance.. there are manyy. Don't worry you will understand them gradually as the protagonist keeps talking with his skills a lot.Is the investigation story any good?
It was good and engaging but I didn't find it the masterpiece people were hyping as. It kept me engaged, but the side activities made the game such a drag I almost gave up. Luckily, I pulled it through.. and went through the best ending! My eyes & especially ears almost gave up, because it was too much when 95% of this lengthy experience is all about listening to dialogues on and on.Repayable?
Very. If you want, you can probably spend 100s of hour and still miss content. There are multiple endings, and multiple way you can react to the world of Disco Elysium.I will conclude... if you love reading novels, this is definitely FOR YOU. Excellent VA & narration. \n\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\tOne of the best and most unique Games I have ever seen, it gives you emotions and you give it emotions, the art style is absolutely beautiful, the voice acting's are fantastic, the music is phenomenal, the story is so peak and engaging as well as the greatly written characters and their own story, Kim is a absolute Homie and harry is a poor soul who deserves better, there are so many different aspects, roles you can play, who you can be and not be, and literally be whatever kind of person you want to be as well as sooo many endings and alternatives, the game is so deep it may take some effort to get it over with but if you can deal with the advanced conversations and the extremeeeeee long dialogues for each interaction, its a damn Masterpiece I'd say, like earlier mentioned its just so full of everything and is so artistically and psychologically beautiful and fun and interesting, I wish for a direct sequel to harry and Kim story cause I really felt connected to them, wish we could see the old lady reaction to our discovery too :) and btw don't worry the game isn't too long or too short, its just about right, wont take that much of time so its definitely worth the effort and time, yall won't regret it.\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t

Even in the dozens of RPGs I've played, I rarely paid that much attention to dialogue. Partly because some games subject you to endless walls of text, and partly because, when it comes to role-playing, the characters I create tend to have this attitude of, "Something happened in the world? Cool. Not my problem."
But Disco Elysium...
Wow. Just wow. Good lord.
I don't think I've ever read this much text in a game before. And why?
Because every single line, every sentence, every little corner of this game is meticulously crafted and packed with detail. The consequences, the successes, the failures, the way everything reacts to everything else...
I've had moments like this before. The sheer brilliance of Hollow Knight's map system. The level of realism in Red Dead Redemption 2. The incredible narrative cohesion of Baldur's Gate 2. I honestly wasn't sure whether I'd ever experience that kind of shock and admiration from a game again.
Then I played Disco Elysium.
And I f...ing loved it.
Even though I feel like I've done pretty much everything that can reasonably be done in a single playthrough, I'm absolutely certain that if I played this game a few more times, I'd have completely different experiences every time.
There was a scene in Naruto where Madara declared Might Guy to be the strongest taijutsu user.
Well, I hereby declare Disco Elysium to be a literary masterpiece of the gaming world: a game with an unparalleled depth of writing, a truly unique role-playing system, and an almost flawless narrative centered around human psychology.
You somehow got a man who is practically illiterate when it comes to reading dialogue to sit there for 30+ hours and read like a f....ng book worm.
And it didn't stop there.
You made me love it.
Then you made me feel guilty for not doing the game justice.

Disco Elysium has roughly 1.2 million words, so localizing a game like this into Turkish must have been an absolutely enormous task. Knowing that a 20-person team spent around nine months working on the translation, proofreading, and localization QA makes the quality of the result even more impressive.
The Turkish localization is genuinely outstanding. Huge respect to everyone at Locpick who worked on it. You made this incredible game accessible to Turkish players without losing the depth and personality of its writing.\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t

Bad autosaves make me redo mundane tasks over and over again. The gameplay itself is slow and annoying with an art style that makes it hard to understand where you can and cannot go and what you can or cannot interact with. Put on the indicator if you want. You'll still be waving your mouse around like a moron to find interactables.
The terrain is wack and the art doesn't convey where you're supposed to walk. WASD controls are wonky and there's no button mapping. Constantly running around doing nothing in places you've already been and picking bottles off the street is a pathetic excuse for gameplay. Maybe they should've spent some of that dialogue money on some playtesters or some actually good tracks. I hope you enjoy hearing one boring track over and over again that quickly gets annoying.
It is glorified point and click game that thinks its more insightful and witty than it actually is. The atmosphere, characters, dialogue/narration, soundtrack, and story are all absolutely masterfully crafted to the point where I found myself, and still sometimes do find myself becoming emotionally moved when I come across references to the game in other places, especially its music. The dialogue is often either witty, poignant, thought provoking, or a mix of the three. The characters are all unique in appearance, personality, and voice. The story is engaging, with twists, and turns that keep you second-guessing yourself. Ambience is unmatched in such a way where I cannot give it justice through the words in this review.

Miałem jedno podejście chyba z dwa lata wcześniej, niestety nie pamiętam już dlaczego, ale nie dokończyłem, jakieś sprawy życiowe i po 2 tygodniach rozłąki z tą historią, z tym klimatem, po prostu nie miałem ochoty wracać, wiedziałem że muszę wrócić gotów na rozpoczęcie od nowa.

It’s an utterly unique experience (story? system? tirade? fever dream?) that’s earned each and every single one of its accolades over the years. A menagerie of incredible creative minds pooled together for this singular project. I won’t beleaguer you by gushing more; every compliment I could lavish on Disco has already been said better.

Easily the best written videogame to date - it'll make you sad, it'll make you glad, it will make you feel all right. The non-linearity and reactivity are also hardly matched, and will keep you entertained for at very least for 3 full playthroughs.
The gameplay is innovative enough to not feel like you've played a similar game before, building upon tabletop game tropes but putting its own spin on it with the thought cabinet and skills talking all the time in your head, guiding you in the right direction, giving you more information, or leading you astray. The music is great, the voice acting is highly skilled and sounds natural - every voice actor was hand picked and they recorded at the devs' studio under their guidance to make sure voice actors fit the characters, the artstyle is unique - especially skills' and characters' portraits
The worldbuilding, oh man, THE WORLDBUILDING, it's quite something. The atmosphere is a bleak ruin, that of a dying world on the brink of existential calamity, all of that as a backdrop for a detective murder mystery, with you inhabiting the most unorthodox sorry excuse of a cop suffering from amnesia and harboring a past trauma he has to get over or succumb to. And somehow the writers manage to weave this mish-mash salad of ideas into a coherent, thematically interconnected story. Oh, and it will challenge you on politics and make you ask yourself questions you haven't really bothered to before about where your values stand, but it will also won't stop you ignoring it and going full apolitical and just doing your job. It's definitely not everyone's cup of tea - wallowing in sorrow and depression and coping via weird sense of humour - but it was right up my alley.
Sadly it will remain a one-of-a-kind work due to the founding developers losing their own company to shareholders.

The gameplay and storytelling are truly not too interesting... just a point-and-click adventure game with a randomness element, stuffed full with superbly mellifluous political nonsense. I can definitely see how it could seem insightful to a bright but naive college freshman, but it's really quite tedious. The game has an exquisitely polished veneer, but underneath the grotesque surplus of worldbuilding, it ultimately rings hollow. With that said, the gameplay of Disco Elysium is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ fire. Devs definitely did their homework on everything they touched in their game, be it medical (both physical and psychological) conditions, political themes, or philosophical topics.
