You or you and your friends (which is more fun but singleplayer is still goated) control a nuclear submarine in the most inhospitable climate ever. Doing whatever you possibly can to keep the thing floating while eldritch horrors try to make their way into your submarine. You can take a side in a civil war, become symbiotic with an alien parasite, become a killer clown, cause a nuclear meltdown and explosion, give your friends a fentanyl addiction, give your friends a meth addiction, turn your friends into an alien parasite, "accidentally" shoot your friend in the back 28 times, and even take prisoners. One of the best games ever well worth your money.\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t

\n\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\tBarotrauma is an atmospheric game about teamwork, it's a bit grindy and the missions can drag on but its ultimately satisfying to play. The game could definitely still use some debugging and memory optimization. The graphics and ui are a solid B+. I do wish the endgame was less about inventory management and that some qol things like upgrading chests to hold larger stacks was possible. I also think adding more challenges where individual players on the sub are suddenly thrown into crisis would be great. All in all though if the production team put some more effort into releasing more content, I definitely think this fresh take on co-op gameplay could have a second renaissance.\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t

There are a number of mods to tailor your experience, and settings to adjust your experience to be as casual or serious as you please. I find the game's setting on Jupiter's moon Europa very compelling.

\n\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\tThis game is fun and it's a pretty good game. However, the stock subs are pretty bad, and the game sort of pushes you to get custom subs or make your own. Some of the custom subs are good, but you can't start with them - you have to find them for sale. The gameplay with bots is a big challenge - I've ended up hiring a lot of bots to try to overcome the bad bot logic, but the engineer bot is terrible. Engineering in general in this game is a little weak, but it's got potential to be fun. I wish I could get all my friends to play this game, but it's more of a solo experience anyway. If you do get a full crew of players that could be fun as long as no one is sabotaging the ship. The wiring in the game is interesting and there's a lot of custom wiring you can do. I hope the devs do more to this game, but it's from 2023, so I think this is it. If you get it on sale it's fun, and there is legitimate immersion and fun to be had. Don't let the 2d ruin it for you.\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t

Game runs well, unless there are tons of mods
Make sure to use Lua, and download the client side version (It tells you how to do it in the workshop) It improves performance significantly for higher mod games (Which is very common)

With 6 Jobs, everyone in the squad gets something to do, and everyone can technically do the others' jobs. I've played every Job besides Assistant, finally cleared a campaign as the Captain. Combat (in-and-out-of-sub), movement, lore and the chat system are all something I can compliment the game on. As for the community, I'm sure you'll find some lobbies with an ok set of randoms with a clown among them, a burning nuclear reactor and an Assistant brutally mauled, even if you don't have many friends.
