I downloaded this game thinking I was about to become some tactical operator straight out of an action movie.
Instead, I became a highly trained expert in opening doors, picking up attachments for guns I don't own, and getting shot by people I never even saw.
And somehow, I love every second of it.
PUBG is one of the few games where you can spend 20 minutes looting like a raccoon with anxiety, find your dream M416 setup, level 3 gear, enough meds to survive a zombie apocalypse…
…and then immediately get sent back to the lobby by a guy named "PochinkiPresident" using iron sights and pure hatred.
The emotional rollercoaster this game provides should honestly qualify as cardio.
I've experienced:
• Fear.
• Hope.
• Panic.
• Overconfidence.
• Betrayal.
• Acceptance.
• And several near-heart attacks.
I've had moments where I felt like John Wick.
I've also had moments where I accidentally threw a grenade and discovered that I was, in fact, the enemy.
PUBG has taught me many valuable life lessons:
Never trust a quiet house.
Footsteps are louder than my own thoughts.
The blue zone is not your friend.
Trees are emotional support animals.
"Just one more game" is the biggest lie ever told.
The frying pan is not an item.
It is a way of life.
No matter how many times I get sniped from another ZIP code, run over by a Dacia traveling at the speed of light, or lose because I forgot the zone existed, I always come back.
Because when PUBG is good…
IT'S REALLY GOOD.
Nothing compares to those final circles.
Hands sweating.
Heart pounding.
Two players left.
One mistake and you're back in the lobby questioning your existence.
And then…
WINNER WINNER CHICKEN DINNER.
For approximately 30 seconds, you become the greatest soldier who has ever lived.
Then the next match begins and you're immediately punched to death by a naked guy in Pecado.
Perfectly balanced.
560 hours in, and Erangel still feels like home.

Erangel is washed, it's an old boring map with no real towns or cities to actually fight in and it's always forced in the list of maps. Circles ALWAYS go into no where, only flat, open fields or cliff/hillsides with no cover 9/10 games... You might be lucky to have a zone with 1 building inside. Speaking of the zone, the blue zone now does even more damage depending how long you stay inside and only what feels like 30 seconds between phase 1 and 2 making it simply impossible to move from one end of the map to the other without either dying or burning all your meds. And their argument being that people should fight more inside zones, well that's great Jim, but I can't even get close to being inside the zone. Plus it's also completely flaky to make such a statement and then add 2 new jammer packs?? Being knocked in the blue zone in phase 2 or 3+ is just GG, even if your teammate manages to revive you, You can't outheal the next ticks of damage before using a first aid kit or bandages.
Do I still play it? Yes, because it's the only real BR game out there that isn't full of "modern" solutions to keeping children entertained with cartoonish techno vomit and unbearable abilities. Just an absolute shame that it's full of bots and unbearable netcoding. But if you are lucky to find a game with real players just keep in mind that in 1 WEEK - ONE WEEK - 24 THOUSAND players get banned for cheating; aimbotting, wallhacking, etc. Not even teaming or team killing but straight up performance cheating. It's written in their ban logs they release every week. Not to mention nothing is REALLY done to prevent these players from just making another account to just keep cheating with, except for banning their device... and here come VPNs...
But maybe it's a skill issue, maybe it's my fault for being sniped 356 meters with the S1897 through the wall or the flying car ghosting through my building and running over my whole team, or the guy prefiring around the corner shooting the wall and not realizing his aimbot can't see the 2nd wall in front of him with me behind it. You have the queue time very short and you now split the player base with map selection.
