And somehow you'll queue again.
When PUBG is good, its genuinely one of the best battle royale games out there.
The gunplay still feels better than most other BRs in my opinion. Guns actually have recoil, fights aren't just people sliding around at 900mph and getting a kill actually feels rewarding.
Nothing beats getting into the final few circles with your mates either. Everyone suddenly stops talking ♥♥♥♥, you're checking every tree like it owes you money and one random gunshot makes the entire squad panic.
Then theres the other side of PUBG.
Cheaters.
You'll sometimes get absolutely destroyed by someone and watch the deathcam just to see them staring at a wall like they've developed the ability to see through concrete.
The game can also still run like absolute ♥♥♥♥ for seemingly no reason sometimes. One update everything feels fine, next update your FPS has packed its bags and left the country.
Matchmaking isn't exactly friendly to new players either. Imagine downloading PUBG for the first time and your first proper enemy is some bloke with 8,000 hours who knows the recoil pattern of every gun better than he knows his own family.
Bots don't help either. You'll spend half the match killing people who look like they've never used a keyboard before, start thinking you're actually decent at the game and then immediately get humbled by a real player.
But even with all that, PUBG still does something that most battle royale games don't.
Winning actually feels like winning.
Getting that Chicken Dinner after a proper match is still satisfying as ♥♥♥♥.
Great gunplay.
Great with mates.
Questionable performance.
Plenty of suspicious gaming chairs.
10/10 would loot for 30 minutes and die crossing a field again.\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t

This is easily one of the best games made in the past 10 years, with that said...
Through poor management, cheating issues, poor optimization, scope creep, it failed in making a lasting impact in the gaming community. Yes, there is still an active community but there was a time where if this game had the attention it deserved it could have had the same legacy that counter-strike had with FPS competitive shooters, that's how good the concept was.
Somewhere in 2019-2020 there seemed to be a shift to prioritize micro transactions and the skin market, which basically turned the game into a cheap version of itself that felt more like an arcade shooter. Bunny ears and all.
Then they launched the mobile version which sucked the soul out the game. More skins, micro transactions, simplistic gaming mechanics. The PC version started to feel more like the mobile version eventually.
New maps, game modes, weapons, etc... were delayed for way too long. Performance still felt sluggish even with multiple rounds of updates, it just never got that polished AAA feel until 3-4 years into release.
There was a massive exodus of players who felt like the project had been abandoned and the game started feeling stale and dated. The competitive scene in this game was very fun to participate in, but in classic PUBG/KRAFTON fashion, they decided to prioritize third-person competitive play over FPS which alienated everyone except Asia regions.
PUBG was a fantastic game that has been plagued by poor decisions since launch.
For those people that had been there since beta, it's a total heart break of what this game once was and what could have been.

- The game is flooded with cheaters. I've been run over by a teleporting car going 500 km/h. In replays, I can clearly see enemies aiming at me through walls. The anti-cheat is basically non-existent, relying on players reporting cheaters so they can get a temporary ban or just switch to a new account. And that's only the obvious ones—I can't even tell how many players are using aimbots while spraying AUGs from 500+ meters away.
- The most ridiculous matchmaking system I've ever seen. In ranked, there is absolutely no skill-based matchmaking. While I was in Gold, I was constantly matched against top 10 players on the server and Master-ranked players. It's the equivalent of matching CS:GO Global Elite 30k+ players against Silvers. It's absurd. The system matches weak players against pros so they can get 15+ kills every match and keep ranking up. It's like letting pro's have fun on easiest players since they couldn't face opponents on equvalent skill level.
