But ArrowHead and Sony need to tread lightly with their greed. Right now, they are trampling their playerbase. It's a $40 game with micro-transactions adding up to $300+, if you want to unlock everything. You can get everything without buying any micro-transactions, if you're willing to grind for hundreds of hours.
ArrowHead trying to stop super credit cheaters is understandable. It is their bottom-line, after all. But they shouldn't frame it as if everyone demanded they stop them. ArrowHead is treating the symptom, not the disease. Instead of focusing on super credit cheaters, why not fix the reason people want to super credit cheat in the first place? Make late-game progression fun. Fix super credit farming/grinding. Lower prices of old warbonds, increase spawn rates of super credits on high level missions (instead of decreasing, because of rare samples being added to the spawn pool), add more spawn points for super credits, or reward super credits for missions / major orders / galactic campaigns, etc. Ideally, discourage players from "farming"/"grinding" and encourage them to play the game. Why do I have to say this out loud?!? ArrowHead has so many options. Any of these changes would mean good PR, keeping concurrent players recommending the game and new / future players engaged with a good progression system. More players = more money. People who buy super credits aren't going to stop if super credit "farming" is made easier, just like how super credit cheaters aren't going to stop because you "crack down" on them. You already have kernel-level anti-cheat. They found ways around that, they'll find ways around this. I'd buy the super citizen edition, if ArrowHead would address these longstanding problems.
I've already done the grinding. New players should have the option of NOT grinding for HUNDREDS of hours to unlock everything. They should be able to earn SC at a reasonable rate while playing the game casually.
P. S. Don't make the galactic campaign rewards FOMO. New weapons, stratagems, or armors should be available to all players, especially new/future players who won't get a chance to play in a galactic campaign they weren't around for. A time delay before giving them to players would be fine.
edit: The Supply FRV is coming to all players in October. Great. This should be done with the Hyena Rfile and any other Galactic Campaign Rewards. A delay is fine, just as long as all players eventually can get it. Like the Supply FRV, making it buyable through requisition slips would be a good way to bolster early-game progression to be more fun.

\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\ti rarely write reviews for anything but this game is at the point where a review is the only constructive outlet for all my gripes. i was obsessed with this game, indeed part of me still is (as evidenced by my hours ingame). and despite my thumbs down, let it be clear that i will always want the best for this game and the community. pardon the incoming rant:
with that said, the love i once had for HD2 has been frankly blown out of the water by the sheer bad faith the devs seem to harbor towards the players and apathy towards the state of the game. harmful bugs which have been known about for eons remain unfixed (climbing, stratagem bounce, unreliable hellpod steering, corpse desync, enemies clipping through terrain/structures, etc etc). however, neutral or beneficial bugs (such as the warp pack shuttle glitch or the infinite supply pack glitch) are patched out ASAP. honorable mention to the coyote nerf, which still affects incendiary weapons while the devs swear up and down they didnt tweak anything about the coyote.
balance in this game has been a constant uphill battle. it's healthy for a PvE game to receive balance patches, but it's almost as if the devs balance the game with enemies given equal consideration to the players (see: the sentry/vehicle health buff, and the associated enemy durable buff). this is to say nothing of the baffling instances where the devs' choices enforce one meta over others, despite claiming player creativity is a value (see: the charger leg meta being favored by making chargers turn on a dime, and the removal of the animation where they wiggle their tails in the air after charging) (see also: factory striders and the crisper)
here i'd remark about the game's meta and the stats of our gear, but i'm not quite autistic enough to make any evidenced claim apart from: a meta certainly exists, and any deviation from it will actively hinder you and your team.
warbonds continue to dominate this game's content lifecycle, at the expense of nonpaid progression for endgame players (myself among them). there is no harm at all in paid content, especially for a live service game, but we've seen warbonds churned out for the sake of future warbonds for the game's entire lifetime. weapon customization, while a fun system on paper, has gone without an update for over a year by now, and is at a point where it feels largely concessionary. plus, tier 6 ship modules, at the time of writing this review, have devolved into a dream of yesteryear.
and finally we reach the devs' constant rigamarole of "we're talking about it" and "there are plans" which consistently peter out into nothing. it really feels like theyre giving corpo lip service while hoping secretly for everybody to forget about the feedback they have to offer.
which brings us to the present, and the direct reason i'm writing this review: the (in)famous roadmap, and the campaign system. recently, the game concluded its first roadmap, where some of the deliverables were apparently optional since they were never fulfilled. we were promised a warbond and patch in june, neither of which arrived. i understand that circumstances change, but in the absence of communication (yet another uphill battle), i dont think it's unfair to assume that promises are to be kept.
and the related campaign system - i'm not at all opposed to free rewards which encourage players to log in, but piecemealing the june warbond into the first batch of campaign rewards is frankly a textbook example of monkey paw. if you do the math, it will take circa 33 weeks for all of the june warbond (ignoring cosmetics) to be given to the players, as opposed to being released perfectly normally in june. baffling, just baffling.
the only communication we've received concerning the infamous june warbond since was a random discord message, where a staff member had the following to say:
this is an especially sore pain point, considering the upcoming warbond is a"legendary" warbond which costs more than twice as normal warbonds (considering the 300 SC rebate). in the absence of communication re: the june warbond, one can only assume that the greenlight on 40k justified them "skipping"/AKA repurposing the june warbond into borderline FOMO campaign rewards.
(obligatory sub-rant about the cultists: it's truly boggling why they were shelved so close to the finish line! i understand creating content isnt always a linear process, but instead of adding them back into the game after the current illuminate launched, we instead received a bullet sponge, 2 air units, and 3 mechs, which, although entertaining to play, dont hold a candle to the space warlock vibes the squids originally boasted - will the cultists be added? god only knows! we've certainly waited long enough for cultists, so, regretfully, i'm assuming not. sub-rant over)
and here we are now: a buggy game, several unmet promises (if not outright lies), great words which fail to produce progress (even with loads of time), borderline hostility towards the players, and a clear focus on paid content at the expense of any meaningful new features or added progression.

I read the forums, I'm in the discord. Your recent reviews went Mostly Negative in May over bugs, performance, and progression with nothing but a redundant terminal at the end of it.
Nobody was in Discord begging you to protect the Super Credit economy, because there is no Super Credit economy to protect. My credits don't lose value when some guy botfarms his. There's exactly one party that gets hurt when SC farming gets easy, and it's the one selling SC. You built a revenue protection system and wrote a press release thanking us for demanding it, and the thing we've actually been demanding for two years, "FIX THE ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ BUGS!" was not meaningfully addressed.
I will note your June roadmap prominently included "BUG FIXES." I do not consider this to be a fix in the spirit in which "FIX THE ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ BUGS" was intended. You got your rocks of with the SC, sure, but meanwhile kill counters remain inaccurate, I drive into and climb over invisible charger and impaler corpses all the time, I still get knocked through terrain occasionally, fleshmobs still get trapped under the map and clip through terrain when charging (despite this being 'fixed'), and I could go on for some time in this vein without ever touching unadded features the community has been spoiling for. You think you can gaslight me into thinking the SC update addresses "top player feedback?" We're not ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ stupid, AH.
And the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ thing is, there's a great game under this pile of ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. A competent, motivated, enthusiastic studio could turn this game around in three months. That's what pisses me off. You had the players and you had the goodwill, and you're spending your engineering hours measuring how fast I pick up currency instead of working the bug tracker.

\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\tI wouldn't recommend this game to anyone until the devs get a grip and stop treating this game like some kind of social experiment. This was my favorite game for a solid two years until the nerfs/monkey's paw balancing, lying/vagueposting, unfulfilled promises, and overall antagonistic attitude towards the players became too much for me to ignore. They will quietly nerf something that does not need it whatsoever, and only when people make a big enough stink about it will they slowly bring it back to or slightly below its original state over the course of like 3 patches, all the while buffing enemies to high heavens like they'll stop playing if they don't. They used to put out content like the emancipator exosuit and anti-tank mines for free as rewards for major orders, stopped, and over time tried to slide more and more of those things exclusively into mid warbonds. Them delaying the Helldrivers warbond by months is perfect evidence of this: players were clear that they didn't want content that we used to get as rewards for playing the game (mechs, mines, FRV, etc) to be locked behind warbonds and the devs basically said 'Well, too bad, haha'. Only once people started review bombing them and not buying the Exo Experts warbond did Arrowhead realize their mistake and add the new FRV's as potential rewards from the new campaigns, which itself took too long for the devs to implement as we've been asking for a more engaging and rewarding galactic war system for years. A lot of the new playable content (not warbonds) has been super cool, but here's my issue with that: Pretty much all of this new content was outsourced to other companies. It doesnt even seem like Arrowhead is developing their own game anymore, they're having other studios do it for them while they sit back and nerf the players until people get fed up enough and they backtrack, only to restart the cycle and quietly nerf our experience when things quiet down.
People might say that the new campaign feature and all of these other progression promises are signs that Arrowhead is finally turning it around, but to that I say: Is it really? We've been through this cycle countless times at this point and every time, they fall back on their promises and revert to their Antagonistic Dungeon Master ways. Until they show consistent reform, I wouldn't recommend this game to anyone, which breaks my heart because again, for two whole years, I played every chance I could and this was genuinely my favorite game. I hope things turn around for the better, but currently, I'm not too optimistic. I hope I'm proven wrong, because I love this game\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t

\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\tI want to love this game, I really do, but Arrowhead seem intent on not listening to the playerbase and continuing to make questionable decisions. New content is dripfed at a snails pace while enemies and gameplay mechanics that the playerbase has been asking for that were far enough in development to be playable have been seemingly scrapped and forgotten. Again I really want to like this game, but Arrowhead's ability to take a good thing and let it drag out and make decisions contrary to what players want has made me grow bored of it.\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t
