HOWEVER, this game is still closer to a slop than it is closer to the standard (Librarian: Tidy Up the Arcane Library!). There's no music despite having a slider for music volume (perhaps my own problem), the UI of settings menu is genuinely bad and looks like it's a mobile game 10 years ago. Some ducks are shelved in places that doesn't make sense, shelves with a similar theme not put together (how is farm not next to food/fruits?). The starting phase is annoyingly slow; you start carrying capacity of 5 items.
I've said what makes this game bad for me, now here's things that make it not meeting the standard:
- A good chunk of satisfaction from Librarian game came from being able to put each item on shelf, one by one, with correct order; the complexity also makes the use of abilities feels enjoyable. There are games in which this becomes impossible, as items are of irregular shape (with no order numbering too) and can only be shelved by clicking a single button. This makes me disappointed that I can shelve them one by one in this game, despite all ducks share the same geometry.
- The developers of these sloppy games seem to forget that the entire tidy up games genre consists of really simple mechanism, and is often very very repetitive. Yes, that's what we players ask for, but that doesn't mean we care no details. There are literally 3 places where you could enhance it: item design, item names, and store ("library") design. You nailed the first one, but kinda forgot the other two. The store is too generic; if you take away all the ducks, the store design is too bland and could literally sell anything.
Two smaller issues:
-- Ideas for ducks seem to run out, and they just slap in two colors of the same design, like green or purple alien ducks. There's no way you can't be more creative than this?

Sort away plastic ducks with the usual formulaic upgrade pattern, gives me something to do for a few hours for a low price tag; however, upon entering the game, I hit a huge problem: the assets. Among them are multiple racist caricatures of cultures including names such as "Chief Feather" (sticking a duck in a ceremonial headdress with a peace pipe, classy), "Snake Charmer" (dressed with a white turban and all), and "African Warrior" (wooden shield with an appropriated, probably not even real tribal graphic, and spear with beads and a diagonal red cloth) to name the few that completely put me off from playing any longer.
While I cannot substantiate the AI claims (I couldn't bear to play very long due to the above reason), it would not surprise me and, if true, is incredibly shameful of the developer to use.
I wish I would have played on purchase to be able to get a refund, but now I have to live with having put $6 in a racist (and possibly pro-GenAI) sorting game :/

To the Devs: if you see this, is there any way to make the player stop "settling" after you sprint to a spot? In all the games like this I play (and I play so many of them), I run up to a shelf and quickly drop things off before moving on, there's a nice flow state to it, and the one thing that drives me crazy about this game is when you stop running, the shelf you're aiming for is no longer the shelf you're aimed at bc your character lowers itself some (aka "settles"), which is honestly so weird. It really does break the flow of just going from shelf to shelf quickly bc I have to wait for the character to do that weird thing so I can see where it's aiming, otherwise, if I try to quickly set it on the shelf as I'm approaching it, it just falls to the floor bc it wants to settle first. Or at least make it a feature we can toggle off? That alone makes it hard for me to want to continue playing and it's frustrating bc I DO actually want to play it, I just don't want to put up with how much that feature is annoying.
Back to the review: this game is brand new so with how games are these days, bugs are to be expected, and this game is no exception. But the dev is putting out fairly frequent updates which I appreciate. Honestly the best thing about this game is just getting to see the design of all the different rubber ducks. Thy are great and so freaking adorable. It's a sorting game and if those scratch your itch, this one *should* be enjoyable for you too. If the issue with the player movement after you run is either fixed or made an option to turn off, I will come back and give this a "yes" for recommendation. It may seem dumb to some to not recommend it off this one thing that's driving me crazy, but if it's the one thing that's significant enough to me that I have to literally talk myself into putting up with it just so I can finish the game, I can't in good conscious say a resounding yes you should get it.

\n\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\tIt's an entertaining cozy game like all of the other "sort things on shelves" type of games. For the must part, the ducks are quite cute. It's unfortunate they use the generic terms "Native" and "African" to describe the warriors. It would be better to pick a specific nation in those situations. Say Lenape or Comanche or Zulu Warrior, get more specific. Celebrate the cultural diversity instead of lumping all Indigenous into one group. They don't just have "European" Warrior, they specify regional differences. Devs need to be more sensitive about pushing these stereotypes when it comes to Indigenous and African peoples.\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t
