\n\t\t\t\t\tI like how it does something different than the hundred other sorting games out now. I initially like the puzzle mechanic for putting the potions on shelves, and you can't just throw them anywhere. However, I'm almost done with 2 colors so far with only like 3 unique puzzles left to solve from the two, and already it feels super samey and repetitive. And there's so many colors left to do still. I can't imagine spending hours placing the rest and still having a good, fun time.

The gameplay & abilities aren't like super incremental style. Like yeah, I can automatically pull potions to me a little faster which helps, but I still need to place them manually on the shelf according to the puzzle rule. While you can keep the solution on screen while you're shelving, that info box is incredibly tiny! I was playing on steam deck in dock mode on a large TV maybe 6ish feet away, but it still shouldn't have been that super small to try and see. I did load the game in handheld mode to see if it made a difference and that solution box is still insanely tiny, even with the game literally less than a foot from my face.

I like the idea, but some of the puzzles already annoyed me to solve the first time. Like the moon puzzle, i ran back and forth so many times trying to figure out which pieces were wrong. And the gray shape puzzle. Which it is IMPOSSIBLE to see the solution in that tiny pop up box. And even the potion bottles, it incredibly hard to try and differentiate the shapes and when they all look relatively the same basic pentagram/hexagonal shapes just with slightly more lines/angles to each one, but the pictures are very small its almost impossible to tell what # its supposed to be. (Even zooming in closer on the bottle itself does nothing to tell any better) Not like the animal/item pictures or the colored boxes puzzles, which are easily identifiable. If the gray shapes also had a unique pattern or color borders or something to make it slightly more accessible, it would very much improve it.

I feel improving the solution UI would fix a lot of my issues with the game. Being able to easily see what I already solved would go a long way to shelving the other colors faster. Instead it feels like solving the same puzzles over and over.\t\t\t\t\t

But it misses part of what makes these tidying games fun- the acceleration, the power fantasy of flinging around books/whatever faster and faster as you gain more power. I finished unlocking abilities when 5 of the sections were done... out of 13. With minute long cooldowns, and still having to squint real hard to match the patterns of the puzzles I'd already solved.
After finishing the 6th section, I looked at the remaining 7... and I don't want to finish. I dunno, this just doesn't drip the rewards quite right, imo, especially with the friction around the more abstract puzzles/orders. It's a legitimately clever idea, but becomes unfun.\t\t\t\t\t

This game looked like a tidy up relaxing game but actually its number one tag should be 'puzzle' or 'quest' While demo puzzles are laughably simple, the shop itself is overwhelming. Wandered there for 10 minutes without a slight idea where to start. The game is by all means very well made, like the graphics, atmosphere and the feel but, again, I came here not to brainstorm puzzles but to relax which is impossible from the get go. I recommend this game for ppl who like to solve puzzles in the first place, because this is a puzzle with tidy up theme.\t\t\t\t\t

\n\t\t\t\t\tI enjoyed this game, liked the vibe, the cats, the puzzles... I do want to share two quick tips that I'm sure a lot of us figured out as the game progresses, but I don't think I remember being told about in-game. If the tips are there, I must have missed them. One of which I figured out by accident when I had literally 3 shelves left in the entire game and I got, quite honestly, really REALLY annoyed.

First, if you use the collection spell (the one that pulls similar potions to your hand) then it will start with the first in the sequence and grab them sequentially. (e.g. if you have potion labeled 3 in your hand, use the spell, your hand would contain 3, 1, 2, 4, 5.) If you can find the first of a sequence, this can make some of the more difficult to remember sequences (flowers and moons for me) quite a bit easier to push past.

Second (and this the one I figured out by accident, and makes the previous tip way less helpful/necessary), once you have figured out a puzzle you can press tab to show the correct sequence for the active potion in your hand across the bottom of the screen. It's much more legible/larger than the comprehensive sheet you can access by hitting esc. No need to keep opening and closing the reference sheet, squinting to count itty-bitty leaves on the flowers , and repeating that cycle.

Finally, I would add that I have played about 8 of these types of games now, and this one is up there with Librarian (still my fave), and Shelves and Sorcery (maybe my second fave?). They all have a tipping point where there is no more leveling up and they become just a gathering game. I will throw out there that, while I admire the decisions to really pace the leveling, that tipping point comes a bit earlier in this game than I would like, and it felt like a loose end to only have the gather-like-potions spell grab cap out at 5 potions. I would have enjoyed seeing it go all the way up to 7, with perhaps increasing cost as the limit grows. This would also make it feel like I was still working toward something as I continued placing potions correctly.

Overall, I really enjoyed it and will look for more from this dev in the future.\t\t\t\t\t

\n\t\t\t\t\tWhile it's a beautiful game, with zero AI influence, and the added puzzle element is an interesting twist on the genre, many of the puzzles are either hard to memorize, or hard to enact, once you know the answer. Most of the puzzles have two phases -- figuring out the pattern (this is generally quite enjoyable), and then trying to sort the potions according to that pattern (which is where everything falls apart). That's the part of the puzzle that's hard because you can't tell the pieces apart at a glance, or because you have to do the equivalent of enter an 8-digit code manually.

There's 13 colors of potions, each of which has 16 shelves of 8 potions and 4 shelves of 5 potions. All of the puzzles for the 5-potion sets are enjoyable and easy to memorize solutions to, so they aren't the problem. The problem is some of the sets of 8 potions. Keep in mind that each of these puzzles, you'll be repeating verbatim 4-8 times, for different potion colors.

Everything below this point is spoilers.

Examples of not-so-good puzzles:
- Memorize an arbitrary sequence of 8 things (8 chess pieces including color, 8 playing cards, 8 elements, 8 types of weather, 8 ingredients, 8 music notes, 8 runes, 8 storybook locations, etc). Keep in mind that the human brain can usually hold 4-7 pieces of information in mind at once comfortably, so for the full sequence you're either going to have to write it down physically or open up your menu cheat sheet 1-2 times per shelf. Figuring out the sequence can be fun; remembering and using it is not. Especially since there are so many puzzles like this going on at once.
- Sort polygons by number of sides, including telling the difference between 6, 7, 8, 9, and 10 sided polygons at a glance. They aren't very visually distinct, you have to count sides manually every time. This puzzle would have worked better if it only covered 3/4/5/6/7, or even 1/2/3/4/5 utlizing a circle and a pointed ellipse. Or even if there was a star drawn between the points, or some other unique decorative elements or colors for each number of sides, so you can tell them apart once you know which is which color...?
- Animated sequences that did not have to be animated: Stare at a spinning clock or compass, or a series of music notes or moon phases, and try to write down the entire sequence in order before it speeds past. Also, potions with 1-8 floating baubles circling around them, that go BEHIND the potion bottle's neck, and overlap with neighboring ones when held in your hand. It takes several seconds per potion just to see what you're looking at, and count 8 things. It's very visually busy in a way that it did not have to be. This would work MUCH better as a 5-potion set -- both so that the animated sequences aren't as long, and so that you don't have to visually identify 8 vs 7 floating sims plumbobs in motion.
- A sequence of 8 flowers that vary mostly by number of leaves -- but when the potion is in your hand, the full flower is the size of a single letter of on-screen text, and only a third of that is leaves. Squint for it. Especially if it's on one of the smaller bottles (I'm looking at you, brown). Flowers that had different blossoms, silhouettes, and more than 2 colors would have been easier to tell apart at that resolution.
- Take the potions across the room to the macguffin that will print numbers on them to tell you the sequence. This one is kind of fine, mostly, aside from the fact it's very easy to get turned around in the potion shop, and it gets very repetitive after the fourth or sixteenth time. Especially if you saved all the puzzles for the end, so you could figure out the answer to each memorization puzzle once and then enact it. Don't do that, by the way. Doesn't help.

I did actively enjoy some of the puzzles, though, even for the 8-potion sets. The one that's basically roman numerals was actually a lot of fun; once you spot the pattern, you can work out where each one goes without memorizing anything. Also the ones where it's simple logic -- biggest to smallest, empty to full, rainbow order, numbers on the potion, etc. Most of those are 5-potion sets, coincidentally. The ones that just already have a number printed on them are fine, they don't interfere with shelving.

So -- what would have helped?
- A powerup or accessibility option that displays the solution to the current puzzle on-screen (if you have the solution unlocked already), without you having to go into and out of the menu constantly. Ideally toggleable.
- A powerup that puts potions from your inventory onto the shelf, if you are looking at a correct shelf, and have the solution to the puzzle recorded in your log. That means you've already done it the hard way once.
- Adjusted art for the polygons and flowers to improve legibility.
- Change the floating plumbobs, clock, compass, and moon phases to be 5-potion sets; that's enough to only need to change 1 piece of furniture per color.
- Consider changing the potions with 1-8 things floating in them to also be a 5-potion set -- either alongside 3 more of the memorization puzzles, or in place of the music one. The music puzzle could easily be replaced with a shortest-to-longest note size puzzle, similar in theme.

\n\t\t\t\t\tUltimately I don't think this game does enough with how it attempts to set itself apart and it makes for an overall worse experience.

The biggest problem is unfortunately its main selling point: the puzzles. There just aren't enough of them to justify them as a function. You've solved them all by the second or third color of potion you've filled out, and then you just spend the rest of the time squinting at labels and the reference list to put them in the arbitrary order demanded of the puzzle, never really getting into a groove the way you can simply shelf away a numbered set. Well, with the exception of the actual numbered sets, but that gets into a secondary complaint that having to run around to trigger the props over and over also gets tedious... and then on the exact opposite end are the floating items and the shape sides, which have to be carefully inspected every single time because it's simply not possible to correctly identify where in the group most of them are at a glance.
The puzzles are also fixed, which I thought was strange. I expected at least the ones with random glyphs to be shuffled on my subsequent playthrough, particularly since the game resets your solutions list, but when I realized everything was in the same order it felt like the point was lost and now I just had to make friends with the reference overlay again. Setting it to toggle instead of hold didn't even feel like an accessibility concern so much as just a reduced hassle since I'd pretty much always be using it.
Exacerbating this issue is the existence of an achievement to get a hint from the cats. On my first playthrough, I was determined to find the answers myself, and on the second, because they're the same, I already knew all the answers and didn't need to ask. By the time I realized I still needed the achievement, the puzzles were all solved again and I would have to start a third playthrough and intentionally sandbag my performance to reach the filled shelves quota before the hint ability opens while avoiding at least one puzzle. I'm not really an achievement hunter, so I think I'll just not bother, but that seems like a silly situation.

Magic feels bizarrely weak in this game. Many Library players, myself included, had the concern that magic basically plays the game for you past a certain point, but this game countersteered far too hard to the point it was hardly faster than a no-magic run. One of the few things I did like about Library's magic was that the reactivatable duration effect of the highlight spell meant if used carefully you could go through several small sets of books in one cast, significantly improving efficiency before the other spells powered up. However, since the highlight spell here just targets your current potion once and then goes on cooldown, it's functionally identical to the gather spell except slower. For me at least, I was already grabbing off the ground based on the color anyway, so I don't really feel like it saves you anything. I guess that's a side effect of the relationship between shelves and puzzles. But because of that, it didn't feel like there was any strategic element to using the spell. And finally, the incomplete shelf highlight spell just seems totally pointless. It just adds a ton of visual noise for virtually no benefit, a bizarre inversion of having a spell that shows you where you do have to go. Past all that, an automatic shelving spell would have significantly eased the tediousness of the already solved puzzles, yet no such thing exists. Sorry for the constant comparisons, but I don't think it's avoidable here.

In the end it took me about six hours to finish the game with no magic the first attempt, and another three with magic after that. Which isn't really much of a gap, especially if accounting for the time saved not having to solve the puzzles again. The rest of the hours were paused and away working. I think, honestly, if I had used magic the first time and realized sooner how rapidly the puzzles become irrelevant while still slowing you down, I would have refunded the game. Instead I made that observation too late and saw it through, but it wasn't really worth the time.
I'd also like to conclude by saying that having an ending where your boss comes back and tells you you wasted your time doing something you didn't have to because they would have fixed it anyway didn't really help my final thoughts. I'm not so fragile that I need positive reinforcement and to be praised and told I did a good job or anything, but it felt lame and if it was trying to be funny I didn't laugh.

Oh yeah, I forgot to also include one of my other complaints: This game's soundtrack sucks. That is to say, the single song that plays for your entire runtime isn't great. No sugarcoating that one, sorry.\t\t\t\t\t

The "organize all the thingies" genre has absolutely exploded recently, and a lot of devs seem to have made the (in my opinion) wrong assumption that "more thingies" automatically means "better game". But there comes a point where there's so many thingies that organizing them all just becomes a slog rather than an enjoyable cozy experience. We need something more than that.

With THIS game, each shelf of potions has IT'S OWN LITTLE PUZZLE TO SOLVE! Like, instead of just saying "here's the red shelf; put the red potions on the red shelf; done", each shelf of red potions has an environmental puzzle that needs to be solved in order to determine the correct ORDER for the potions on the shelf. It's fantastic! It keeps the "organize the thingies" idea fresh, and the puzzles are all accessible enough that you don't need to be the president of MENSA to understand them.

PLUS THERE ARE KITTIES AND ONE OF THEM WAS NAMED AFTER *MY* KITTY (woooooooo Athena!)

All that to say, this is a fantastic entry in this particular genre. Absolutely grab if you like organizing things and you're looking for some much-needed variety!\t\t\t\t\t

I did experience a few bugs that were thankfully fixed by exiting the game.
Sometimes bottles would merge together and get placed on the shelf, hiding a bottle or making an unfillable empty space on a shelf.
My other gripe is that I must have accidentally hit the skill button...just once...during my playthrough locking me out of the achievement. I am honestly not a fan of these kinds of achievements, since I normally only play a game like this once and it makes unlocking any skills pointless for me.
But thankfully, there were no speed run achievements, I hate those most of all, and all of the others were fun to work towards.

The cats make it feel not as lonely as other organization games. It was nice having some other presence.

But within the first 2 sections of potions, you've figured out all the puzzles. Then the next 10 (or however many) sections of potions, you're just picking up potions, holding down tab to bring up the potion order, putting them on the shelf in the order listed, and moving on to the next. It went from super cool to super boring in basically no time. But it's cheap, so if you just want to mindlessly put away potions without any thought or effort, you might still like this one.\t\t\t\t\t

\n\t\t\t\t\tI've quickly become obsessed with the concept of these tidying/organizing games, but it really saddens me just how many of them use generative AI, even if it's "only" for small things like concept art or titles of in-game objects. I was so excited to see this game's staunch anti-AI stance, and the gameplay does not disappoint.

I highly recommend the demo if you're unsure if this game is for you. It runs you through the game's tutorial, which is adorable and intuitive, without any pesky HUD interruptions or overly explained mechanics. It's a perfect example of what is to come, which is...well...hours and hours of tidying. But it's not just shelving things wherever you think they might go. I really enjoyed that this game had small puzzles involved to make the mostly monotonous task of shelving bottles feel a little more like a mystery to be solved!

\n\t\t\t\t\tOnly played a little so far but this is a pretty welcome innovation to the new genre of organizing shelves lol. The puzzles are fun and interesting to solve, making it feel a little more like a point and click game than just a "clean up the floor" game. More effort was put into this than many of the other Arcane Library rip-offs so I encourage people to support this if we want to see more innovation in the genre.\t\t\t\t\t
