\n\t\t\t\t\tIt’s a good game, but there are a few issues: synchronization between players is poor—people constantly fall through the map or simply get kicked from the lobby without any error message. There’s also a problem with finding servers; for instance, if a friend finds a server and I try to join it, I’ll set my search parameters exactly the same way, yet that specific server doesn't show up (even though it isn't full), and this can drag on for ages. Why not just implement a "join via Steam friends" feature? (Edited on July 13, 2026: a few days after I wrote my review, the ability to join matches via Steam friends was added, along with improvements to overall game stability and matchmaking based on player-set filters.) The server browser is janky and doesn't always work properly, there's no way to customize keybinds, inviting friends is a hassle, and the paint UI is complicated. Despite all of that, for the extremely low price, it's actually so fun. The game is way more entertaining than I expected and it's the perfect rendition of a hide and seek/prop hunt type of game with its own simple but unique aspect.\t\t\t\t\t

- Cannot accept invites from friends and join the server they are in whether it's public/private server.
- Really hard to find the same server to play with friends. Took me and my friends over 10 minutes to just find a server we all could join together since invites don't work.
- Many places you can hide are just straight up should be pretty illegal. Many people hid in spots behind items and painted themselves black. Was really hard to even see them.
- I don't personally care about this but this game has 0 censorship and many slurs were seen throughout the games server and player names. There is no setting for any sort of moderation to turn on to not see these things.
- With any free drawing game, you should expect to see many inappropriate things, which I did. A lot. Many inappropriate symbols were drawn. Again, I don't personally care but something people should keep in mind, especially if they are letting their kids play this.
- Whistling should add points to your hidden score but it does not, no matter how close or far the seeker is from you.
- UI is very hard and not that easy to maneuver. I found myself countless times having to look over to the side of my screen for the controls on which buttons to hit. I kept messing up the controls.
- No undo button so if you paint yourself the wrong color, you better color over it fast.

Things I enjoyed:
- The actual premise of the game. Just playing it was really fun despite the many issues which are all pretty small.
- Not being able to see other hiders until you are a seeker. Allowed for actually having to find the people rather than just finding them on free cam or early game then dying and going back to where you saw them before.
- Creative. This game really does make you creative and there were many spots I found others hiding in at the end of the game that I used in later games.
- Short rounds (that I believe you can modify). Made the game flow really well.

\n\t\t\t\t\tI bought a hide and seek game. I did not expect to spend the next three hours having an existential crisis about whether I'm looking at a radiator or a person. And yet here we are.

The concept is stupid simple and absolutely genius: you paint yourself to blend into your surroundings before the hunters come looking. That's it. And somehow this turned me into a sweaty mess hunched over my monitor squinting at wall textures like I'm defusing a bomb. I spent a full minute perfectly matching the color of some office carpet, felt like an absolute artist, then got found in four seconds because I forgot my shadow exists.
The funniest part is how quickly your confidence evaporates. Round one you're thinking "this is easy." Round two you're frantically slapping beige paint on yourself while the timer counts down. Round three you've somehow painted yourself bright pink by accident and you're just accepting your fate in the middle of the room hoping they'll think you're modern art.

Playing with friends turns this into something genuinely special. There is no better feeling than watching your friend spend two minutes on a masterpiece camouflage job and then get spotted immediately because they picked the wrong wall. The screaming. The betrayal. Incredible.

For five dollars this is one of the best times I've had this year and I will be forcing every single person I know to buy it.

For the price, it's genuinely hard to find something this fun. I went in with low expectations and ended up completely hooked. It's one of those games where you say "just one more run" and suddenly two hours have gone by.

The gameplay is easy to understand, but somehow manages to be incredibly addictive. It has that perfect balance of fun, chaos, and moments where you feel like a genius... right up until you fail spectacularly 30 seconds later.

The best way I can describe this game is: it costs less than a fast-food meal and has given me more hours of entertainment. Honestly, I've made far worse purchases with far fewer "chameleons" involved.

I thought MECCHA CHAMELEON would be one of those games, but its really really fun. Its such a simple concept- what if you were playing prop hunt but instead of choosing props to disguise yourself as, you had to paint yourself? You might think it would be easy for the hunters to find everyone as they stick out from the walls, but it's a lot harder than it looks. There's only a handful of poses for the hiders to use so you really have to get creative, the limitations makes hiding a lot more interesting. Steam workshop support makes it feel endlessly replayable, just need to wait for it to get more good maps. We played Counterstrike Office and I hid as an icicle hanging off of the awning and somehow didn't get found. Super fun game with friends, would recommend\t\t\t\t\t

Once you get used to the controls and a good idea of what your group looks for, you can do a lot of really silly things in this game. I think this game's success comes from a few factors: there are no multiplayer achievements (or achievements at all), it's simple and it's something anyone can join in on and understand pretty quickly. And there are quite a few really good fanmade maps that keep the game interesting, and the game also gives you the ability to quickly download any maps you might not have during the game so no one has to worry about leaving the lobby to download anything/subscribe to Steam Workshops.
