I used to really enjoy Zenonia on mobile, and nostalgia is probably doing a lot of the heavy lifting here. Still, it’s nice to play it again. The controls feel almost exactly like I remember them. They’re a bit slow and stiff, but that doesn’t really bother me. If anything, it just makes it feel more like the old game.
What does bother me is how rough the port currently feels.
Very shortly after starting the game, you’re basically thrown a 16-page guide explaining a bunch of different systems, including things you won’t even need for quite a while. It feels like information that should have been introduced naturally while playing instead of being dumped on you all at once.
Some parts of the UI are also surprisingly unclear. The game tells you when you need to eat, but as far as I can tell there’s no clear way to see how hungry you actually are. Food has different hunger values, which makes that even stranger, because I have no idea whether I need an item that restores 10 hunger or 50.
Achievements also seem pretty buggy. I’ve already had achievements show their requirement as completed, for example 20/20, while still not allowing me to actually complete or claim them. The game also tells you that an Achievement Store has been unlocked, but either it doesn’t exist yet or it simply doesn’t open.
So even after only an hour, the game already feels noticeably buggy and not polished enough.
I’m still enjoying being able to play Zenonia again, though, and I do intend to keep going and probably try to finish it. Whether the nostalgia will be enough to carry it if these bugs keep getting in the way is something I’ll have to find out.
I also really hope this release does well enough for Zenonia 2 and 3 to eventually get the same treatment. I’d definitely like to see those return as well.\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t

This game shines in the good old 4 directions ARPG like the old school Mana series. It has a huge SNES feeling. There is a great insipration from Hack and slash games with loots, stats points to allocate, classes, skills to use. It's a fun little ARPG that can become really grindy if you want to reach max level. As a PoE and D2 player, that feeds my soul.
Even if the music is badly looped so you end up muting it for the whole playthrough or the story is really basic. This is a game you can sink 100 hours easilly without even noticing.

First, the storytelling (black screen with rolling text) is TOO FAST for me to read through. I actually want to read the story. And well, the early story overall advance too fast(?) for my 2 brain cells at least.
There is Good/Evil system in the game and apparently the first choice matters, a LOT. You'll need to do a lot to reverse the choice between Good/Evil after your initial pick.
Game feels clunky and missing some quality of life that's not all that important to me but definitely things i'd want. e.g. when in inventory, when my cursor's highlighting far left item, pressing left i'd imagine it'd make it highlight farright item. Buying multiple items can only be done in one increment (1 -> 2 -> 3), no +10 button (1 -> 11 -> 21).
Most important Quality of Life for me, the game's saves isn't Cloud Synced? Is it just me or? I opened steam on another device and my savefile wasn't there. I'm bummed.

Its just as fun and goofy as i remember playing it on my phone and its been the standard for mobile games for me. they might have been rough back in the day but they were fun and better than a lot of whats out today. The first 3 games of this series were fantastic but the series started dying when micro transactions were introduced in 4 on.

It is a port of an older mobile game and has accordingly its clunky parts. But the artstyle and the story impressed me so much back then that I still think about Zenonia from time to time especially when I need inspiration for my own art.
It plays like a mix of 2D-Zelda combat and typical old school RPGs. You have your main story quest and a bunch of sidequest where you have to collect this amount of items and kill that amount of monsters. You can choose from 3 different classes and progress through their distinct skill trees during each playthrough.
I do not appreciate though, that there is not much variety in gameplay and that the game is rather grindy.\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t

Zenonia 3 was my first JRPG game introduced by my brother-in-law and i fell in love ever since and played everything until S (Though granted I honestly loved 1 till 4 alot and replayed it alot back then, not much of a fan of S). Its nice to experience the story again, its been many years and I've forgotten most of the details in the story as well so it feels so fresh. I look forward to the others especially 3 being remade into a pc port. I do hope this is a sign that the Zenonia series is making a comeback.\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t

For anyone who never played the original Zenonia, though, be warned: the gameplay can be pretty difficult at times. It definitely feels like an older mobile RPG in that regard, so don’t expect everything to be a breeze.
There are also some issues with the dialogue and quests. Sometimes NPCs are referred to with the wrong gender, like a male NPC being called “she” or a female NPC being called “he.” I noticed this mostly in side quests, but it occasionally happens in the main story too. It only bothered me a little, but the translation/dialogue could definitely use some polishing. I’m not sure if it’s too late for these issues to be fixed, but I hope they’ll look into them and keep an eye out for similar issues in future games.
