\n\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\tFirst off, this game has fantastic visuals and the water physics/simulation side of being able to build and ride your own break is super cool. I'm also going to preface this with the caveat that I haven't played a surfing game since Kelly Slater Pro Surfer on PS2/Xbox.
As it is right now, it is 100% what the name says it is, a Surf Sandbox, where you can create, learn and play around at will with no goals. For me personally I'd love love to see the following added;
- Full controller support, I have an ROG Ally/Steam Deck, and it kills me that this game isn't really supporting a controller properly. You can use the joystick for input, but any slight angle deviation causes a duck dive or the character to stand on the board. It'd be great to be able to use the d-pad as well. Navigating the menus isn't great as well, I ended up just using touch screen control. This game seems perfect to play on flights etc but the control implementation means it doesn't feel as enjoyable to play.
- I'd like to have a "competition" mode, doesn't need to be multiplayer, but somewhere that I can use to get an objective score of "am I getting better at controlling the character?". For surfing adding a surf comp style mode where all of a sudden there is a cloudbreak style pavillion in the start area with 3 judges that score you at the end of the ride, or even just a floating score that counts/shows number of snaps, airs, time in barrel, floaters or general wave ride time would be something that I could use to judge my own progression in the game and would help bring me back for more.
- Honestly a bit of a dream this last one, but having major world breaks modelled and named would be super cool for me (the current ones may already be modelled on famous breaks but I'm not smart enough to work that out). Being able to go to Teahupoo, Bells, Pipeline etc and being able to see a representation of what it looks like under those breaks and how that changes the break, then being able to ride it would be quite honestly one of the coolest experiences.
Genuinely a cool game and as it looks like regular updates are happening I am genuinely looking forward to see what the future brings it. Keep up the dope work!\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t
