I'll start by saying I played the game for about 40 minutes and gave up after about 10 minutes with the fourth unlocked progression system; there were three more.
Short incremental games shine when they provide the players with at least a few playstyles, meaningful choices, and a motivation for mastery, so actually paying attention to details is rewarding. Zad Archery does none of these; there is a single playstyle, barely any meaningful choices, and very little room to master it.
By "barely," I mean next to nothing. The skill tree is incredibly scripted, and it offers very few choices at a time, leaving you with no meaningful choices to optimize your progression in the game. The best upgrade is blatant most of the time, making the skill tree boring.
One major UX problem is that you can't progress at a reasonable speed in this game without clicking rapidly with your mouse if you want to play actively. There should at least be a keybinding option for the main action, or a keyboard-based click (preferably the spacebar), because after about 20 minutes of playing, my hand started begging me to stop.
Another UX problem is that you can't switch between the menus with keyboard keys, so you need to navigate to the sidebar with your mouse every time to switch between multiple progression trees.

The game is super linear, there's not a lot of choices you can make, equipment enchantments can be ignored since getting a legendary piece is super easy. Upgrades are also linear, there's not much variety to them and you can't try to specialize in a small path of upgrades because they all do the same stuff.
If you want a short mindless game, then sure this is wonderful, but I've played many other incremental/idle style games for free that have much more depth and flavor to them.

You can die, but you auto revive and restart the level, when you die it picks up ALL loot that's on the field so you are constantly gaining exp and have infinite lives.

I genuinely don't understand some of the negative reviews I've seen. People play for an hour, realize the game isn't constantly throwing new content at them every 30 seconds, and then complain.
Guys... it's an IDLE GAME. 😂
And honestly, that's exactly why I'm enjoying it.
It's chill, low-demand, and surprisingly addictive. You can actively play and mess around with your upgrades, skills, crafting, mining, and progression, or you can just let the game do its thing while you're doing something else.
The progression feels really satisfying. You actually notice your upgrades. You unlock new skills, improve your abilities, watch your damage climb, and slowly build your character into something stronger. There's also more depth to the systems than I initially expected, especially once you start looking into the different skills and upgrades.
What I really appreciate is that the game doesn't constantly pressure you to be progressing every second. You can play actively when you feel like it, leave it running when you don't, and come back later to see what you've earned.
And honestly...
THE PRICE IS GREAT.
For what this game is trying to be, the pricing is completely reasonable. It's a simple, relaxing idle game that you can jump into whenever you want, without demanding your full attention.
If you're looking for a fast-paced RPG where you're constantly moving, fighting, and unlocking something every five minutes, this probably isn't the game for you.
But if you understand what an idle game is supposed to be and you're looking for something chill, satisfying, low-demand, and surprisingly fun to min-max, I'd definitely recommend giving ZAD Archery a chance.
Just play it for more than one hour before writing it off. 😂
