I really like how much freedom you have — you can explore, build your own base, craft gear and just do whatever you want. The building system is probably one of my favorite parts, especially when you start making bigger and more complicated bases. Playing with friends is a lot of fun too, although solo can be pretty enjoyable. The world is huge and there’s always something new to find or something that wants to kill you. Overall, a great survival game if you like exploration, building and a bit of chaos.\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t

Gave this game another launcher it did not need to force you onto their "funcom" platform and now with about 2 hours of research game boots into a infinite load black screen from their garbage launcher with zero mods, fresh install, integrity, every possible "fix" I can find etc. Moral of the story dont buy or support this steaming pile of ♥♥♥♥♥\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t

It has how ever always been super janky and clunky especially hit boxes and combat animations and I kind of wished Funcom would have fixed it up by now but it hasn't really changed much but at least it's still very much playable and fun! I would wait for a sale for this game cause $40 along with some DLC/Cosmetics is too much $ honestly but this game is great fun with friends and with a couple mods it's even better!\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t

\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\tI played Conan Exiles in 2018 and got back to the game when Enhanced released. In 2026, especially compared to Dune Awakening by the same studio, Conan Exiles is a complete package, and surprisingly offers some gameplay elements lacking from the Funcom's later game.
Despite being 8 years old, Conan Exiles offers solid survival experience, and with solo/co-op playmode it should attract players who shun PvP or just prefer to play alone on uncrwoded maps (luckily, Dune Awakening is about to recieve the same treatment in autumn 2026).
Having played Dune for some 200+ hours, I found Conan Exiles a better package. Unlike Dune, Conan is less restrictive in resource gathering. The cornerstone resource is mid-game steel, and late-game materials are required in much lower quantities, and mostly for armor and weapons, and not for buildings and crafting facilities (with some very rare negligible exceptions). On the game's second map, Isle of Siptah, all end-game resources are evenly spread, and require even less effort to get (at least in solo play where there are no griefers building on resource nodes). There are no specific red or green components that are exclusive to pvp zones or bandit camps like in Dune.
Another key favourable difference of Conan compared to Dune is variety. Instead of Atreides/Harkonnen tilesets (and a few other generic ones) Conan allows players to build castles and citadels inspired by various eras and cultures. From Greek/Roman temples, to medival European keeps, to Arabic palaces, to Oriental castles. Yes, each set comes as DLC, but given often sales, those can come as cheap as $3-4 each.
Yet another pleasant aspect of base building is the living settlement mechanics. Conan Exiles always had thrall mechanics that allowed the player to hunt for thralss in order to boost their production facilities and create a small garrison to protect the base. Now the thralls move around the base and use its various facilities - work at stations, drink at fountains, relax in tavern, sleep in beds or just loiter near some wooden box. This is a stark difference compared to lifeless bases in Dune Awakening that were only pratially helped if you played in a large guild.
Aside from resource gathering and building, Conan Exiles offers various dungeons for end game activity, and once again it is a way better experience than was offered in Dune. Dungeons have different architecture and styles, varied enemies and bossess, from giant insectoids to regular humans, to giants and beasts, both alive and undead, as well as have raid-lite puzzles. Unlike Dune's repetitive labs.
Overall, Conan Exiles is a pretty decent game for survival enthusiasts, especially if they are looking for experience in Sword&Sorcery environment. More shockingly is how a game from 2018 has more varied content than the more recent game by the same developer. Like between the PC and PS systems, I have over 2K hours playing this game. Like, I am a major fan of it. And now on the PC the Unreal Engine 5 upgrade, just turned this game inside out. Like WOW, this game is so good. I would give you a Pros/Cons list, but honestly, there would be two cons verses like hundreds of pros. First con is that some servers you got trolls.... big surprise. Second con is the occasional, and I mean minor moments in which your pets/thralls might glitch. Either they fall through your flooring, or forget to attack something clearly attacking you. But outside of that, yah, this game is a must for the tamer/ grinder/ builder/ pve/pvp/ oh look I want that, oh a boss, no problem kind of game. Many servers are modded, which expands the game further. Such as fantasy mods, in which you could play fairies, giants, cat or fish folks, vampires, werewolves, etc. There is so much to do in this game with Roleplay in both the pg setting and Rated R/X settings too. Note: most servers require discord joins to explain rules outside the official compacity.

\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\tI originally was going to say that it felt pretty simple, since the game starts with your character crucified and left to die like Arnold in Conan the Barbarian after he tries and fails to infiltrate the snake cult, only in this case you're accused of randomly generated crimes you may or may not have committed and the actual Conan the Barbarian happens to bump into you and decides to set you free so that you get a shot at surviving, before walking away to do awesome Conan things offscreen.
And that's it, the rest of the early game seems to be a mix of learning the different mechanics and barely managing to piece together that the bracelet you're wearing makes it impossible to cross a magic invisible wall that surrounds the Exiled Lands, so now you have to figure out how to take the damn thing off and go back to your life.
So there I was minding my own business and basically living in a 3D Hyborean-Age Stardew Valley, building a house, cooking, farming, crafting and hunting and thinking that I didn't know what I was supposed to do next except go off exploring in a random direction and see what happened except the only two times I dared to venture too far off in different directions I ended up barely managing to kill a giant spider and a giant scorpion, and thinking that the game was a bit boring and not that engaging, but then I noticed I had racked up about 10 hours of gameplay, which means the game is actually not boring and is in fact engaging.
So far I haven't even fought that many enemies, except for about half a dozen raiders (not together, in total), a pack of hyenas, some weird short monster dudes in the first oasis, and a bunch of giant spiders during my only expedition away from home base, so I don't really feel like I'm living Conan's life or anything like that, but it is a solid sandbox/survival game, especially now that the Enhanced edition has been released. There's also a ton of mods you can install to make your experience more interesting.
After 20+ hours I haven't progressed the story that much, but I have done a fair bit of exploring and I've fought some variety of monsters, including a few bosses, and I have admit that the game does nail the ambiance and tone fo the Conan stories, with all the Lovecraftian weirdness it should include. Not the best game of this sort, but it seems to have a very clear idea of what it is and commits to it.\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t

Lemme get some things out there up front. I HATE survival games and I HATE crafting games. But JEEZ this game has me HOOKED.
i'm still at Noob River and working everything out (including the amazing number of incredible mods) and I'm sold. 50 hours in and I've only touched the surface. Pure gaming gold. Anyone else thinking about stepping into this incredible universe of a game - check out Angaar's incredibly helpful youtube playlist for beginners (even if only for liquid gold of his dulcet (scottish?) tones haha.
