Alright, so I was intrigued by the idea of an incremental, automation game. And for the beginning portions, it seems to scratch that itch, but the vast amount of items and sources in this game make the math VERY VERY VERY dynamic. Eventually, this game requires more manual crafting than automated. And I think even the developer knows that. How do I know this? Because I just watched the "dev gameplay recorded stream" here on steam, and I did NOT see any automated crafting at the point where the dev is approaching the "computer" recipe. Instead, I observed a bunch of location hopping, manual crafting, and recipe checking. To me, that is now the fun part of automated crafting games. I want to sit back and watch my work come to fruition, but instead, this game seems to require more out of YOU the further you get into the tiers.
Additionally, there is a lot of AI generated content in this game. Personally, I don't mind that as long as the game is good... But something tells me the main skeleton of this game's code and balancing was aided by AI and not really refined. Example, my inventory numbers (incoming, outgoing, projected balance, etc.) kept changing to the degree I wasn't even sure which "deficit" was truly deficit or not. I would fix the "deficit" in wood production only to then see that I was making more than I needed, then changed it back and it was not longer deficit.
Maybe I'm just not smart enough to understand this game. But I know that I saw the DEV playing this game, and that was all manual crafting he was doing. So to me, the decision is simple. \n\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\tI have a real love/hate relationship with this game. It's a great idea wrapped in a hard to use UI filled with very strange and somewhat baffling design choices. I'm still playing basically forcing myself to get through to the end, but I would not recommend it, it just isn't fun as anything but a tedious clicker until you're nearly done with the game.
If it was in early access, maybe this would be a cautious recommend, but only after playing the demo thoroughly. But it's a full release game, so it's definitely thumbs down.
You build one of each building, and each building will have multiple processing lines available. For example, an oil refinery has processing petroleum into motor products, lubricant, or several other products, each as a separate line. Initially with colonists you can automate most or all of the lines in a building to run in parallel, up to where you run out of colonists. Even with the recent change to increase colonists, you run out very quickly. So maybe you can automate all the steps to get steel, but then you also need 50 other products to keep moving forward. So you're hand crafting those other 50. Why the artificial limitation?
Then you get halfway through the game and you get electricity and automation cores, which allow you to automate a building without colonists. So now all the problems are solved and you can have fun automating everything, right? NO. Now you can automate one production line in a building, making electric automation pretty much useless. (For example, you can automate drilling for crude oil OR processing that oil, but you can't automate both unless you switch back to using colonists, which you're long out of!) You also cannot mix labor automation and electric automation in a building - very strange and unrealistic. Another two tiers of research into the early end game finally opens it up so you can actually automate things from the looks of it, but I haven't gotten that far.
You can't scroll using the keyboard, and WASD doesn't work to move things around, you have to click and drag. There were places that didn't have scroll bars and required arduous scrolling with the mouse wheel. I reported this, and the developer gave me a work around and said it would be changed in the next version. The workaround was a right click, but the list you got from right clicking doesn't scale, so you can't read it. It also isn't persistent and often goes away before you can click on something on that list. There are also several other UI elements that don't follow the UI scaling setting, such as when it's time to build a building.
There's a production planner where you can click on a resource, product, or research and it will give you a step by step plan on how to get to the end point. You literally click on one card after another until you get what you were going for. The exact opposite of automation, everything's hand crafting and everything's laid out for you. For me it takes all the fun out of figuring out the production chain for myself, it feels almost like cheating.
Maybe one suggestion would be to add a sandbox game mode where colonists were unlimited. Or better yet would be a different path of progression for both colonists and electric automation. An alternative way to earn colonists in addition to research tiers for one. And an earlier research path for electric automation parallel processing.
Edit the next day: I don't think I'm going to be able to finish this game. Now I'm in this death spiral with electricity. I can't automate things without using electricity but I can't generate enough electricity given the power generators I have by middle end game (the only ones I don't have are Nuclear and two later ones). For example, if I want to automate wind turbines, it will cost me 920 electricity to generate 980 electricity!
This game needs a serious balancing pass and a re-think of some of it's systems. It's very frustrating because this could be such a fun game.\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t

You just waste a lot of time searching for needed recipe to tweak it a bit. With 30+ active recipes it becomes hell. You just cannot distinguish what is produced by a blocks at a glance. And it lags like AAA project built on Ureal Engine 5.
Another problem is finding out what resources gone deficit in automation panel. You have something like 100 resources produced and no sorting or filtering. Inventory tab is not a real helper here too.
No sorting or filtering of recipes and resources anywhere. No icons of produced items where they are most needed. Jumping block heights in automation. And so on. Game wants your eyes to feel pain and it accomplishes this evil deed.

For example, if you use tools to mine resources you need to use them efficiently, exploiting all available tool durability, otherwise they will lose more resources to make them than you get by using them to mine. But if you try to balance around their durability you may have to assign more workers which is a limited resource, especially on hard mode, and then you won't have enough to automate other things. At the same time usually you don't need infinite resources so just keeping a mining operation on while you no longer need ore is also a waste. There are many dependencies and loops in production chains so it may look overwhelming at start but it may be worth it if you enjoy tampering with numbers.

Then someone said try it and my is this the industry game I like in depth yes easy no, getting lost in this for a few hours at a time no problem. Can't wait for the ultra realistic side of the game. Ok has its flaw the learning curve can be really hard but it makes it worth it. \n\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\tGot to hand it to the dev. The immediate turnaround of a 1.1.1 update which addresses pretty much most of the mechanical issues in the game is great work.
The rebalancing feels spot on. There is far less need now to run around and switch lines on and off to keep within this constraint or that. You still have to do it now and then, but it's much, much less inconvenient than it was before, and now it feels like you are making significant production line changes rather than just doing busywork to scrape the next thing together.
The removal of tool durability quantization grants a huge amount of freedom in how you want to approach things; the obvious optimal route is far less important to take, it's OK to wander off a little and experiment.
The change to rest blocks is nice. But I do wonder why they couldn't just automatically adjust themselves. Managing that multiplier manually is not a particularly interesting task to demand of the player; really it just wastes a few seconds of time here and there when you forget to manually update it before adjusting the previous production block. So I'd automate that away.
I still think some of the upgrades feel underwhelming sometimes. For example, I unlocked automation cores, but I can't use them because every building is either producing multiple things and/or more than a single production block can manage. Until I unlock more upgrades, I can't actually use these. Unlocking that was a bit of an anti-climax.
The biggest remaining issue I think is that it's very hard to trace where items are coming from, or going to. I can see how many are being produced/consumed, but not by what. I'd love a second-level inventory screen which showed me this. It would save me a lot of time.
There are a few other UI annoyances. I feel bad complaining, I've never written a "good" UI in my entire career. But there are a few rough edges to this one. I guess the UI will improve over time, but in large part this is down to poor use of real estate - important buttons that you click a lot are quite small, and the less important buttons are big. Manual crafting is (hopefully) a small part of the game yet gets a large amount of real estate. That sort of thing.
I don't mind the use of AI in creating this game, as long as it is declared on the store page. I feel this is worth the money, and I've had fun so far (about half-way through the tech tree at this point).

This game seemed like a no-brainer for me. How could I not like this?
Bad balancing is the main thing.
Your ability to automate is artificially constrained at every turn. I might be dumb and missing something, or the game wants you to do a lot of hand-crafting - which would be fine in any other setting (e.g. factorio) than a menu-driven UI where it is just boring. I'm not going to do it. Automation or bust for me.
There are many annoying design choices - like quantizing the durability of tools, meaning you are throwing resources down the drain if not utilizing them at full-throughput - which, as per above, is not possible given the constraints imposed. It also means that technology steps (e.g. going from wood to stone tools) are aften actually bad (you end up throwing the majority of the newfound durability away because you don't have the colonists to exploit it). This might all make sense in a game which is trying to be somewhat realistic and science-y, but feels crap in this sort of game. I want to unlock a great new tech and upgrade my base, not do the numbers and realise it won't work and I have to wait.
I suspect lots of players will get to stone tools and end up in a death spiral as they try to upgrade their lines, and eventually realise they're throwing most of those stone tool resources down the drain. The game tries to tell you this in a couple of places, but the place where it's really important - the automation design screen - does not. Many of your players are going to die here.
When you get to iron production... I must be missing something. The numbers just don't work for me. I've run them in a calculator, they don't add up. I don't think this game works. I might be being an idiot, but if so, the game is not helping me spot that in any way.
So the production ratios are off. And technological unlocks don't feel like they bring real, significant benefits - which is a bit of a killer in this type of game. Stone tools are less than 2x as effective as wooden tools, yet cost much more then 2x to produce. I don't get the maths.
I'm sure the maths probably works. But it's not explained to me in a way I can understand and make use of. The "Guide" does not help in this area - I've read it all.
The UI feels OK to begin with, but quickly gets on your nerves. I can tell it was vibe coded; for example, you can drag the cells around on the research screen (a bit of an obvious testing oversight there, too). There's plenty of obviously AI-generated text in the Guide too. I don't think the use of AI for coding or text was declared on the store page. (Use for graphics and audio was, at the time I purchased.)
Finally, get rid of the inactivity popup. Your game actively encourages AFK-ing to stockpile, so the warning is just plain irritating.
