I will switch this review later if the devs put some elbow grease into making things better.
Bugs:
- Animation for both players not showing properly
- Non-Host cannot pick up stories, which prevents them from unlocking boons
- Skills cast by non-host do not register for damage / effect very often.
- Players can get stuck in execute animation after the enemy is dead if the other player killed it while you were executing. (no controls work until another enemy bump you)
- Players can get stuck in monsters/environment, pretty much killing their camera (for big demons)
Annoyance:
- Many enemies will strike with barely any ramp up of their attack.
- Enemies striking constantly behind their backs as their swing begins from there, giving you 0 time to block. (big 2 hand sword guys, giant demon, blade demon).
- Enemies perfect tracking, Instant 180 mid-swing.
- If disconnected, cannot mid-game rejoin.
- Lack of different move sets for the different weapons
- While sets have bonuses (slash, blunt) most weapon share the same stats, so specialization serve no purpose.
- It would be more interesting to build a nice armor set inside the mission, than rely on RNG.
Abilities:
- Abilities feel useless, had 5 stacks of burn on an enemy, barely noticed their hp moving. Rage dissapear too quickly to do anything good, damage barely register.
- Mark + Ice Overload is currently the only good skill.
- All flame abilities are terrible exept the 4 magic missile from 2 handed weapon.
- All flame stacks dissapear at the same time instead of each having its individual duration.
- Having a max of 5 flame stack is terrible.
- Rage effect is barely felt and it tough to maintain even with full set, duration is way too low.
- Bleed limited to 1 stack is terrible.

This game has an identity crisis it wants to be a roguelike but its design seems much better for something resembling the structure of Remnant 1 and 2. The elements feel so un cohesive that I believe they would be better ripping out the roguelike elements.
The game revolves around picking up gear constantly, even after you have collected all of the gear in game. You can never unlock legendary gear only pick it up or buy it for the run your currently on. You can collect everything and get it to epic/purple but your chances of picking up the same gear or better gear with the perks you want on it are slim.
The gear you collect comes back to you as common, and stripped of most perks. This makes a large amount of the gear Flavorless and pushes you into using the few pieces of gear that have meaningful synergies you can use. So you are forced to pick up new gear during the run to supplement your current build however as its RNG you may never find anything that suites what your going for.
The variety of weapons are shameful, you basically have the option between a polearm and a sword and board. They all functionally act the same.
Combat doesn't feel responsive at all, it makes it feel like the game is robbing you over forcing you to play with skill. Great combat makes you feel like you messed up and it caused your failure.
I think if they stripped out the Rougelike part and made gear more meaningful around the board, A way to get to legendary gear besides random drops, and rework the combat to feel like your more in control.

Very disappointed in the forced data sharing. Even worse was then this was brought up, they just said its within the rules of the EU or whatever. That may be so, its in the rules. Doesn't mean you have to follow those rules. Almost no games do this practice anymore. Why you need to farm our data for improvements to your game is crazy. It uses up our memory and storage to store all this. We should be paid since we are helping the game be developed. People act like this isn't a big deal when it is a massive deal. Every browser and every app is using your data and not to improve anything. Its to sell you things that you are interested in, but don't particularly need. They are controlling what you see and what you buy. Your opinions and thoughts are force fed to you.\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t

\n\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\tSo f****** frustrated with this game because it is actually really cool, interesting, and fun when it is working. Unfortunately 90% time it doesnt work. Not gonna go into much detail on all the issues, my main frustration is with the camera. To put it lightly, this camera is absolutely abysmal and genuinely unplayable especially in tighter areas. The camera regularly clips into walls and freaks out even after the new hotfix. It is also stuck at an uncomfortably low angle which means I cant see past my own character half the time.
All of this is made worse by the fact that the lock-on is a NECESITTY. You cant aim your attacks properly without it. Once you start attacking, looking around does nothing and the rest of your combo will continue to attack in a straight line. Literally just copy the souls camera.

But some of the hate is way over the top for what the game actually is. Its a $20 AA game from a relatively small core team, not a $70 AAA release with hundreds of full time devs behind it. For the price, the combat, art style, animations, armor/weapons, music, and overall presentation are honestly really solid.
People keep comparing it to games with way bigger budgets and way more development time, then acting like its bad because it doesnt have the same amount of content. Thats not really a fair comparison.
I enjoy the game, but im not saying its complete or perfect. It needs more content, more enemy variety, better progression, and obviously the technical stuff fixed. But the actual foundation is good, and thats the harder part to get right.

For the price, the combat, art style, animations, armor/weapons, music, and overall presentation are honestly really solid.
People keep comparing it to games with way bigger budgets and way more development time, then acting like its bad because it doesnt have the same amount of content. Thats not really a fair comparison.
I enjoy the game, but im not saying its complete or perfect. It needs more content, more enemy variety, better progression, and obviously the technical stuff fixed. But the actual foundation is good, and thats the harder part to get right.

It's not healthy to keep doing that, as it creates expectations that as a smaller studio you just aren't going to meet. Lack of so many QOL things at launch like FOV, mouse sensitivity settings and the continuing issues with the camera really aren't terrible if you temper expectations. This is a fun game, and I do recommend it if you have any kind of interest in Darksiders, Souls likes and roguelikes. But despite the developers claiming the contrary, this is very much an early access title in it's current shape. It's not refined enough for me to consider it complete, especially when only this week are we seeing an update to resolve camera issues. Enemies lock on and off movement isn't fluid in combat at all parrying is very hard to time because of these issues. Game story is very generic the loot doesn't have any real impact get better stuff and just put it on. The only thing i really like is the angelic form and the potential for the story. The angelic form isn't strong enough and the amount of times you do get it. Boss encounter are decent at least. Ill hop back in eventually when these issues get resolved. The key binds are only a pain in the ass if you're using a keyboard, which is nerdy for a game like this anyway. 20 dollars is a real value for a game like this, assuming you actually have friends to play with. Difficulty feels much easier the more you expand your build and upgrade equipment, as you should. I would recommend to add a way to manage equipment mid run, especially after you bring something back from a run. I see how it can simplify a run as it is if you end up storing something that needs upgraded, but that's exactly what I'm going to do after I fail a run anyway, so why delay the inevitable? Anyway, if you like Souls like games, good co-op that doesn't require you to use a summoning item to play with them every time they die, and want to spend 20 dollars for it, do it.
