Fundamentally, this game is not a city or base builder. It is purely an incremental game, due to complete lack of layout choices or ability to decide where and how many constructions to place. There is the theme of building a city from the ground up, but it is fully automated.
In terms of incremental gameplay, I like the idea of managing multiple resources in parallel. However I ran into major friction because I couldn't see or mange anything from a single interface. In order to move workers, you have to manually drag around the map until you find the building to deallocate from, and then go to the building you want to allocate to.
Additionally... the research and building upgrade UI is TERRIBLE.
For buildings, there is no way to see the effects that an already constructed building level currently has, and no way to see what research they will unlock from the building menu. It will literally say "unlocks <building name> research." And there is no central place to see all of the possible build options and costs. The closest thing this game has to that is the ability to pin a single building cost to the upper right corner.
For research, the "research book" is limited to viewing only six upgrades at once, then you need to flip a page to see the others. There are some buildings with upwards of 3 or 4 pages of upgrades... but the effect of future upgrades are not visible until they have been unlocked by a building upgrade.
These in combination create a situation where there is no way to tell if a given building upgrade is actually useful for future research without first spending the resources to upgrade said building. This leads to a lot of wasted resource spending.
Overall, this game is fine as a thing to run in the background (would be better if it didn't use so much memory), but the UI is cumbersome and counterintuitive to the type of incremental gameplay contained within.
If you are ok with a more-or-less linear incremental game with a medieval town theme, and ok with not optimizing workers, then I think Hearth and Hamlet makes sense. But if you want to make real, interactive management decisions, this is not something I would recommend.

It's not really a city builder at all, it's an idle game, and one with an extremely linear, boring game play loop. It doesn't increment while closed, it doesn't make a particularly good screen saver if you leave it open while you work, and I found the music to be grating. I don't think it's particularly OFFENSIVE and if you're fine with just "another mid idle game" to occasionally babysit then it's another one of those. I think $5 is a steep price tag for what it is, $8 is borderline criminal.\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t

I know that's the case with most incremental games but god does this feel boring af. I don't see any option to restart a run with additional buffs too.
Feels like the excitement of unlocking stuff just dies out when you get to the point where things require like 10K++ resources because your clicking adds around 10 resource per tick and it feels excruciatingly slow.
Edit: Finished the game on Steady (Normal) difficulty. Nothing actually changed. It is boring through and through. The hours played are deceptive because they are afk minutes, not actual play time.

This is not a city builder, you do not get to choose where to put things. But the animations are adorable, how the city changes over time is very cool to see, and I for one liked to just play zoomed all the way in to see the little details.
I finished one easy playthrough in 8 hours, and then the highest difficulty in another 12 hours. Its not hard to get all the achievements, just a bit time consuming if you dont plan for it before you start.
For the sale price I paid, this was worth the money. I hope one day more content gets added! I would love to see additional settlements, or maybe playing the other kingdoms to get them up and going. Good job on this!\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t
