For me, it's this game. I dont have much to say, other than that it is incredibely well polished and optimized. The gameplay loop feels really rewarding and there are thousands of ways to build and scale your factory, it deserves its nickname Cracktorio for a reason.
People with autistic tendencies or germans be advised, this game will suck up time like an industrial vacuum does dirt.
if you liked the demo and the base game, i also highly recommend the Space Age DLC, which practically quadruples the average playtime per session and opens the floodgates for incredible factory optimzation. There are also plenty of easily accessible mods for more content.

This Game is borderline perfect. I will say this bluntly, it is a grind and it is definitely NOT for everyone. But Holy sheet if you like building, crafting, planning out designs, and watching creations grow into massive masterpieces, then this is the game for you. The only limit I've found to this game is your hardware. This game allows you to plan how you want, do what you want, and make things as small or as grand as you like with basically unlimited freedom. The world is infinitely and randomly generated across 5 planets all with vastly different crafting methods and difficulties that come with each differing environment. It's the greatest sandbox experience I've ever played with jus the right amount of diversity and challenge in it's puzzle and mechanics. There is no other game I've found that will reward your intellect and forward thinking more than Factorio, and along with the Space Age expansion, this game is a complete and utter masterpiece of an experience that will grant you literally 100's if not 1,000 hours if you really get into it like many have and myself included.

You can run this game on a potato, and it runs perfectly. The size is roughly 5GB. Every single building, every machine, every sprite looks extremely detailed and neat. The game is extremely moddable. There's options for world generation, so you can fine-tune your experience exactly how you want it. The music fits perfectly, especially for Space Age, which also roughly triples the amount of content Factorio has to offer. God help us all.
There's a reason people call it Cracktorio. Your intention will be to play for maybe an hour or two, only to realize you've spent the last 10 hours coming up with new layouts, optimizing your output ratios, analyzing your logistics, defending against the wildlife, optimizing your output ratios again, setting up a train network, creating yet another new layout that uses the previous layout as a mere input, realizing you're running out of resources so you're now looking for more. It's now been 12 hours.
Factorio has had you within it's grasp that entire time, refusing to let you go. You can only leave when your body can't take any more, or when Factorio decides you deserve a break. Factorio is an endless loop that feeds back into itself, like a conveyor belt that never ends. Even after you've beaten the game, the factory yearns for more, siren-calling you back to the cycle of ever increasing expansion once again. You are becoming one with the machine. The factory is becoming, and you are. You are becoming together. Putrid black smoke rises from every kind of uncountable machine constructed from the flesh of the earth, it's blood, the very essence that gives life, now gives life to your factory, transformed. Mechanical whirrs in every direction, the crackling and sizzling of electricity, an inferno of sounds and objects and movements and object and sounds. You see nothing but input and output. You see nothing but production.

Even if you play without enemies (which is how I play) just simply to play around with builds and try to figure out ways to do things. Don't use blueprints from builders until you have gotten to your first rocket launch when you play normal or space-age though. Highly recommend trying to do it yourself first.
Then you can play with blueprints from those with 6k+ hours in the game that have optimized builds. Don't rush the game, enjoy it. It's great for just passively playing around.\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t

\n\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\ti LOVE this game. i've never had so much fun while making my own designs for builds and it's so rewarding when you look back at where you started because you can really see your progress. i first was introduced to Factorio from my brother. we used to and still will occasionally play this game since he moved for work and i haven't seen him in a while. playing this game (even alone) makes me feel like he's still here with me in spirit when i miss him. i cannot recommend this game more for anyone playing with friends or family.\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t
