Got it installed and went through the tutorial, and the game seems incredibly fun, but there is one issue for me personally that is sadly a deal breaker. I have a bit of nerve damage in both hands, and it makes using a controller non-viable and certain key combinations difficult for me to use reliably. In just about every other game I play, if there's a key or keys that I need to rebind for easier use, it's never been an issue. This game however has absolutely no options to change any key binds what-so-ever.
I know a game like this is better suited for controller use, but I was honestly a bit shocked to find that the controls were unchangeable. A game launching in 2026 with a AAA price tag having absolutely no ability to change control schemes is baffling to me. I really hope that in updates to come, they add control key remapping, and if they do, I'll most certainly be back. But until that happens if at all, I've issued a refund. Price of gas is way too high to be spending 60 bucks on a game that may or may not add that feature in the future.\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t

No where near the quality of the Podracer game which is crazy. We came this far with gaming and can't even beat an N64 game in quality. Everything is the standard star wars pick a card to get buffs while an n64 game let you choose parts to replace and you could see those parts. Tracks were longer, speeds were higher, intensitiy and difficulty were WAY higher. Over shadowed by a 90s game rough.\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t

But in the perspective of someone thats minutes from heading to work and wanting to hop into a quick race to feel it out I'm sorely disappointed. There's a campaign with cutscenes, a scenario mode, and time trials. Pod Racing is locked to online play only from what I could see. There is NO singleplayer mode where you can simply pick a track and vehicle and just race. HOW DO YOU NOT INCLUDE A SIMPLE SINGLE RACE FEATURE?? I hope this is updated later, game looks cool but I cant recommend this right now. Definitely had a chance to feature a character roster that included movie characters for fun and have them racing in different vehicles.\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t

Right out of the box, no performance issues, everything runs smooth, no bugs. Their respawns need work, it's pretty badly designed to get taken down, and respawn right in front of a wall that you cannot avoid and immediately wreck again but hopefully that can be adjusted. The racing feels fun, I'm not fussed about the walk around hub stuff. Fluff that took away from more resources going into more tracks and vehicles imo but whatever. I can live with it.

Pod Racing was the biggest draw for me, and you're locked into a couple of pre-set arcade races you can't alter? Who's bright idea was that? All you need to do is let me make my own free play tournament, let me pick what tracks I want, or let us randomize the tracks for a tournament and/or single races and let us pick our vehicle/character. Go and look at EA WRC quick play options, and put it in this game. In a few clicks, spawn a random tournament, pick your vehicle and go. Once you add that, I'll change the review.\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t

Will most likely refund i want to like it but the catch up (rubber-banding) mechanic will ruin the hopes of a fair race.
The game is not a racing game it’s a Slay the spire with “racing mechanics” if you can call it that. It’s a glorified Deck Builder.
Only two pros for me and they don’t outweigh the cons game looks and feels good. But past that Rubber-banding Bots ruin the experience, the end-game “Gear-check” is cheeks, no remapping.
Not worth $60 I could justify $30-40 but not the asking price.

Only two pros for me and they don’t outweigh the cons game looks and feels good. But past that Rubber-banding Bots ruin the experience, the end-game “Gear-check” is cheeks, no remapping.
Not worth $60 I could justify $30-40 but not the asking price.

Reviews for this game are completely inflated. There are quite a few issues I have with this game from the jump. There’s no local couch co-op, no custom multiplayer matches, but the biggest offense for me, as a huge fan of the original 1999 racer, and racers revenge, is that podracing itself takes a huge backseat in the campaign, to the point where there is no podracer customization at all.
And that’s just the tip of the iceberg, 6 of the original 18 or so original podracers are in the game, which to me is…asinine, there should at the very least be 12. Couldn’t even get into the double digits. You’re telling me there’s 12 racers in a regular match of the other vehicle classes, but podracing is reduced to only 6 racers in a single race?
If you wanna jump into podracing right away, there is the arcade mode. But if you wanna play as Gasgano in the Boonta Eve, you can’t do that, there’s no character selection like the OG titles. It’s basically scenario based. And podracing is the reason most people likely want to play this game, and for it to be freely played in arcade mode in a handful of matches, requires an online connection for multiplayer, and is only in the third act of the campaign… You can definitely tell that it’s sidelined. And that’s such a disappointment.
After approximately 90 minutes of playing the campaign, and trying out the arcade mode, it’s not enough for me to really justify the price. So I am going to request a refund. I will consider re-purchasing the game if there is a podracer only DLC in the future that adds the very basic pleasure of building / customizing your own podracer (a fundamental bare minimum for any Star Wars fan to enjoy), adds significantly more original podracers (wan sandage, Aldar beedo, clegg holfast, Neva Kee, just to name a few) And at least three more planets (ord ibanna is an idea, or something akin to it like Bespin). Because you’re basically cycling through the same 5 or 6 planets throughout the entire game. And it is way too repetitive for my liking. Overall, I’ve seen enough, I wish there were more. 4/10, for now. 😬\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t

The speeders feel incredible, they've absolutely nailed down the smoothness of the controls, the amount of control you actually get in this game almost reminds me of how sharp WipEout HD's ships are. The greatest thing carrying this game for me is the speed, real breakneck speed, that's all I wanted for the longest time, and these devs finally "get it" at long last. Unlike the last one off Star Wars game blunder that was Squadrons, this game actually keeps the "cinematic" speeds you see in the trailers. It's genuinely terrifying going 900+ km/h as you're in a pod racer that barely fits into the crevice you're flying through, and it's already led to countless movie moments for me. The roguelite system in the campaign is probably the best system they could've done for a game like this, they've already cemented the replayability for this game near perfectly, though the only system missing as of writing is just an offline quick race you can pop into from the main menu which this game would immensely benefit from.

Yes it has a hand full of pods, but they were an after thought, they are fast and the scenery is decent but that's where it ends. I tried to give it a fair shake and went through the entire first season. Honestly it feels like a shell of a game, your not walking the part yard picking out components your getting a short list of upgrades on tiles like a mobile game. The racing has abilities that ruin the feel of the race. Getting rammed and pushing off each other is fun close racing getting zapped and loosing control of your craft is not pod racing its Mario Kart as someone else stated.

The best two ways I can describe this game are:
Getting a cheat sheet for your homework, and still only getting a C+.
(EP1 Racer will ALWAYS be compared to this game, no matter how different they try to make it. It's regarded as one of the best racing games of all time, and it essentially laid out a framework for how they could do something similar.)
Showing up to an F1 race, but everyone is driving a toyota camry.
(The game HAS podracers, and they look beautiful, and they're blisteringly fast, but the majority of the content takes place in speeders that go maybe 2/3rds as fast once upgraded.)
The fact of the matter is the game definitely would have been review bombed if they didn't include podracers, so they did, just to the bare minimum. The issue is they're a carrot on a stick. There's a handful of podracing "missions" in the arcade section of the game. There is no campaign or customization for podracing. They are used as a plot point in the campaign, but not to any meaningful degree.
You have to progress through the main campaign to unlock all of the podracing levels, and this is clearly strategic, as you could absolutely finish all of the podracing content in this game within 2 hours. Conveniently within the return window time frame.
If the campaign could progress from the speeders, and eventually reach podracing, my review would be totally different.
If the last couple weeks have been any indication, you have to give players what they want these days, or they'll simply take your product into their own hands (and the hands of an AI), and make it themselves. The podracing assets are beautiful, the maps are beautiful, and the new characters are great, they're just in the wrong ships.

Let me get this out of the way first because it's what everyone is wondering.
PODRACING IS A SIDE QUEST. It is not at all the focus of the game and the pod racing customization is vastly limited compared to the other vehicle types.
It is an incredibly barebones racer - only 3 vehicle types, so you'd expect to have some decent customization options for them. However, customization boils down to rogue-lite upgrade parts and changing the livery/model of your ship. All stats come from selecting your rogue lite upgrades and a racer style.
Very limited range of planets (6 total), each planet seems to have small/medium/large format tracks but to be honest even the "long" tracks fly by. The Boonta Eve map was the biggest let down by far, as it doesn't even attempt to capture the best part of the track shown in EP 1.
Mechanics wise, there's not much going on here. The 3 vehicle types have their own drift style, and you have a perfect start mechanic at the beginning of races. Outside of that, it boils down to holding the boost button, and occasionally activating the ramjet whenever you can. The crashing does feel quite nice, which is about the only praise I can give to the racing feel. I've seen a lot of reviews talk about the "sense of speed", and while there are fast moments I can't shake the feeling that the N64 game looks faster to this day... The maps are larger in scale, and the speed wasn't upped very much.
There's not much going on in the story - it's racing fiction that has been told a billion times before that just so happens to take place in the Star Wars universe.
I'm let down, and I can't shake the feeling that this was initially going to be F2P. It is similar in depth to the Disney Kart Racer...\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t

And it could easily be higher since half the time the multiplayer lobbies have bots in them. Also there are 3 single player modes (Campaign, Scenarios, Arcade) but there are no co-op options for any of them. Scenario's are the #1 way to get the cosmetic currency which are the only permanent progression game-wide but you have to farm it by yourself where it could easily be done with friends. Increase the party cap and let scenario's be co-op.\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t
