This game was very well made. For that same reason it isn't nitpicky at all. It's intuitive to find the best spot for a building and, most importantly, you build out your little island **organically**. Every addition feel good to add on. Even when you didn't get exactly what you wanted, you usually get something pretty good... or even get something that expand your idea of where you want your town to go.
The effort in developing out the feel and pace of the game was well worth every ounce of time spent. It's relaxing, yet juicy. You can get a naturally forming forest around your hunters guilds or build out an intricate farming network with aqueducts. That's another thing, the heirlooms (artifacts) are great to allow you to adapt or double down on a combo you want to pull off. The factions are also distinct and feel different; you can combine two, so I feel that there is a lot of replay-ability.

Even the highest difficulty provides almost no challenge if you have even the barest understanding of how to 'break' the buildings (*cough* ghost/wild paints *cough*). Most of the content comes from the sheer amount of combinations of guilds requiring needing to do a ton of runs just to complete them all, but most of the end gameplay does kinda get samey.
Despite this, the rest of the game is very cleverly thought out and well designed. While some guilds are better or worse than others, most of them typically require the help of the other guilds to complement their synergy pieces and most combinations end up creating unique and interesting mixtures of buildings. The guilds blending so well together really drives a lot of the replayability and keeps you wondering if two 'seemingly incredibly discordant' factions actually have some sort of insane secret combo you hadn't thought of.

Despite the playable tag, the game runs amazing on the deck, and could only use some QOL updates, that honestly, I hadn't even checked to see if they were there (scalable text, controller configuration, etc.). The gameplay loop is great, building your combos is satisfying, and I look forward to seeing how the developers support this game. But in this case it's more just combinations. I still find it interesting and fun but it does show how combo is used maybe a bit too much in way to many games.
