Crashes and lag spikes happened very often on just a 1.5h gameplay which makes this game really not worth it's price, 15e (instead of 29e) is probably a price i would pay for it. There is also clearly a lot of elements made with AI and the tutorial is quite bad. I would probably buy the game again if the issues were fixed or if the price were to be lowered, until then I can't recommend it.\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t

The game has improved over time and I expect it to continue to evolve. For me, Subway Builder is a near perfect balance of complexity vs. simplicity. About halfway between NIMBY Rails and (the trains parts of) Cities Skylines.
There is somewhat, a lack of true "objective" and I could see this bothering some players. You're basically just building a train network for the sake of doing so. If you have a profitable system, you can just leave the game running and nothing will occur that requires your attention. I like this because I can casually have the game open and do other things without devoting my full/continuous attention to the game.
Technical: I play on Macbook Pro w/M5 Max, so about as good as it gets on MacOS. Performance is....ok. Nothing feels as smooth as it should given the hardware its running on. That said, it is better than most Mac ports (e.g. Skylines1) and the performance hiccups don't hinder gameplay in any significant way.\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t

It should not perform as bad as it does, and there are numerous bugs with the gameplay. It really does feel as if the game was vibe coded heavily. I wish this city builder would include an aerial satellite imagery overlay, so it can be easier to place the rail lines and stations in the right way possible. To build tracks, you must carefully select were you want to put them and avoid going through buildings unless you are digging lower than 10m. Demand stats are well shown and it is easy to plan out a path. Although it is cheaper to lay tracks close to the surface, I soon found out that doing so creates opportunities for eminent domain that increases costs. On the other hand, digging deep tunnels through bedrock doesn't disrupt the surface, but it increases both the construction costs exponentially.
In addition to simple excavation, the track-laying engine provides a high degree of precision when it comes to the layout of the infrastructure and the tracks. I experienced great satisfaction in building quad-tracked main lines, since this enabled my express trains to skip the local outer stations and take the large number of passengers directly into the dense districts.
