Now, after about an hour of playtime, I can comfortably say that they’ve done a great job. I really liked the game's atmosphere. Combining retro graphics with modern gameplay mechanics was handled brilliantly. The game plays smoothly without feeling clunky—a critical point, as it solves the lack of fluidity that I consider one of the biggest flaws in modern indie horror.
You can find inventory expansion items throughout the game, and locating them is crucial—make sure you don't miss them!
The concept of connecting the map through unlockable shortcuts, commonly seen in similar titles, is present here as well, and the level connectivity is executed well.
The weapon jamming mechanic seemed a bit risky at first, but I realized it fits the survival aspect perfectly. Having zombies rush at you forces quick thinking without making things feel impossible. On the contrary, it acts as an element that keeps you on your toes and adds positively to the experience.
For certain weapons, you need to manually rack a new round into the chamber after firing. It's a great design choice that really heightens the realism. The zombie variety in the opening chapter felt sufficient, and I expect it to expand further as the game progresses.
Weapon variety is quite satisfying. Kicking and melee attacks are useful for conserving ammo. Melee weapons have durability and can break over time. When you damage enemies, you can actually feel the impact—there's no sensation of shooting into thin air.
That covers my thoughts on the first part of the game. I will update this as I play more.
Update: The semi-open world in the second part felt almost like an immersive sim, which I mean as a major positive. I loved how effectively they integrated shortcuts into the open environment. They took what worked in the enclosed spaces of the first part and made it even more enjoyable here. As expected, enemy variety increased, with more Left 4 Dead-style zombies starting to appear.
The game features a bicycle-riding mechanic that speeds up travel through the city significantly—a fantastic addition.
You start with an inventory size of 8, which expands as you find backpacks. Inventory management plays a key role, requiring you to carefully balance weapons, ammo, and healing items.
Out in the open, the sound of screams echoing through the city greatly enhances the atmosphere. It gives you the distinct feeling that other people are still alive and in danger, even if you don't see them directly.
Upgrading weapons yields noticeable gameplay improvements. Attachments like suppressors are exceptionally useful, making it essential to equip parts as you discover them.
There are also a few puzzles, which strike a good balance in difficulty—neither frustratingly hard nor overly simple.
From a narrative standpoint, it delivers solid quality for an indie title. Without spoiling anything, they opted for a straightforward, plain story, so it's best not to expect deep narrative twists.

\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\tThis game is genuinely amazing, and I haven't even finished it yet. I believe I have a bit of a ways yet which is awesome. The art style is that retro kind that everybody loves and the music, though subtle, is beautiful. The levels are extremely well thought out and are full of loot and secrets to find. The whole game feels inspired by Resident Evil and similar survival horror titles while still making its own identity. The guns feel great to use and the mutants are genuinely disturbing. I haven't seen them all yet but there are different kinds of mutants and I've loved them all so far, some are seriously intimidating though I won't spoil any. The looting is a really addicting loop and actually does make you decide what you should and shouldn't take with the storage that's given to you, which you can upgrade by finding larger backpacks as you journey. One of my favorite things about Iron Blight is the simplicity of your goal: survive and get back to your beloved wife. Its the kind of single-focus you would really have in a situation like this and I appreciate that simplicity in a genre that's usually throwing all kinds of plots and great evils to be vanquished at you. In Iron Blight, you just want to keep breathing and find your love safe and sound. Something else I noticed is the ambient screams and gunshots going on around you in the town. The work done on these are some of the most genuine and creepy audio bits of its kind that I've heard in a game. Those people are out there around you and fighting just like you and they're dying horribly. There is actual fear and pain in the way they sound. The creepiest part isn't how real and off-putting they sound, its the fact that none of those people sound like they're winning. Eventually, as far as I can tell, the sounds stop. Where I'm at currently in the game I'm not really hearing gunshots and screams anymore. These background sounds do wonders in keeping you on edge and creating a sensation of hopelessness. A final detail I'd like to highlight, when something terrifying happens your character's hands will begin to shake and his breathing gets heavy. His first mutant kill or facing the horrors within Apartment B (have fun in there lol) all cause this effect and its extremely immersive. Shells and discarded bullets actually fall to the ground, everything physical has a 3D model that takes up space in the world and is never relegated to a flat image in a menu. Iron Blight is very accessible as well, giving you a variety of difficulties and customizable settings to choose from to make your playthrough as difficult or easy as you would like, even including an Ironman mode to play with. For my first time I've chosen to do Normal difficult, pick whichever you'd like, but I HIGHLY recommend turning Iron sight aiming and ammo loss on. By default your character just zooms with crosshairs when aiming, whereas iron sight aiming makes you actually use the weapon's sights. The default reload just puts more ammo into your gun and that's it but ammo loss makes it so reloading a magazine will lose whatever ammo was still inside. These settings make the game more difficult in a genuinely enjoyable way while also boosting the immersion and strategy massively. A quick tip with the ammo loss setting, if you unload any ammo that was still good you can pick it up off the ground to put back in your backpack! I want to preface this with making sure everyone reading this review knows that i played on the hardest difficulty for my first playthrough so some of the issues i mention might or might not be because of my choosen difficulty.
I played this game under the illusion that it is a survival horror game and the first chapter does offer such an experience to a degree but the second chapter which is a lot bigger than the first chapter turned out to be more of a horde shooter at times combined with puzzles at the worst of times.
The game is also quite bugged, be it your weapons becoming invisble or straight up being unable to do anything anymore because my weapon said so.
Doors where removed locks respawn and become impossible to open.
Ending the game also doesn´t reward you with the proper achievments.
Its sad because the idea of the game and the bones it provides are incredible good but its currently so unpolished so i would wait for a few updates and then think about getting it.\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t

There are some bugs here and there, and i can corroborate with what some of the reviews say, especially about the map bugging out from time to time. But despite all that, this game is very charming, and definitely worth the price of admission. The fact that it was only done with 2 developers is quite impressive! The guns are nice and weighty; you have to manually reload certain weapons such as bolt-action rifles and single-action revolvers. You have to clear gun jams in the heat of the moment; your resources are finite, and sometimes you need to sneak around tactically and bash heads in with a pipe. The story is also straightforward, but a strong premise: get back to your wife or die trying. The environments are superb; the sound design is amazing. It's truly an immersive game that at times makes my hands sweat with nerves would recommend playing on hard; 100% worth the asking price.\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t

I kept giving it a chance though for a bit longer, after a horde swarmed me after getting the bolt cutters I killed a few then hid in a shed, the mutants I think just killed me through the walls though. Then I just gave up.
I'll still recommend as the game has good atmosphere and gunplay, I like the inventory system too.
I personally just don't have a lot patience for working around a games bugs anymore. Also those things are fixable so I may re-purchase this at a later date, as I did get a refund.\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t

little did i know i happened to pick absolute peak in survival horror form. this game is robbing itself for the price it offers. from the excellent atmosphere and level design to the small details like how all bodies, blood and even shell casings from combat are all completely persistant through the entire playthrough, its all so ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ cool. the gun selection and handling is very unique and whilst the ammo gets a little too available for all of them by the very end of the game, the resource management for 3/4 of the game is very tight and forces you to atleast a few of these a good try.
the game also does a good bit to try to switch up what kind of areas you are fighting through and what kind of foes you encounter. my favourite has gotta be the apartment blocks especially since it got to a point i actually ran out of ammo and had to sneak through rooms to scrounge up enough ammo to finish the fight.
my biggest complaint? i wish there was more. 7 hours is more than enough for how much you pay but its less of a 'getting your money's worth' thing and more of "god i wish there was more" because this game was just so ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ fun. if you love survival horror or stuff like no more room in hell, you'll love this. dev, please make a chapter 3 even though it makes no sense for the story. i love this game\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t

the game also does a good bit to try to switch up what kind of areas you are fighting through and what kind of foes you encounter. my favourite has gotta be the apartment blocks especially since it got to a point i actually ran out of ammo and had to sneak through rooms to scrounge up enough ammo to finish the fight.
my biggest complaint? i wish there was more. 7 hours is more than enough for how much you pay but its less of a 'getting your money's worth' thing and more of "god i wish there was more" because this game was just so ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ fun. if you love survival horror or stuff like no more room in hell, you'll love this. dev, please make a chapter 3 even though it makes no sense for the story. i love this game\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t

Really cool stuff and I'm also glad to see little modifiers for future runs. Almost reminds me of the Ravenholm level of Hl2, but way more scary. Though there are some glitches Im sure that will be fixed from the future but aside from that this game is peak.
