Its just simulation slop, UI madness and worst of all content is vague. This game is just an overpriced garbage, I wouldn't bought it at this time with that price. We really shouldn't feed Corporates like this.

At first everything is sunshine and rainbows, and you feel like you're having a great time, but after you get to know it you start to realize just how bad it really is. With Hearts of Iron IV they revisited one of their classic series, covering perhaps THE most studied era of military history, especially by amateurs. This was a period of intense political conflict - and yet it has by far the worst political simulation of any of Paradox's games.

The game promotes sitting around and waiting during what feels like some cruel parody of visual novels. It's just such a bad way to handle the era, and this is without even considering the fact that you're going to have to fork out nearly $300 to have access to all the actually "good" focus trees, and often times you're not really sure what you're going to get.

The development of tech, government focuses, production, positioning are just so glacially slow that the opportunities for genuine strategic improvisation are few and far between. But if we ignore that this game is can be pretty fun especially with mods, if this game didn't had mods it might've been dead by now to be honest, I spent most of my hours playing Kaiserreich.
If you are gonna be a begineer to this game I would recommend playing a non-major power nation like Italy, and not using too much DLCs while learning the game as they can add mechanics that make the game even more complicated.\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t

honestly i feel like im playing like 50% of the game without the dlcs. I certainly appreciate the updated focus mechanics and stuff but it kinda feels awkward not having espionage or designers or anything like that.\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t
