\n\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\tIf you are a fan of idle/incremental games, even a LITTLE BIT, you need this game. Trust me. Listen, I feel like I never write reviews. Ever. But I NEED to scream from the hilltops about this game.
From the moment you start it up, it grips you. Pulls you into that familiar dopamine supplying feedback loop that if you are a fan of incremental idle games like myself you are all too familiar with. But this game just feels different. You can really truly tell how much love and time was poured into this game.
First, the obvious. The art style is cool and unique, the music is BANGIN, and the camera movement to move around and get a closer look at certain parts of the rooms feels buttery smooth. The UI is simple and easy to understand, and I love the ability to pin the ui from certain stations to a static position on the screen so you can watch your progress towards a goal. Unlocking new stations and getting upgrades for them feels super satisfying as you watch the rooms and machines change as you progress and upgrade. And we all love a good prestige system.
But then there's something special here. From the dry humor, the cute little easter eggs, all the fun skins to unlock for Joe, the way you can interact with certain elements and upgrades around the rooms. There are TONS of achievements and there are quite a few secrets to discover. Like what does that flashing lamp next to the window mean?? It has to mean something right??? You can tell the devs love what they do. I spent a good chunk of time in the demo and I can't wait to spend even more time in the full game now, and in the new content the devs have already confirmed to come some time in the future. \n\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\tWith all the slop (AI and otherwise) that shows up on steam these days, in particular in the idle and incremental genres... this is a breath of fresh air. A satisfying idler with good writing and a responsive pair of devs. It's a classic "unfolding systems" type of idle game, with an ending (which I prefer). It's longer than most "short" incremental games (which again, I prefer). Finishing it was pretty satisfying.\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t

\n\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\tThis is one of those games I wish had an option between Positive/Negative for reviews. On the whole, it's hard to recommend at $9/£7 though. It's probably a bit too long too, there's no variety between runs and there are various points where everything slows to a crawl while you mindlessly click to harvest guilt from a cat or something.
It sits right in the middle of that frustrating zone of not really being an idle game but also not having enough going on to be particularly interesting to sit with. There's little depth or variety to the various elements, you buy the upgrade and a number goes up slightly quicker.
There's two reset/prestige systems, one gives points to upgrade the various systems while the other generally speeds things up and makes number go up faster. Early on there's an interesting aspect of resetting while you won't earn any upgrade points to run different configs of certain upgrades and unlocking various permanent buffs. Beyond that both systems are pretty run of the mill, neither changes gameplay at all - neither unlocks anything or makes any noticeable difference to how you play each run.
The 'jokes' at the end actively annoyed me.
At this price point there are much better games out there. If it were half the price and the gameplay tightened up to be around half the time taken, it'd probably be quite good. As is... It's fine.\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t
