i think people didn't like the ending because its not a hollywood happy one, its just a bit sad. and makes sense for what quill would do.

The first game I've completed in a long time! I wanted to find every single thing my first playthrough, but didn't manage that 🤣 I also died multiple times during the snake boss, because I was trying to take shortcuts and seeing if I could skip some movement lol. How embarrassing, my boyfriend saw me fall off the cliffs so many times :')
The puzzles were pretty easy and I REALLY liked how they didn't particularly highlight where to go. Like all the yellow highlighting you see on ledges in other platforming games. It was fun figuring out where to go and different ways to get there :) the movement was a little jank sometimes, but I didn't mind. Other people might not like that though. I also think my controller stick is a little messed up, so that might also have contributed.
Soundtrack and visuals were awesome. I thought the narration was really fun. I got sidetracked trying to break every single thing I could destroy, like in LEGO games where you can whack pretty much all the furniture. It probably helps that I love rodents and I thought Quill was super cute. I love how the high fiving progresses through the game, wish I could high five a little mouse LOL. I was ridiculously excited the first time it happened
I felt so bad everytime I accidently drowned (some areas looked shallow enough to walk in). I noticed that the second character you play as (forgot her name, sorry) gets annoyed when you die more than like 3 times at the same spot (oops). The little details were so cool :) This is the first platform game I ever finished, now I can tackle Hollow Knight again and see if I can finish that...
I'm so sad that the studio is closing down, I was hoping to play a book 3 and see if there were going to be more allies to recruit and play as, as well as different environments (if there were any). I hope everyone is able to find jobs elsewhere!! All in all, definitely one of my favorite games, and I'll be playing it through again to try and find everything. Thank you for your hard work!!

The art is amazing, the lighting, the aesthetic are so good. Quill is adorable and I love the essence of this game. The story is intersting and I went teary-eyed more than once.
But the few negative reviews for this game reflect my views aswell.
The camera is horrendous at times, not showing you where to go, or what you need to see.
A lot of times I was just lost on what to do in the puzzles or in the fights. Constantly dropping off ledges, because the jump was just a hair too short. Dying over and over again, because I don't know what to do and don't have time to really heal. I have skipped a lot, if not all the important fights. Because I was frustrated by the time I figured out the mechanics.
Trying to collect all the collectables, you'll have to play all the levels again and pay attention, when you enter which door. Sometimes you can't go back. And you can't skip any cutscenes, so you'll have to sit though the story again, just to collect a single fragment.
The story stops pretty abruptly in the end.

\n\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\tWhat a treat this game was. For years I had hoped there would be a non VR version of this, for more people to be able to enjoy it. The art direction and especially the animations of Quill are unlike anything else out there. It's such a charming and endearing and relaxing adventure game, with so much love and passion clearly poured into it. And while the controls could have used some more flexibility, I think they did a phenomenal job at porting the VR mechanics to a standard controller. It just plays like an old school platformer/puzzle adventure game, like there are so few of these days.
Thanks Polyarc for this masterpiece, your legacy will live on! Hope all the devs find new venues and that maybe some day that the IP for Moss gets revived and that Quill's story can continue.\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t

There's also a lot of interesting characters that you see devepoling their personalities through the story. Nice balance of puzzles and platforming with combat.
The thing i didn't really like was the single-voiceover. Sometimes it felt out of place.

What makes Moss so special is the bond you build with Quill, the tiny mouse at the heart of the game. She is incredibly expressive. She looks up at you, acknowledges your presence and seeks out little moments of interaction. It makes her feel much more like a real companion than just a character you're controlling.
You guide Quill through the world, help her solve puzzles and assist her in combat. All those little moments together create a connection that I rarely feel with characters in games.

Checkpoints are very generous and keep track of puzzle progress, so when you inevitably fall to your death due to some questionable camera angles, you won't lose more than a few seconds.

1. This is a short game, don't let the 8 hours fool you, it is because i tried to find all of the secrets and collectibles. It is also from some unfair deaths due to bad camera and random jump distance.
It is just 18€ or $20 so you deside whether or not a 6-8 hour game is worth it.
2. As mentioned the camera is pretty bad. The camera is fixed making it look like a 2d game, but it is not. Most areas are 3d enviroments and with a locked camera, falling off platforms is pretty easy because a right isn't always a straight right because the platform might bend a little.
It is especially bad when going behind walls. For who knows what reason, the developers thought that it would be a great idea to make some walls see through and others not. Opting instead to make your character glow blue. Why ?
3. I know that they wanted this to feel like you are reading a book. A magical book that brings the characters to life. But having to walk in an empty straight line or a curve to enter a new are, just because you can see that in some books. Is not fun or cool. It is pointless and a waste of time.
4. The narrator just does a poor jobb, I am sorry but i had to mute the narrators voice half way through chaptor one because it just got so annoying. She either didn't care or is not an experienced voice acress.
5. A pointless swap to another character at the start of chapter 2. For whatever reason you play as another character for a bit and then swap back. It came out of no where and just makes no sense.
6. Terrible and abrupt ending. You fight rhe final boss and then a cutscene starts and then it ends.
It doesn't even look like it is going to end. The continuation is most likely is locked behind a paywall.
A small little nitpick at the end. In the first chapter you gain the ability to shoot a beam out of your sword, then it in chapter two it is just gone and you get a replacement dash ability. Why ? So random and strange.
