The tutorial is terrible and takes a lot of time and trial and error figure out how stuff works. This leads into the main issue: the time investment is huge. It takes a lot of time and effort to build a ship, which at least in the early game ive seen so far is basically a 1 use thing as you will need to change huge parts of it to do the next objective. This is especially true if you dont build optimally, which you wont at first because the tutorial is terrible. It also takes a long time to complete a basic objective (20-40) mins to go pick up a package put it in your ship (dont get me started on the fact you cant rotate the package to fit in the barely big enough doors) and come back. 90% of that is just sitting waiting to you arrive with small adjustments to flight plan.
Your directional RCS runs out which means you could spend 45 mins building a ship. 30 mins getting to an objective, and on your way home your RCS runs out and you cant steer back. This means youll need to start again and try for a more optimal route which you may or may not be able to do yet. Also the objectives dont give you enough detail on whether you can complete them yet.
However,
I do really enjoy the game play overall the ship building is fun and gives an engaging challenge.
I think a lot of the game follows a "better with friends" mentality. and doing coop would likely solve half my issues with the game
I recommend the game ONLY as a coop experience.

When you first start out, everything is hard. Landing? Sketchy at best. Interplanetary trips? You're going to love the rewind function after you splat for the 4th time. However, at some point you're going to get annoyed at how hard it is to land, and you'll build a controller of some sort, probably PID, and that will also suck -- but slightly less. You'll come back to it now and again, making little improvements and adding other systems along the way. Eventually, you'll toggle your auto-land switch and realize that your controller is cool as hell. This game is fantastic at giving you the tools to solve the problem however you see fit, and it's very rewarding when you can make your own system to do exactly what you want.
Additionally, the dev is good at giving you reasons to build new ships. New parts are unlocked as you complete missions, but it's not a case of "you need to add this slightly better block to complete the next task" so much as "omfg I HAVE THIS NEW THING that will make this SO much better."\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t

All of the components you include in your ship function realistically -- having limits and behaving how you'd expect in different environments.

Alright, 24 hours in, just got to the ringed planet. This game is interesting, but definitely has issues
- Needs controller support, I would love analog controls when keybinding the joysticks
- Needs some indication for the orientation of sensors that are orientation based it has this i'm just blind, became obvious when using the cameras
- The fact that main thrust eliminates all angular momentum can be useful, but makes using the logic blocks to construct a cohesive flight control system impossible. The block that separates negative and positive signals makes a quadcopter-esc design so easy, and I was ready to jump into self balancing, but then if thrust forward at all it completely nullifies all maneuverability from the flat engines.
- So much of my time was spent just sitting in a chair in space between planets. I figured out the braking indicator and used it to minimize the time needed, but I feel like around 40% of my time, over 9 hours of playtime, was spent like this. I have no idea how they would go about fixing this from a game design perspective but it was excruciating. I don't know what aspect of my ship's design i could have optimized to help with this, i already was so low on weight where I could be. This is also what made me give up on the "do objectives without reverting time" achievement, because if I made a single mistake once I got there, then I had to do it all over again
I might continue playing the rest of the ringed planet the wind/shield mechanic seems kind of interesting, but if the fuel powered engine doesn't solve this issue I'm probably not going on to the next location

Building and optimizing ships for different missions is always super fun and the creative mode is phenomenal for being super creative! The barrier to entry is really low because of the tutorial ships, and designing your own ship is exactly as complex of a process as you want it to be. Simple cubes to planet-hopping juggernauts, your imagination is the only limit. My only gripe would be how flying between planets can be really boring. The fast forward helps, but flying through space is really one of those things you have happening in the background while you go read a book or something. Realistic for sure, but not the most interesting gameplay.\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t

Its simple to begin with, but then requires some knowledge or Workshop which I'm trying not to use. Build ships however you want and the missions reward you with more, or more complex parts. It's an excellent game. A mix of Space Engineers, Empyrion, and From the Depths with more complexity in certain areas, and less so in others. Worth the asking price.\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t
