I was going into this game, remembering Raft. I absolutely LOVED Raft. Raft was easy going, not hard but still sometimes challenging and fun!
Don't get me wrong this game is fun, too. I've been playing a lot and i'm not even halfway through the story. But this is also where my problem starts...
Planting and delivering the first couple vegetables and clearing the first three Growlabs is all fun and games. But when exactly did we go from "build this farmes a watch tower out of these materials" to "fight 100 of fast moving ranged-bots that two-shot you and also you have to drive for like 20 minutes until you're there"? Those story missions are not really far apart from one another.
The game at first is really fun and easy (sometimes challenging but definitely manageable) and then suddenly it becomes a straight up soulslike. Bosses are WAY TOO HARD even on easy-mode. The amount and difficulty of bots spawning when planting crops straight up violate the Geneva Convention. And what i especially don't understand is why bots can be dropped inside your base. Like my base is tiny as hell and reinforced with multiple layers of concrete and metal. Then you wanna grow 20 blueberries and a wave of 50 bots first simply blow up your base (shooting you way off) and then the bots not only destroy all crops but chests, beds, seed packages and everything that's placed down.
I understand why they attack crops and soil...i also understand the beds...but chests? paint ammo? radio?
I lost like 5 hours of work in one attack.

What an upgrade from Early Access. Me and my 70 yr old dad have been playing this game for years. After 1.0 came out he's logged 1700 hrs. As a team we overcame early game farm defense hurdles, progressed through a fully fleshed out story campaign, searched through a beautiful, easy on the eyes open world. And then, the Mines! This was the coolest thing to be waiting on us into end game. An underground smelting factory ready to be brought back to life once again. We built 2 man 8 wheel crawlers with high powered lasers and Dug deep, solving each problem presented to us in turn, from enemy attacks, to becoming stuck inverted on walls 6 stories up trying to grab a valuable diamond. I dug the tunnels and he farmed the valuables with his 360 degree rotating, elevating, dual lasers. We DISCOVERED, BUILT, and MADE MEMORIES! An epic choreographed final fight with our mechanic friends was just the Cherry on top of a perfect experience. And when you think you could be done playing, a whole community of MODDERS opens up infinite possibilities. (Shout out to FANT and you're glorious propellers/gyros). I can't wait for another chapter. This is a truly wonderful experience. BUY IT and enjoy everything is has to offer. Now I'm gonna go jam to that final ending synth song because its catchy! SCRAP MECHANIC!\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t

The final straw for me was the point where I was trying to clear the 4th or so growlab and was constantly being killed instantly by tapebots. They are always able to immediately kill me, sending me back to the start of the lab for a loooong run back to the death spot, only to again be killed immediately because I can't sneak up on them-- they always spot me, aim and shoot before I even realize they are there, Even when their back is to me, they are able to spot me and shoot. No sneak up and bop 'em. They are just too alert and too fast.
Sure I can do creative mode, but that seems about as boring as this constant synthetic repetition
A real save game option would be the best way to make this game a lot less repetitive, but no... The developers are forcing this braindead repetition by only giving a bed for a respawn point and not allowing the respawn within the grow labs.\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t

The only limitation on what you can build is quite literally your own mind. Unlike trailmakers (slight diss) theres no limits to the amount of creations you can have out at once which is a huge plus for anyone who likes to work on multiple projects at a time. By far the best survival builder i've ever played and it's not even close. I can easily see myself putting over 1000 hours into this game.

\n\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\tScrap mechanic is a very hilariously designed game, with physics that make no sense whatsoever, but are very fun to work around or with. It's a game that you will enjoy if you enjoy either open world, sandbox, and especially building, it appeals to most genres except survival, contrary to the tag. You are placed on a massive island that you can explore to your hearts content, whether it be on foot or with a vehicle that you can build on your own. It can be a very simple game if you want it to be, likewise, it can be extremely complex if you prefer that. It's a unique game because it has an end goal, but you are not forced to follow the story like some other games, while you do need to progress the story in order to unlock a lot of the blocks and items to build with, you certainly can build without those parts. If you can think it, you can most probably build it, be a simple car a complicated suspension car, even a mobile base that can fly if you truly dedicate yourself to it! I have enjoyed the game for a long time, and plan to continue enjoying it for even longer, and I hope that you enjoy it as well if you decide to purchase it.

My only complaint is the voice acting of the npc's as well as the design of lorenzo in particular.
