We have made a cons list about it:
-No terraforming in creative despite tools
-The new glass texture has a diffraction effect that makes it hard to see trough its sides, especially when (for example due to a cockpit of complicated design) the player has to see through many of them. Besides the glass now has some kind of a glowing effect that makes it quite noticable (in a bad way) and in some cases it makes the glass less see through
-Some items's weight has been changed (for example the spaceship block) , therefore rendering quite a few creations that had weight balancing in mind (like spaceships) completely unusable. Our teams most praised creation, the spaceship named Crusader has fallen victim to this weight change aswell
-No option to change back the new visuals
-Not removable fog making it hard to see far away things
-Long removal time of some new parts even in creative. We find it weird and irritating that even in creative we have to suffer through the manual removal times of some multy part builds
-Every metal thing looks very shiny, and it is often times quite distracting

I watched videos and dreamed about the development of this game since before I even HAD a computer. I remember when the pistons were first introduced and watching ScrapMan's video frame by frame just to try and fail many times to make one in game. I'm going into college now. I feel like it was just days ago when I was watching that video, and just yesterday since survival first released. I wish I could explain just really how much it means to me, knowing that this game I have known for so long was going to be fully released. It makes me really happy. I'm heading to college soon. It feels like I've been growing up alongside this game, and now, about to follow my dreams in college. The whole thing feels like its come full circle. Like that first ♥♥♥♥♥♥ wave machine that barely worked, actually carried me where I needed to be.

Made even worse by the fact that the dev blogs completely misrepresented what we should've expected.
The game went from a engineering game to a generic lazy shooter/dungeon crawling game with unpolished simple mechanics paired with unnecessarily long and painful progression blocks. Experiencing ch2 isn't worth tolerating everything prior

If you disagree, go ahead, you're entitled to your opinion, but there's so much hopium that I highly doubt this game's issues will ever be fixed as I've seen glitches and bad game design being defended on various factions of the community.
I'm locking the comments as I'm tired of being notified of replies focused on trying to debunk my criticisms without actually engaging with the points I've laid out, while simultaneously claiming that they're not trying to invalidate my opinion.

- Farming is reduced to progression locks, and the new raids make it feel like you lose more than you gain

- Made worse by the fact high tier crops spawn even larger raids, further reducing their value to the player
- This gets EVEN WORSE cuz they reduced drop rates of Raiders, which means you fight hundreds of bots then need to farm hundreds more for IMPORTANT CORE INGREDIENTS
- Oh, and they doubled the required crops for creating crates for progression
- Oh, and raids now punish you for basic tactical play
- Placing the farm on a peninsula can cause bots to spawn directly on your farm or roofs
- They added red totebots which are just "♥♥♥♥ your defenses, kaboom" until way later
- I've seen people have exploders spawn on top of their crops THROUGH ROOFS because the roof has to be an arbitrary depth (definitely a glitch cuz this makes no sense)
- Placing the farm on a peninsula can cause bots to spawn directly on your farm or roofs
- The objective best foods all use low tier crops which HAVE 5X YIELD THANKS TO THE GROWBEDS
- "but what about the trades?" some of the trades are absolutely horrible and not worth it unless you're horrible at resource management, like 5 oranges for 1 mud? These prices are legit highway robbery
- 10 oranges calls down a raid with 2 Farm Bots btw

The survival has been greatly improved by removing hunger. Hunger was just an annoyance in this game. It works for survival-focused games, but that's not how this game plays. This plays with crafting and resource gathering as the dominant focus, with survival riding shotgun and supplying the great soundtrack for the trip. It's so much better without hunger.
But on to the negative aspect I mentioned; combat balancing in the Warehouses. Combat is fine in the overworld areas. It feels good. But the bots just aren't balanced right for a dungeon-crawl style of play. The warehouses are full of blue tapebots. Which are the sniper style enemy. Super accurate shots and extended range. But here's where they messed up:
Sniper enemies are supposed to be relatively stationary, they almost always have a short delay between acquiring the player as a target and firing, and they are one enemy among a group of lesser threats. Their job is to restrict the player from moving too much and to keep the player behind cover.
The devs have removed all of the weaknesses and standard features that make snipers an interesting enemy type. The blue tapebots are fully mobile. They're just as quick as any other enemy. They WILL chase you down. Their accuracy is perfect and they fire as soon as they see you with very little delay between shots. And I've seen up to 3 in a single room. In the Warehouses, you'll find yourself pinned down by shots that you can't even locate the origin of because the bot saw you first and landed hits before you could react. Which is why sniper enemies also usually have a visual element like a laser so you can locate them while pinned down. Something that's also missing from these enemies. You'll be taking shots from an enemy that's entirely hidden in the pitch-black shadows.
They turned the standards of combat balancing in dungeon-type environments on their head, but not in a good way. The warehouses just feel nasty, and at least one is necessary to progress the story and keep unlocking things. If they were completely optional, i could recommend the game in spite of them. But with something so atrociously annoying being required to progress the game, I just can't.
I love the game and I'm not going to stop playing it. If you want it just for the creative mode stuff, it's a great game. But if you're looking for story/survival, you've been warned. Thankfully, you are only required to do one warehouse per playthrough. But that was almost annoying enough for me to stop playing. It feels artificially difficult. Not difficult from intentional and good design like a Souls-like game. If the warehouses change in the near future while I'm still playing, I'll update this accordingly.\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t

Instead you took ten years of development to make a game about building vehicles and machines into a game where more than 50% of the content is played without any of that, a game where getting resources is actually easyer if you just use you hammer and the survival mode is one of the most boring grind I have ever played. Basically the car is needed only to go from A to B.
You took ten years for a 1.0 that runs worse than the early access, with graphical/light effects that make no sense and look so bad most of the times. You made a bland survival with one mele weapon, no dodge, no block or parry, no armor, no character skills or upgrades, where in the end game you can R*pe enemyes with just a simple turret on 4 wheels, where 70% of the map is copy and paste of the same f* biome. but of course people is celebrating because we are all so alone and lonely we consider this broken promise a victory.\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t

Don't worry, the enemies that spawn will rush right past you and won't drop anything at all if you kill them. The juice isn't worth the squeeze on this game. I'd refund it if I could, but the early game just straight up delays you by making everything spaced out super far between so you waste as much time as possible. I then bought the game when I got my first gaming laptop in middle school and absolutely lost my mind over the release of survival after I only bought it to play creative (Survival didn't exist then). I have been checking in on the release of chapter 2 MONTHLY for all six years. Now that it's out, I'm in adult in college, and this is an amazing pass time. Axolot games I want you to know you've defined so much of me with such an amazing game to let me exercise my creativity. Yes I touch grass I'm a collegiate powerlifting in university and I'm proud to play this game. There has been such change to it due to the release of chapter 2 and I love it all. \n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\tThis is kind of a hard review to post becuase there are so many things about Scrap Mechanic that are really fun and make it a great game, then there's all the other stuff that makes it horrible.
The game wants you to be creative and engineer solutions to things... with the utmost free-form capabilities to make the whackiest ♥♥♥♥ you can imagine... then immediately punishes you for doing so becuase oops, you didn't follow some undocumented invisible building rule. You want an XXL chest on your vehcile? Forget about that... since the physics simluation collapses the moment there's any kind of weight on bearings or suspension of any kind, while my CPU and GPU aren't even being half utilized - meanwhile the game is choding itself to sub 20fps.
Pop my vehicle on a lift and like magic, 100fps+ again.
Multiplayer only exacerbates this issue and compunds with each additonal player making it completely unplayable if any creation becomes slightly more than super basic.
There are also many inconsistencies with how the game expects you to do things. Water goes in a water container. Chemicals go in a chemical container... I only found out I could pump oil directly into a CHEST after failing to unlock an "oil container" becuase, well, it doesn't exist. Beehives and freezers cannot be automated, yet everything else can. Water or chemicals can't be pulled from a cherst into a fluid specific container, but it will push them out into a chest... why?! How is that useful? The pipe sytem is so basic and has no way to control it with logic or have valves or gates or sorters of any kind, which if we could do/have those things we could solve many issues in our designs.
I was really excited for the update, and I really liked a lot of the new content... amazing in many ways... but ultimately let down by problems that have plagued this game since it's inception. Janky physics, the inability to use more than half of the power of a 4 year old CPU and even less power from an 8 year old GPU. I still have 50% of my CPU overhead and 60% of my GPU overhead while the game is meanwhile, completely shidding the bed.
I guess it's really hard to just, turn up the load bearing capabilites of the bearings and pistons and suspension... or reduce the weight of many objects so they're no longer, practivally immovable. Why does a single XXL chest weight more than 3 times the amount of a craftbot, which is significantly larger and "in real life" would be a complex piece of machinery versus an empty box. I know which one would weigh more. Make it make sense, or maybe revisit the physics after 10 years and maybe implement Box3D since that's now available, and would almost 1000% for sure make the physics actually work.
I really wanted to give this a positive review, but the perfomance problems (that get significantly worse when in multiplayer) just make it a hard no for me. Maybe, when the next update comes out in the year 2037, I might revisit the game if they manage to fix these glaring issues.

Forget about that... since the physics simluation collapses the moment there's any kind of weight on bearings or suspension of any kind, while my CPU and GPU aren't even being half utilized - meanwhile the game is choding itself to sub 20fps.
Pop my vehicle on a lift and like magic, 100fps+ again.
Multiplayer only exacerbates this issue and compunds with each additonal player making it completely unplayable if any creation becomes slightly more than super basic.
There are also many inconsistencies with how the game expects you to do things. Water goes in a water container. Chemicals go in a chemical container... I only found out I could pump oil directly into a CHEST after failing to unlock an "oil container" becuase, well, it doesn't exist. Beehives and freezers cannot be automated, yet everything else can. Water or chemicals can't be pulled from a cherst into a fluid specific container, but it will push them out into a chest... why?! How is that useful? The pipe sytem is so basic and has no way to control it with logic or have valves or gates or sorters of any kind, which if we could do/have those things we could solve many issues in our designs.
I was really excited for the update, and I really liked a lot of the new content... amazing in many ways... but ultimately let down by problems that have plagued this game since it's inception. Janky physics, the inability to use more than half of the power of a 4 year old CPU and even less power from an 8 year old GPU. I still have 50% of my CPU overhead and 60% of my GPU overhead while the game is meanwhile, completely shidding the bed.
I guess it's really hard to just, turn up the load bearing capabilites of the bearings and pistons and suspension... or reduce the weight of many objects so they're no longer, practivally immovable. Why does a single XXL chest weight more than 3 times the amount of a craftbot, which is significantly larger and "in real life" would be a complex piece of machinery versus an empty box. I know which one would weigh more. Make it make sense, or maybe revisit the physics after 10 years and maybe implement Box3D since that's now available, and would almost 1000% for sure make the physics actually work.
I really wanted to give this a positive review, but the perfomance problems (that get significantly worse when in multiplayer) just make it a hard no for me. Maybe, when the next update comes out in the year 2037, I might revisit the game if they manage to fix these glaring issues.

I ended up with a really bad world with way too much water between me and the quests. Swimming, besides being slow, is also super dangerous because of the water bots. Not having a map made trying to navigate my way around all the water 10X worse. Farming is a big pain in the butt to do. Going to have to build defenses just to farm even if it is only a couple of plants you are trying to protect as you can't fight away the bots before one of them goes in and destroys what you are growing. I could see needing to do that for a bigger farm later in the game but not starting out and only two plants down. Healing up in the game is another painful point. The bots do a lot of damage to you and stuff like corn barely heals you. You go through the teas you loot quickly and cooking stuff means farming which I already went over. You can feed the cows corn but then you got to wait for them to pop out the milk after they slowly eat several ears of corn. Now this would not be near as bad if you didn't come back with hardly any health when you get knocked out. The bed should heal you to full!! Now there are mods you can install that will help some of these things if not all of them but you have to start a new custom game and you can no longer get achievements. Which I do understand but come on...the game SHOULD have a map.\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t
