Additionally, this entire series seems a little... well, hard to jump into. It seems like there's a BUNCH of games in this series, and I have no idea what order I'm supposed to play them in. Some of them seem like sequels to this game, others prequels. And, of course, since these are just chapters in the story, the ending felt sort of... unfulfilling, something that I wasn't aware of until later.
Ultimately, I think all of these problems could be solved if the devs marketed all of this universe's games in one big collection, maybe adding DLC for new stories, since that would give a better expectation that this is just some chapters in a larger narrative, and also help clowns like me realize that this isn't a complete story. But I'd settle for a simple 'play in this order for the full experience' tab that's easy to find. If one exists, my brain is too small to find it.

All that said, I'd reccomend this game based mainly on the fact that I want to continue the story. Lily and Sally have a really fun dynamic, and seem like a great, cursed yuri pair. I do wish that the game focused more on their relationship, but it seems like other games in the series go over stuff like that.

However, Lucy has changed quite a bit since in Case 01, since her old self probably would have written Lily off as a weakling. Lily ends up convincing her to stop the sacrifices and find a less violent way to free Indigo's soul, and Lucy actually seems to feel genuine remorse over hurting her new friend. Maybe the tragedies of Case 01 and 02 changed her perspective? The game implies that Lucy is lesbian too, which means her homophobic remarks towards Black in Case 01 could be recontextualized as internalized bigotry. I like how she became more evil in some ways (actual serial killing) while becoming a better person in other ways (showing mercy to Lily).
The ending to this game has Lily essentially go through what Marty did in Extra Case, only this time, she's spared and threatened into becoming a partner-in-crime, since Shadow has no need for Lily's body parts. It also forces Lily to face an inevitable hurdle, which is the fact that like Marty did in Extra Case, she will have to live with the fact that her crush is both a serial killer and is still obsessed with her first boyfriend, and that she might not be able to replace John in Sally's heart. It reinforces that Lily and Marty are going through similar situations, though Lily doesn't seem to have gone off the deep end yet. Maybe there's a chance she can make things right between her and Sally despite all the crimes? Also, I like how the Kawajiri family situation foreshadowed Lily struggling with accepting Sally's darker side and being complicit in covering up her crimes. Finally, I noticed that Sally herself is becoming more serial-killer-like even when her eyes aren't red to indicate Shadow's control, almost as if the two are merging. I wonder if the act of killing Marty and completing John's new body caused Sally to fully accept Shadow as herself, now that she can't turn back.

Story
This game is a continuation of the happy ending from Blood Lily Ghoststories, where the timeline split into two, and Lily seems like she'll have a chance to avoid her fate this time. In the first chapter, Sally goes missing and a journalist tells you about the serial murders that happened around the Forest Inn. Lily learns that a wicked ghost possessed the proprietors' son and using his body to murder women, while also manipulating the proprietors. The proprietors themselves are motivated by love for their son, but the husband is more reluctant than the wife, who is in denial about her son's true nature. The mystery is solved, the evil spirit is contained, and the police arrest the proprietors (who want to atone), but the son is now going to jail for circumstances beyond his control, all while he is still mentally a child. I think this was meant to mirror Sally's fate in the penultimate time loop of Extra Case, since she went to jail for Shadow's crimes, but became a pariah with no one considering her circumstances. It was also surprising to see Shadow show mercy to the son. Maybe Shadow is aware that in different circumstances, Sally could have ended up just like the son. I have mixed feelings about the silhouettes for secondary characters. This is probably for the sake of emphasizing people that Lily considers noticeable, but I am curious about their designs. Maybe a compromise would be to unlock their fully-colored appearance in the gallery after beating the game.Verdict
