sadly no book in this game but everything is colored managed items on a 15:00 timer so you cant just toss everything in and wait luckily you can speed up the time

first of all i'm a MASSIVE fan of the SFL series. its one of my favourite kinda modern esc monster dating sims, i like the twist, i like the gameplay etc.
date to die for was the peak of the series it perfectly formatted everything that made these games good, likable datables, funny dialog, good gameplay and great art
all of these are shockingly absent from crush landing
the datables- good lord hheily is a NOTHING BURGER, I genuinely do not know why the MC (mind you who is INSUFFERABLE in this game) is attracted to her other than her being a "hot babe". She has absolutely no personality other than wanting to kiss the mc and the annoying trope of not being able to say anything other than what she's been taught. you know its bad when i'm actively BEGGING the main character to send her HOME she's given me absolutely nothing to root for.
its such a crying shame too as the color out of space is such a fascinating story, a real good cosmic horror story, play look outside if you want a better interpretation of a color out of space. i get why hheily looks like that but god her design is so BORING compared to previous datables.
funny dialogue- this might be because the mc is one of the more insufferable Mc's ive played but the humour for this game falls so so so flat, i get im playing a dating sim but does every joke need to be something sex related, i got a good chuckle out of some parts but most of the time i found the mc trying to be funny so nail biting insufferable.
the gameplay- "hey you wanna collet a buncha stuff for an hour where if you learned you messed up right at the end you gotta start again? also the gameplay is just look around your house for 20 minutes solving a bare bones puzzle?". i have no idea why its like this either SFl has always had decent out of VN gameplay idk why they decided to make crush landing so drab.
the art- the art is mostly fine but for some reason every talk sprite of every character has this weird issue of lapping incorrectly, you can see where their talk model starts as their chin will raise off the model and bug out details like facial hair and hell even skintone's will be slightly wrong so you can tell its wrong.
the Mc- i wasnt going to talk about the mc as hey its normal for some vns just to have an unlikable protag and i'm not saying they needed to make this guy a polished off good boy i love me some edge on my characters but good lord is he unlikable. He's a womanizer, He's essentially a host, someone paid to go on dates with women which is fine but this guy has actively RUINED peoples lives, ignores blame for his actions until it blows up in his face and actively doesnt care if his actions destroy humanity even though his best friend BEGS HIM to not do that.
hheily is killing people and unlike in other SFL scenarios he can ACTIVELY STOP THIS yet even when people are killed because of his actions he'll be bummed out for a moment and then go "oh well hheily will be a net good for humanity"
it takes the world almost ending for him to go "oh wait! this is MY FAULT". He really doesn't learn anything by the end either, its just "well, time to get my life back on track" or hheily for some reason really wanting this sack of ♥♥♥♥ even though he actively does horrible things around her.

I still haven't gotten a true ending yet, but it is a fun puzzle game. Love the art style and designs. Also the way horror is implemented into the game is cool.

it doesn't really have anything going for it:
-no cool rituals
-no real threat to avoid (there is darkness, but you have to go out of your way to seek it and even then it's barely there)
-the story is a nothing burger "hey a meteor crashed in the insufferable-piece-of-♥♥♥♥-mc's house, feed her colors until she can ♥♥♥♥ off"
-the gameplay is annoying, some colors are too easy to find, red is basically everywhere, while others are ridiculously hard. blue only has one easy thing, the crawfish, after that it's maybe the ramens if you didn't already use them on another, and then you have to rely on luck to get the right flower from the letter until the mc randomly decides he doesn't want to bother opening any more), and then you're ♥♥♥♥♥♥ and have to start over
i feel like these points could have been improved quite easily too by making darkness a bigger threat, where seeking it out was nessessary for the best ending, then rituals could be added to the gameplay to fend off darkness or create collors for hhailey; the darkness's attacks/underlings could exploit the mc's flaws to force him to become a better person.
obviously it's not all bad, there are some good points too, some of the interactions are funny/touching for exemple, but it's not enough to make up for the bad one, it's just kind of disapointing for me. i still like crush landing, but unlike the other two games i wouldn't recommend it to a friend\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t

Art: I love the art, it is wonderful (Nothing more to say here, I just really liked the art)
Stability: Day one launches for the SFL games have been rough, I am very happy to say that this time it was not the case. I have run into, at most, one or MAYBE two bugs. I am just very happy with this and I want to give credit where it is due. Good job on your day one launch!
Gameplay: Let me start by saying I am really happy that the developer does not want to do exact same thing over and over. But the risk of doing something different is that it sometimes will not land as well. I like the branching feel of it, I liked the evaluation I got at the end (I do not go to the bathroom too much, thank you, Hheily) but the pacing can feel a bit jarring at times. Either things happen/resolve too fast, or nothing is happening and you kinda just have to sit and look at the meteor(ite) and feed it blank objects cause you have no clue what to do now. Though I personally preferred the story from the previous two games, this was still a very good entry.
MC: MC this time around just didn't click with me. Maybe I just don't get it. I liked Darling and Stardust more but that is a minor thing in the grand scheme of things.
Overall: While there are certain aspects of this game I thought were quite creative, and the branching actions you take do sometimes feel pretty cool (when they work out), the gameplay loop and story (that I've played so far) have clicked with me the least of the three games but I still really enjoyed it and I easily recommend it.\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t

So when the game finally dropped, I snatched it up as soon as it landed on the Steam sale page and dove straight in. And I have loved every second of playing ~\\(≧▽≦)/~
I'll keep it vague so i don't spoil anything but:
The different endings you can get right off the bat are downright hilarious.
From laughing to screaming like a possum at my own choices, the dialogue is absolutely to die for, the art is sublime, and the music is magnificent.
And I have to give special praise to the colors, because as a colorblind goblin, I found the palette incredibly friendly and easy to follow. Everything is so wonderfully saturated without becoming difficult for me to distinguish.
I played for almost four hours straight today, got two of the endings, and somehow came away thinking, "Okay, but I need to play more."
So I fully plan on going back for the rest of the endings throughout this week. 😂
Sucker for Love is already one of my favorite series, so I went into Crush Landing with some pretty high expectations.

So far, it’s been a captivating game, with excellent art and sound design, hilarious dialogue and situations, and a dash of horror to spice the experience. After I've played it more thoroughly, this review will be expanded but for now, I recommend the game.
However, I can’t recommend it because the game suffers from absurd lag and slowness. Even with all the positive qualities I’ve attributed to the game, it was difficult and frustrating to have to put up with the terrible performance.
The lag starts when the Hheily meteorite appears on the screen, probably due to the fire animation and its effects. And I’m almost certain this problem is with the game itself, since I played the demo and there was no lag. Until this issue is resolved, won’t continue playing and I might request a refund.
Update: Followed AndrzejRaptor47Pl's (thank you) advice in the comments and set my graphics card settings to high performance, which helped reduce the lag, but not completely. The last change I had to make was to cap the FPS at 30. Now the game runs perfectly.\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t

I have also gotten two endings, but nowhere can I see what endings I have gotten, I believe in the previous games you could see what endings you got, and what endings you were still missing. Its an odd feature to not suddenly not include. But I could be wrong about this.

Still wish we could do another playthrough like the book in the first game, mostly because believe the rituals are really fun and interesting which drew me into the series to begin with. To start, let me praise the game for what is good. The characters, humor and soundtrack are great as usual, but these can only carry the game so much before you start to feel a bitter taste over all the bad things.
It goes back to the first game's roots and turns it into an item gathering puzzle, that honestly feels overstayed by halfway into the story (which is VERY short this time). The gameplay is the worst in the series, it is so simple that it hurts itself with how boring it feels. It gets even worse with the bugs at launch (One ending that is tied to an achievement is currently impossible due to said bugs). As said before, this one is also the shortest in the series, which really is a bother when it is even more expensive than the previous one.
Some parts also feel severely half-baked, the last section (the third heart) just auto-plays itself, regardless of which ending you are going for, which makes an already short game feel even smaller. The other God, which is mentioned as the main "Bad guy" in here is also heavily disconnected from the main gameplay, requiring you to go out of your way to do a "side-quest" for them to even do anything. This makes the story feel even more rushed and disconnected from itself.
The worst offender really is Hheily, all previous girls were very lively and had many interactions to basically anything you did, Hheily is the complete opposite. Interactions with her are going to be 90% to move the story, only a few 3 or so items actually have her react to them. She has little to no personality and her design is super boring. All of this just amounts to what feels like such a downgrade to literally every other girl in the series.
Overall I'm giving this one a negative, I do not think the game is bad, but it is a downgrade to what we had before, this feels oddly unfinished/rushed and I cannot recommend with it's current price.
