To my mind, a game like this has four major components - art, story, characters, and mechanics. I'll cover each of them briefly.
Art - by far the best category. Better than the previous two games, no notes except for the lack of a gallery, or really satisfying CGs to put in it. Minor complaints, but the game looks and sounds great.
Story - Pretty big let down here. There are lots of endings, as with the other games, but they're laid out in a confusing way and don't have much depth. Most of them are pretty sudden, either insinuating more will happen later or just cutting the story short entirely. There's nothing wrong with it, per se, but it lacks the strong throughline and development that the other games had with their stories. A mile wide and an inch deep, if you will.
Characters - Much the same as the story category. Aside from Dude and Hheily, most of the characters get two brief scenes. They're likeable enough across the board, but they lack the depth of the characters in the other games, and frankly there aren't THAT many more, so quantity isn't the issue. Hheily herself is cute and endearing, and I like her a lot, but she suffers from the same lack of depth. The other girls get more development in a single act than she gets across the entire game.
In short, they work, but they lack the depth and humanity that made the other games so great.

Unfortunately, the encounters aren't particularly varied, so it's just a matter of choosing the right options. But the main issue is the lack of a timeline. No longer can you jump to any scene you've played before, now you have a traditional save/load/new game system. This doesn't sound too bad, but combined with the repetitive gameplay and RNG, it makes for a frustrating grind getting all the endings. Plus, since you can no longer see the timeline, you don't know WHERE the choice for missing endings is made.
Also, just due to the nature of the game, it's easy to screw yourself early on and not realize it until later, making all your saves up to that point useless.
It's not a bad game, but it really doesn't have the depth of its predecessors. Feels more like an art/tech demo than a full game. If you love the other games, get it. first of all i'm a MASSIVE fan of the SFL series. its one of my favourite kinda modern esc monster dating sims, i like the twist, i like the gameplay etc.
date to die for was the peak of the series it perfectly formatted everything that made these games good, likable datables, funny dialog, good gameplay and great art
all of these are shockingly absent from crush landing
the datables- good lord hheily is a NOTHING BURGER, I genuinely do not know why the MC (mind you who is INSUFFERABLE in this game) is attracted to her other than her being a "hot babe". She has absolutely no personality other than wanting to kiss the mc and the annoying trope of not being able to say anything other than what she's been taught. you know its bad when i'm actively BEGGING the main character to send her HOME she's given me absolutely nothing to root for.
its such a crying shame too as the color out of space is such a fascinating story, a real good cosmic horror story, play look outside if you want a better interpretation of a color out of space. i get why hheily looks like that but god her design is so BORING compared to previous datables.
funny dialogue- this might be because the mc is one of the more insufferable Mc's ive played but the humour for this game falls so so so flat, i get im playing a dating sim but does every joke need to be something sex related, i got a good chuckle out of some parts but most of the time i found the mc trying to be funny so nail biting insufferable.
the gameplay- "hey you wanna collet a buncha stuff for an hour where if you learned you messed up right at the end you gotta start again? also the gameplay is just look around your house for 20 minutes solving a bare bones puzzle?". i have no idea why its like this either SFl has always had decent out of VN gameplay idk why they decided to make crush landing so drab.
the art- the art is mostly fine but for some reason every talk sprite of every character has this weird issue of lapping incorrectly, you can see where their talk model starts as their chin will raise off the model and bug out details like facial hair and hell even skintone's will be slightly wrong so you can tell its wrong.
the Mc- i wasnt going to talk about the mc as hey its normal for some vns just to have an unlikable protag and i'm not saying they needed to make this guy a polished off good boy i love me some edge on my characters but good lord is he unlikable. He's a womanizer, He's essentially a host, someone paid to go on dates with women which is fine but this guy has actively RUINED peoples lives, ignores blame for his actions until it blows up in his face and actively doesnt care if his actions destroy humanity even though his best friend BEGS HIM to not do that.
hheily is killing people and unlike in other SFL scenarios he can ACTIVELY STOP THIS yet even when people are killed because of his actions he'll be bummed out for a moment and then go "oh well hheily will be a net good for humanity"
it takes the world almost ending for him to go "oh wait! this is MY FAULT". He really doesn't learn anything by the end either, its just "well, time to get my life back on track" or hheily for some reason really wanting this sack of ♥♥♥♥ even though he actively does horrible things around her.
overall a 2/10. play date to die for instead its the best SFL game and improves the format in every way.
edit- one more thing, im not someone to complain on game prices, i personally believe indie devs should be able to charge whatever they want for a product its my choice to buy it and playtime doesn't equal quality in most cases. however it was a MASSIVE choice that SFL crushlanding is the shortest SFL game, doesn't have a lot of alt stuff to do (to be fair on the game i didn't even bother with the alt route maybe there's something there that makes my 11 pounds worth it but i was so fed up by the time i finished i couldn't bother) and overall has less stuff to do and yet to date it is the most expensive entry.
for example- SFL date to die for doesn't have a lot of alt stuff to do, its very linear but gameplay and story alone it is around 3 - 4 hours meanwhile CL for's base route is a shocking 1-2 hours and 2 hours was because i was personally playing with someone else who was pretty busy and kept afking. my first playthrough of CL was 1 hour and 20 minutes that's pretty bad for a vn at least I think so. even most parody Vn's i have played have managed to grace the 3 hour mark\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t

sadly no book in this game but everything is colored managed items on a 15:00 timer so you cant just toss everything in and wait luckily you can speed up the time

A number of items you can get can seemingly only be gotten through luck, and can show up at various points during your playthrough. For a game that mainly relies around a single puzzle, in which it is *extremely* important to know what items you are going to have access to and when, this has led to constant frustrating moments where I do something that would have made sense, only for some random thing to happen that makes it retroactively a misplay.
Another huge point of contention for me is the absence of standard visual novel features like an option to skip read dialogue but pause on new lines (you can only skip all dialogue with no regard for if you've seen it before or not), or a dialogue history. it doesn't really have anything going for it:
-no cool rituals

-the story is a nothing burger "hey a meteor crashed in the insufferable-piece-of-♥♥♥♥-mc's house, feed her colors until she can ♥♥♥♥ off"
-the gameplay is annoying, some colors are too easy to find, red is basically everywhere, while others are ridiculously hard. blue only has one easy thing, the crawfish, after that it's maybe the ramens if you didn't already use them on another, and then you have to rely on luck to get the right flower from the letter until the mc randomly decides he doesn't want to bother opening any more), and then you're ♥♥♥♥♥♥ and have to start over looks like the last update mostly fixed this, might still take a reload or two but it's not nearly as bad as before
i feel like these points could have been improved quite easily too by making darkness a bigger threat, where seeking it out was nessessary for the best ending, then rituals could be added to the gameplay to fend off darkness or create collors for hhailey; the darkness's attacks/underlings could exploit the mc's flaws to force him to become a better person.
obviously it's not all bad, there are some good points too, some of the interactions are funny/touching for exemple, but it's not enough to make up for the bad one, it's just kind of disapointing for me. i still like crush landing, but unlike the other two games i wouldn't recommend it to a friend\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t

\n\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\tI like this game, Pretty good. Although the color thing could have been done better you're left scrambling to find anything to feed the comet that hasn't been overexposed. You have to rely on the various NPC's to get color and it's random what they give. If you're lucky they give you what you need but then they might give you something you already have and fed to the comet.
Blue, Purple, and Green are the hardest to obtain outside of what you already have in your apartment. Twice I had gotten purple from an NPC (If you choose the correct dialogue choices) and twice I got blue from NPC's which I had to exploit cause there was no other option. So now you're left planning how to gather every single color after starting a new save or rolling back your current save. It turns into a game of strategy after you know which NPC's give which colors and how you should pick colors up inside your apartment or balcony.
Also another thing I found weird. You have the option to call Maria and invite her to your apartment but she never showed up even when calling her was the very first action I did. Did the Devs just... forget she exists after the call?
Anyway, it doesn't really land right compared to the other ones. Instead it landed, stumbled forward, didn't have enough time to catch itself. But that doesn't mean it's all bad though. Yes, Sucker for love always had a questionable gameplay, but you could always get a solution on second / third try, not here - "runs" are randomised and it isn't even clear what game asks from the player, cause sometimes player is left without items any items to progress.
Ok, what about something other than gameplay... Art is ok I guess, but the love interest design is meh. The writing is questionable, interations with visitors are espesially strange and annoying.

Honestly, I don’t miss the rituals that much, since they often amounted to following instructions in the right order, but their absence definitely makes this entry feel different.
And once again, the tone has changed considerably.
This might actually be my favorite entry so far. Hheily feels much more eldritch than our previous love interests: heartwarming and strangely adorable, but also profoundly alien. The things happening around her are genuinely unsettling, and the story leans much harder into cosmic horror. If you're expecting the mostly comedic flirting of the first game, this one is considerably darker.
The side characters were also a pleasant surprise. You don't build relationships with them the way you did in the second game, but their short encounters are colorful, well written, and can develop in different ways depending on how you approach them.
I also like the small amount of planning involved in deciding which colors to preserve depending on the encounters you get. There are multiple endings and some randomness you can manipulate, although sometimes the game feels surprisingly determined to push you back onto a particular route.
My biggest down is how much time we spend with Hheily. For a game centered around her, we actually spend less time talking to her than I expected. I really wish there were more unique conversations, things to feed her, and endings based specifically on how we choose to interact with her. She feels a little too passive.

Firstly, I adore sucker for love. Can't get enough
Secondly this game is really fun when you get in the swing of it, and all of the dialogue put a smile on my face.
HOWEVER!
This game is atrociously short for the price tag. I say this even after enjoying the game immensely, even if I've only played though my first ending.
This game needs bare minimum twice the amount of play time than it has. I fully expected like two to three extra parts like have been in every game before, but it is shockingly small in scope.
Due to this I cannot recommend anyone buying this game unless they are a true sucker for love like me. Not at the price it sits. (To be harsh, mind you I'm saying this out of love, this feels like a demo for the real game. Not because it feels incomplete, just sorely lacking in stuff to do. I expect I could do literally everything this game has to offer in another hour, maybe 2. For 13 SMACKERS??? THAT'S RIDICULOUS! IN THE TIME IT TOOK ME TO BEAT THE GAME AND GET A SATISFYING ENDING WHILE ALSO DELVING INTO PLENTY OF DIALOGUE WITH VISITORS AND NEIGHBORS, I COULD REFUND THE GAME! 1.3 HOURS OF PLAYTIME! I spent 10 dollars for every hour played. That's silly.)
I don't want to sound pretentious but I do genuinely expect more from Akabaka as a long time fan from their dread collection days.
So I don't ramble on to much longer, I'll cut myself off here with a begrudging negative review. Once I 100% the game I may be feeling more lenient, but at the time of writing this I can't help but feel a little disappointed. Even in spite of my enjoyment.\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t

I absolutely love the SFL games but sadly this game felt like it was missing a lot from the past games that made them really fun to play through.
Crush landing (CL) felt extremely lacking in content while also being overambitious with it's gameplay mechanics of managing colored items to feed to Hheily, making the gameplay and NPCs that you interact with throughout the game feel super flat. It feels like I played a demo of what could've been and not the actual game I spent around 11 dollars for.
The gameplay, like I mentioned in my little intro to this review, feels flat while also having a lot of potential. Once you've gone through the game once, you have played all of it gameplay-wise. It lacks the rituals from the first 2 other games which isn't really too big of a deal for me since I like it when devs mix it up a bit and create new unique ways of interacting with the world around you. But the way it was done in this game was just a downgrade from the last games. It turned into a game where you need to rely on RNG most of the time and hoping you get the items and NPCs you need to setup the endings and paths you want to go to. The timer system was also a horrible idea, basically putting you in a sense of urgency at ALL TIMES no matter the situation, and running out of items is the worst feeling ever. Basically having the game tell you that you ♥♥♥♥♥♥ up and now you need to reload a save from the beginning of the game because you messed up and lost an item you needed (Or you could wait up to 10-15 minutes for the bad ending once the timer expires). Another thing that was COMPLETELY REMOVED from the game was the "Story Paths Menu" (whatever its called) from the first game making the secret and ending hunting cohesive and simple. It took me extremely long to get certain endings because it either didn't make sense and made me check the achievements to figure it out there or the NPC RNG ♥♥♥♥♥♥ things up and made it impossible for me to have the event happen forcing me to redo my whole game save again. On a more positive note, The 360 degree viewpoint compared to the first games' limited view is a huge upgrade that felt natural after a bit of getting used to. There is a lot more I can say but I don't want this review being a thousand words long.
The art I love as usual but this game also felt like it was holding back a bit. Certain parts of the game look beautiful like the true endings and environments you play in for example, while certain character portraits look flat or rushed. Don't get me wrong though, the art for the game is very pretty. I will say, the main gal for this game, Hheily was an extremely boring design compared to all the other main gals from the other games. Ln'eta, Nyanlathotep and Rhok'zan are my favorites from all the past games but Hheily felt super bland design-wise especially for the concept of a sentient "god" meteorite. It felt extremely disappointing seeing her character fall flat especially for her being the main gal for this game.
The story felt pointless... Your MC's motivation is literally just doing something other than being stuck in the same cycle of self destruction with his Club Host Lifestyle. It feels like his own motivations are such a downgrade compared to the last games. He literally is just deciding to start the end of the world and has the choice to sacrifice other people because he felt like it and was greedy. The true ending is just feeding Hheily all the good items and making sure she has 3 good hearts instead of the broken ones, and then she just leaves and makes everything slightly more colorful after the "PARADE". All the people that died because of the both of you do not come back, all your items do not come back, and now you're left worse off than how you were before somehow. I have absolutely nothing positive to say about the story sadly. The dialogue is serviceable, some jokes are funny, A good chunk of them aren't unfortunately. But the VAs did a good job as they always do in these games. Honestly the only reason this section has a 2/10 instead of a 0/10 is literally just because of the VAs doing a great job.

Yeah, he doesn't really care about her much... IN AN COSMIC HORROR DATING SIM. And she cares about him a bit only because its ALL SHE KNOWS. The second she landed in his apartment, she was born and needs to learn things from the environment like the items you give her and the conversations you have with her. (It is scripted so you can't change how she reacts to certain things) There is absolutely NO Chemistry between them which is a far cry from the other games, properly setting up a relationship with the characters slowly across multiple rituals and conversations. The MC is also extremely unlikeable in this game and I'm astonished at how he's still a Club host with how uncharismatic and stupid he is. Other than the MC and Hheily, throughout the game you find these NPCs that show up at your door that have mutations from the meteor or random personal ♥♥♥♥ going on that has nothing to do with the story that you have to engage with to beat the game. Although, the idea on paper is great but like most gameplay mechanics in this game, it feels super barebones. The only way to actually have these NPCs come back to help you later on, you need to just turn them away from coming into your apartment which is a no-brainer once you've gotten past the first heart (because story reasons I will not explain). The stalker NPC is also extremely stupid I HATE HER she doesn't make sense. Another NPC that you rarely ever interact with is the SENTIENT DARKNESS, an NPC that only shows up if you fill up a bar that is barely explained and honestly it really doesn't matter. Now for the Romance Options... A whole lotta nothing sadly. The main gal Hheily, I have already talked about why she isn't a good one. The second romance option is Maria, The Red-haired chick you are on a date with at the beginning of the game and honestly she is the best romance option for the MC. They have better chemistry and a proper history together working at the same club. The third romance option is the stalker, Midori (I think maybe I forgot her name). Her romance ending is basically a bad ending because she is a crazy psycho who would probably hurt you again if you didn't want to be with her. She's also super rich so you're basically set for life but you aren't emotionally fulfilled. The final romance option is the SENTIENT DARKNESS, you just need to choose the correct dialogue options once you've finally filled up the darkness bar that rarely ever goes up. Honestly I don't really care about the sentient darkness because it just doesn't make sense as a character. Trying to connect it back to the other games gives me a headache because it contradicts itself.
I'm very sorry for turning super negative and disorganized near the end but I had to write out my thoughts on this game or I would've lost my mind. I love this game series and I want it to improve. I would not recommend this game to any of my friends, even diehard SFL players. It has positives but the negatives are super prevalent and it makes me sad.

Crush landing (CL) felt extremely lacking in content while also being overambitious with it's gameplay mechanics of managing colored items to feed to Hheily, making the gameplay and NPCs that you interact with throughout the game feel super flat. It feels like I played a demo of what could've been and not the actual game I spent around 11 dollars for.
Gameplay
3/10The gameplay, like I mentioned in my little intro to this review, feels flat while also having a lot of potential. Once you've gone through the game once, you have played all of it gameplay-wise. It lacks the rituals from the first 2 other games which isn't really too big of a deal for me since I like it when devs mix it up a bit and create new unique ways of interacting with the world around you. But the way it was done in this game was just a downgrade from the last games. It turned into a game where you need to rely on RNG most of the time and hoping you get the items and NPCs you need to setup the endings and paths you want to go to. The timer system was also a horrible idea, basically putting you in a sense of urgency at ALL TIMES no matter the situation, and running out of items is the worst feeling ever. Basically having the game tell you that you ♥♥♥♥♥♥ up and now you need to reload a save from the beginning of the game because you messed up and lost an item you needed (Or you could wait up to 10-15 minutes for the bad ending once the timer expires). Another thing that was COMPLETELY REMOVED from the game was the "Story Paths Menu" (whatever its called) from the first game making the secret and ending hunting cohesive and simple. It took me extremely long to get certain endings because it either didn't make sense and made me check the achievements to figure it out there or the NPC RNG ♥♥♥♥♥♥ things up and made it impossible for me to have the event happen forcing me to redo my whole game save again. On a more positive note, The 360 degree viewpoint compared to the first games' limited view is a huge upgrade that felt natural after a bit of getting used to. There is a lot more I can say but I don't want this review being a thousand words long.
Art and Designs
6.5/10The art I love as usual but this game also felt like it was holding back a bit. Certain parts of the game look beautiful like the true endings and environments you play in for example, while certain character portraits look flat or rushed. Don't get me wrong though, the art for the game is very pretty. I will say, the main gal for this game, Hheily was an extremely boring design compared to all the other main gals from the other games. Ln'eta, Nyanlathotep and Rhok'zan are my favorites from all the past games but Hheily felt super bland design-wise especially for the concept of a sentient "god" meteorite. It felt extremely disappointing seeing her character fall flat especially for her being the main gal for this game.
Story and Dialogue
2/10The story felt pointless... Your MC's motivation is literally just doing something other than being stuck in the same cycle of self destruction with his Club Host Lifestyle. It feels like his own motivations are such a downgrade compared to the last games. He literally is just deciding to start the end of the world and has the choice to sacrifice other people because he felt like it and was greedy. The true ending is just feeding Hheily all the good items and making sure she has 3 good hearts instead of the broken ones, and then she just leaves and makes everything slightly more colorful after the "PARADE". All the people that died because of the both of you do not come back, all your items do not come back, and now you're left worse off than how you were before somehow. I have absolutely nothing positive to say about the story sadly. The dialogue is serviceable, some jokes are funny, A good chunk of them aren't unfortunately. But the VAs did a good job as they always do in these games. Honestly the only reason this section has a 2/10 instead of a 0/10 is literally just because of the VAs doing a great job.
The MC, NPCS and Romance Options

But the risk of doing something different is that it sometimes will not land as well. I like the branching feel of it, I liked the evaluation I got at the end (I do not go to the bathroom too much, thank you, Hheily) but the pacing can feel a bit jarring at times. Either things happen/resolve too fast, or nothing is happening and you kinda just have to sit and look at the meteor(ite) and feed it blank objects cause you have no clue what to do now. Though I personally preferred the story from the previous two games, this was still a very good entry.
MC: MC this time around just didn't click with me. Maybe I just don't get it. I liked Darling and Stardust more but that is a minor thing in the grand scheme of things.
Overall: While there are certain aspects of this game I thought were quite creative, and the branching actions you take do sometimes feel pretty cool (when they work out), the gameplay loop and story (that I've played so far) have clicked with me the least of the three games but I still really enjoyed it and I easily recommend it.\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t

There are some complaints for the game being short, I suspect they got a single ending and called it a day, there are several, and honestly it took me more than one run to figure out HOW to manipulate events and find new variables to further affect the outcomes. I have played both the other Sucker For Love games and enjoyed them both, the first one was a super fun game that functioned as a dating sim parody. The second was a survival horror crawler simulator with a strong personality and good story.
This one... Functions as an escape room puzzle where you want to try and feed certain items into the meteor in a certain order while triggering certain events to get specific outcomes. And it ends up feeling less like a mock dating sim and more like a single big puzzle. I frequently had to restart this game while learning the pathing to take and how over exposure works. Also the horror is significantly less... Horrifying? When you basically have to repeat the same process over and over to figure out the method to progress, it removes almost any tension. Also the door lock felt almost completely useless for the entirety of the game with only specific scenarios it even remotely mattering, and even than I'm not sure if it did?
THE REAL FUN is in the hidden sub scenarios that can pop up when certain things happen, I have only found a few of those so far and will likely play more to find others. Also the characters are enjoyable enough that I enjoyed reading through them the first time to get to know them.
I still enjoyed the game over all mainly because of the characters involved and some fun dialog, but it feels like a big step backwards from the previous two titles in terms of game design. If you like escape room-esk puzzle scenarios, this game is probably a pretty good time. But if you came looking for something even remotely approaching a dating sim parody like the first game your going to be sorely disappointed.

\n\n\t\t\t\tI have played both the other Sucker For Love games and enjoyed them both, the first one was a super fun game that functioned as a dating sim parody. The second was a survival horror crawler simulator with a strong personality and good story.
This one... Functions as an escape room puzzle where you want to try and feed certain items into the meteor in a certain order while triggering certain events to get specific outcomes. And it ends up feeling less like a mock dating sim and more like a single big puzzle. I frequently had to restart this game while learning the pathing to take and how over exposure works. Also the horror is significantly less... Horrifying? When you basically have to repeat the same process over and over to figure out the method to progress, it removes almost any tension. Also the door lock felt almost completely useless for the entirety of the game with only specific scenarios it even remotely mattering, and even than I'm not sure if it did?
THE REAL FUN is in the hidden sub scenarios that can pop up when certain things happen, I have only found a few of those so far and will likely play more to find others. Also the characters are enjoyable enough that I enjoyed reading through them the first time to get to know them.

As I progressed through the game, I interacted with the neighbor. I thought, “Okay, he’ll be the one who gives me the ritual book or provides me with information on how to deal with the girl/creature.” But none of that happens. He simply asks for items and provides banal, largely useless information.

This game goes hard thought it was only a meme. Iv never played a game from this series beforer but i greatly appreciate the depth and IQ requrements required to fathom the unfathomable and pick up on the easily looked over details to glimpse the futures to come so you can weave the most halcyon or elysian of futures and glimpse forbiden eldrich mysterys.
Not sure how people are negatively rating this game unless they just cant comprehend the game or are looking for more questionable content but id rate this at least a 8.5/10 and thats without even factoring in the game is cheaper than a subway sandwhich.
