\n\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\tI want to like Sublight but I just can't. I love the idea of piloting hulking capital ships, and being able to customize your weapons on the fly. The vision is there, but sadly at this point the execution simply falls short.
The most critical problem is that nothing feels like it has any impact. It all feels floaty, chaotic, and claustrophobic. Weapons either are entirely lost in the chaos or completely dominate (looking at you shotguns). Taking damage offers basically no feedback. Enemies are all effectively the same, and there's mechanics like ramming that just... have no opportunity to get used?
Though I do love the in-session damage totals information is often scarce. What is discharge? Unclear. Is there a reason to pick plasma weapons for it? Probably not? Almost all the upgrades are either for Kinetic or Explosive. Want to get a new ship? Well don't get the Kinetic specialist frigate until the third level and unlock railguns because it has a weapon slot that only shoots straight forward and there's no way of knowing that before you buy it.
Having played the first three levels I don't really understand what the differences are supposed to be. It's neat that there's ground units on one but the bright snow background is an eye strain and makes it hard to see effects and upgrade boxes. Beyond slightly different "bosses" there's no difference. Not even environmental hazards like damaging nebulae or wind pushing you around or anything.
Add to that the gameplay is constantly being interrupted with level up and chest selection pauses. Opening and rerolling come with a small delay each time. It's so bad 16 minutes of game time took me 30 minutes real time. By ~10 minutes you're pretty much maxed on weapons but the boxes still love to offer them!
I hope the devs are able to rebalance things to feel snappier and more weighty. I'll update this review if that does happen, but I just can't recommend it right now in such a saturated genre.\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t

and since i didnt unlock other weapons the rng is on side since the pool of items i can get are small
that was easy enough to beat the 6 maps on max difficulty
and now unlocking more things will only decrease the odds to get desired perks/weapons since there are more items in the pool\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t

Instead of trying to dodge hordes of enemies as you spam spells and attacks, you maneuver a bulky but mighty warship around the galaxy. The ship is effectively a very, very customizable weapons platfrom, and your goal is to become more lethal at such a rate, that you're largely unbothered by swarms of enemies.
This game has a tremendous amount of diversity, with many different kinds of weapons and an Armory that allows you to unlock more with the Credits you earn from your run. Different cooldown abilities and captains can be equipped to your ship. The enemy types are also diverse, and lots of interesting things can be found as you travel the map. I haven't played enough to get a grasp of what they all are, but there are item caches, shops, beacons to defend, and bigger enemy ships.

If you like other games of this genre, like Vampire Survivors, Wanderburg, ect, you'll certainly love this one. Graphics, game progresion and action are all nice. You get different ships and gear them up through level ups and drop boxes, you can also level existing weapons up in terms of tiers, which of course makes them stronger.
What this games does really well is giving some long term motivation goals. You get ingame cash after every run to unlock new ships, weapon-tiers, and even buff the items that drop (like increasing a +hp item from +10% to +20% and then +30%). So having something to invest into after those runs keeps one coming back. That and shooting stuff - also on planets! - with an increasingly powerful area of effect deathmachine is quite satisfying! :D

Recently I had been looking for a fair successor to one of my favorites of all time: Fractured Space (RIP) and this looked somewhat the part. After reading a bit more, I realized this was not in fact a FS similar game, but rather something that scratches a somewhat Pathogenic / Space Scavengers / Nova Drift itch, which is great company to be in.
So what does this game try to do?
Gameplay loop is an autoshooter where you pilot a ship and can distinctly control the build. It's somewhere between a twin stick style game and something like snake.io
It's very low friction - you get right into battle and immediately can enjoy the game.
Mechanics are fairly simple, but with plenty of scaling. A lot of weapons are somewhat linearly scaling however there's enough diversity that the lack of asymmetry isn't really bothersome.
You can build pretty differently depending on your preferences, with power-ups which buff ram damage, reduce ram damage taken, you can add hangars on your ship which becomes something of a pet-adjacent build.
It seems to hit a good balance between relaxing gameplay to hop in after work and enough build identity that can be placed that it's not repetitive.

\n\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\tThere's the makings of a great game here but still needs a lot of work. - I've played enough to know that the battle ship is very customisable. - Though huge, clunky and slow to turn but I assume this is a deliberate game design. Due to upgrades being "Turn 5% faster"
The actual ship itself is high quality and looks very good, I bet that wasn't cheap was it? Looks to be at least 4k textures on that, maybe even 8k? who knows.. it does look super detailed.
Things that could be improved...
Specifically..
Needs full controller support pref. - I don't mind KBM but I have a ♥♥♥♥♥♥ wrist so it does get uncomfortable at times.
Needs a better tutorial to explain the games mechanics, it's just a bit too short at the minute, but it does just get to the point. But could be better to cover more things. - Such as what are the currencies and which ones are they? I had to figure this out myself and it was a tad annoying.
Navigation is a bit janky and it isn't always clear when and what you're clicking. - I exited to the main menu a few times because I couldn't tell what I was clicking. - This would massively benefit from a bright white outline around the button you're trying to press for instance.
When you upgrade your ship after a level, sometimes you can't click an upgrade and add it to your ship, this needs to be explained far better - What upgrades are able to be added? What upgrades are not able to be added? The ones that aren't should either be greyed out or not even there. - I spent ages wondering why I couldn't add an upgrade to my ship on a couple of occasions.
Several elements in the UI need to be resized or moved to a better location, The UI needs de-cluttering to make things easier to read. - Some things either overlap or just sit on top of each other.
The warp drive doesn't feel good to use at all, - This could use a re-work or just removed entirely. in favour of say, a boost that gradually increases your speed, instead of being instant.
Those are the things that stood out to me during my limited playtime and if they are fixed or streamlined better then this game will be even better than it is currently.\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t
