I do this sort of work for a living so there's bias there but it says something that I can play a game thats very similar to my actual work and still find it enjoyable. If you like to tinker this will scratch the itch. Most of the items you fix share very similar if not identical layouts to their homage they are paid to. The Xbox is very much the same as cracking open a real OG Xbox. So for those that have IRL experience with these devices its fun in that regard.
I did find some things a little lackluster. Namely, I felt that shop customization was pretty limited. Definitely wish there was more there to make the shop your own. Secondly, some of the upgrades to me either come too soon or arrive too late. The air spray is great until you unlock the max tier brush very quickly after mostly rendering it useless. The shredder is nice but again, to me it feels like it comes too late to be of real value unless its one of the upgrades you spring for early.
Auto cleaners also fall into this category. Either you get a device where it takes you long enough to take apart,clean and repair where the time spent waiting for the auto cleaner to do its thing is useful or you are proficient enough to just do it manually faster rather than however fast the auto cleaner is. There were several times I miscalculated and ended up sitting on my hands for the cleaner to finish.
Bills also fall into a weird category where they exist but also feel like they dont. I get its tagged as a cozy game but its really a mechanic that fades into the background. You are never pressed for time or money, I feel like this could have been leveraged more and to greater effect.
Overall despite the minor gripes, the game is definitely worth it whether you pick it up on launch discount or full price. I have extracted more fun out of this than I reasonably expected and I think you might too.\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t

The only hang-ups occur with how cleaning items only require 90% completion before PING ALL DONE. It grabs my satisfaction and slaps it. 90% satisfied from cleaning and 10% slapped.
The other hiccup is that time has no pause when I'm creating my masterpiece artworks... it forces my hand to purely add quick, ugly little sad-faces as my da vinci.
If there could be an optional toggle for required 100% dirt cleaning and a PAUSE when using the airbrush, it would create a truly CHILL electronics repair... shop. *confetti*\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t

1. Upper left: In "Game Center", "Game" is written twice. Vertically as "ゲーム" then horizontally as "ゲム". Even if a human artist didn't understand Japanese, why did they write it horizontally AND vertically, AND THEN misspell only one of them?
2. The big red restaurant center frame: Should say 花そば, but only one of the two dots (") is there. Highly unlikely an artist would see there should be two dots, and only do one. A single dot doesn't exist in Japanese.
3. This is the most blatant. "Ramen Izakaya" on the right should use ラ for "Ra", but instead they used "フ". Normally I'd say this could be a non-native mistake, HOWEVER the character is PERFECTLY sized, and you can see the artist left space for the stroke they didn't write. How would a human know to make space for a line they're forgetting? If they wrote the wrong character, it would be the same height as the others.
4. Theres more, if you check the character like the カ on the yellow karaoke sign on the left, you can see it has a random, half-shaded part. The other text doesn't do this, but AI text does this all the time.

At the moment, it feels like the character already knows what the problem is before you even open something up. For example, if you take out a light bulb, the character immediately throws it in the bin, whereas I’d like to be able to test whether it still works before deciding it’s faulty. The visuals are also very nicely done, immersive and cute. This is one of the best "job simulator" and "slice of life" games!
However, I'll have to give a negative on principle. The developers apparently refuse to acknowledge the blatant use of generative AI in their game, evidenced by the lack of AI disclosure on the Steam page. The main splash art (the "street scene" main menu background, also shows up behind the customers in game) is blatantly AI-generated. This is especially obvious if you can read Japanese (or Chinese) characters.

Now with the full game out, I am definitely not disappointed. Lots of different electronics to work on and a variety of ways to decorate them/your shop. There are also different stories to get to go through so it gives you something to look forward to; Finding out what happens next lol.

I only found this out a bit too late to get a refund for this game which I was suspicious at first, but gave the benefit of the doubt considering I understand everyone has a different art style (shame on me for not going with my gut instincts).
After you all denied that AI was used, it was later stated that outsourced assets were indeed created with the use of genAI. If you can't care enough to put time and energy into something you're creating, then don't bother at all. Plain and simple. Just downright laziness. HIRE actual artists/writers.

You guys already admitted one of your artists you hired used AI, it went by you all and it went live, it was also noted in the demo that you guys took down when it was brought up. The thread you linked doesn't mean anything given you guys keep contradicting yourselves into a hole instead of owning up to your mistake(s). Learn to take criticism, learn from your mistakes and do better! Taking devices apart is done really well, and the I Am Future references are pretty funny, especially when you have to dismantle a device straight from that game.

Not a huge fan of the challenges where you simply have to assemble something in the correct order. They’re a bit boring and don’t always feel logical, in my opinion.

Play as the new master of a cozy electronics repair shop, fixing phones, cameras, controllers, handheld game systems, consoles, and more. This is all while juggling dealing with the local police, a band of thieves operating out of a maid cafe, a yakuza gang, competition from other electronics shops, foreign tourists, neighbours needing help with their electronics, and a plot to demolish a block of shops - including yours - to build a massive mall.
Gameplay begins with you opening your shop in the morning, usually being visited by someone stopping by the shop with a request, the mail courier dropping off mail / packages, and checking your e-mail for order requests. Orders can be accepted via your e-mail, showing the product type needing cleaned, repaired, painted, or some combination of them all, along with the amount of yen you will receive for your work. Occasionally someone will physically stop by the shop with a device for you to fix, moving the story portion of the game along upon its completion. Cleaning and repair both take place by disassembling the device in question, taking each component apart in a specific order, brushing away any dirt or dust, replacing any damaged parts, resoldering areas around chips, then reassembling the item before doing any painting / sticker placement / reprogramming. Replacement parts can be found by either purchasing and disassembling devices to add to your parts box, buying boxes of random parts, or purchasing specific components online. Any completed orders can be shipped out to their owners, payment being dropped off by the courier upon pickup.
Money rolls in at a pretty good pace, especially once you get better tools in your shop to make your work go faster and smoother. Different tools, devices, furniture, paint schemes, operating licenses, and decorative items can be bought online to upgrade your shop and expand the type of devices you are legally allowed to work on. Bigger brushes will make cleaning go faster, same with a motorized screwdriver to make removing screws instant. There are devices you can buy, mainly a shredder and a bath for parts, with the former giving you money for shredding parts and the latter cleaning X number of parts depending on the version of the device you own; I never used the parts cleaner since you have to dump in parts one by one instead of just dropping the device in. Buying a spray paint gun open up the ability to change the colour of devices, nabbing you more money as people request different paint jobs. Decorative items can be bought online too to give your shop a bit more charm; replacing existing shelves, putting up new ones, buying lights, paint, and random items like Godzilla figures, stormtrooper helmets, The Sims green diamonds, and more for display.
Locals dropping by your shop are the main way of moving the story component of the game forward, your decisions leading to either saving the shop district or turning it into a corporate owned shopping centre.
Visually, the game is quite charming, capturing the feeling of a cozy, quaint electronics repair shop from the mid 2000s. Items are designed to be legally distinct from their real life counterparts, being easily recognized though. Locals have a touch of a cartoonish anime style to them, following stereotypes quite closely based on their individual professions or how one might think of an American tourist in Japan.
I had such a good time with ReStory: Chill Electronics Repair, not even minding that I was cleaning / repairing the same devices over and over again. Genuinely, if it wasn't for the fact that I need to sleep at night, I would have sat and finished it in a single sitting. I can't recommend ReStory enough to anyone who might be interested in it - I hope we get a sequel of some kind in the future.
