I've been long disappointed with ArcSys' recent lineup, and they finally seem to have broken good ground with a game that has creativity, accessibility and complexity, without feeling overly restrictive or linear. There are some issues worth ironing out, but they've been quick to address them from the betas to now. This is the most excited I've been for a new fighting game in many years (and didn't end up burned by the purchase).

That, and the invasive anticheat is obviously a measure against the competition of the Steam Deck/Machine as well as the potential XBOX competitor to those and the Switch. They sincerely don't care. It's a total win that this PC port is a wreck, more to the pile for their vendor lock-in.\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t

It's a 4 person tag fighter with a roster of about 20 characters. There needed to be at least twice the amount of characters in the game at launch. UMVC3 had 50 and was only a 3 character tag fighter. Rolling out 4 characters a year is inexcusable. Save your money, pick this game up in a couple years when it's on sale and is in a more complete state. Also, if you do buy it, make sure to change Dooms voice to Japanese.\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t

This game has maybe some of the worst core gameplay mechanics ever implemented in a fighting game. You might think this is a skill issue, but you will find that the problem gets worse as you get better, not the other way around. Even in vibranium+ the games are boring and un-interactive. Each round ends in two interactions, with the second interaction coming in the form of a series of between 1 and 5 high low 50/50s. If you survive these, you reward is to enjoy some of the worst assist vomit neutral I have ever seen.
I your playing competent opponents, there are no on block defensive options, and you will have to guess for the round each time you block a normal. If your opponent isn't able to cycle their assists in a way that allows them to do this, they will be unable to open you up if you can fuzzy block decently and are willing to sit there for 20-30 seconds, because the only other relevant offensive sequence available is canned high low offense.
In neutral, there is very little reason to do anything except jump + block + call assist. Air throws lead to minimal reward, and are often punishable even if they succeed by assists.

Then a NEW problem comes up where this games KERNEL-LEVEL ANTI CHEAT refuses to let me launch it without renaming and an old file and restarting my PC EVERY TIME I boot it up. These issues alone kept me from wanting to play anymore. I had the patience to stand forcing Sony logins, and questionable rollback, but now i cant even launch the game without having to jump through another hoop. Sad :(\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t

Finding a match would take 15-20 minutes, even with 30k+ players in game per the Steam stats on the launch weekend. In a genre of games where you only need 2 players in match, that long of a wait time is unnacceptable. Sadly, the player base on Steam has dwindled to the hundreds. What a shame.\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t
