\n\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\tI was SO excited for this game. But alas, on launch day my disappointment was immeasurable and my day was ruined. Why, you may ask, is that so? Well, the TLDR is that the game is 10x buggier and clunkier than it was in the demo. But if you must know the details, here you go:
- BUGS AND PERFORMANCE! Put simply, the game is a mess. About 6 months ago for the demo the game ran nearly perfectly with zero issues. Now, even on the lowest settings it regularly freezes and crashes. Furthermore, there are endless bugs. Troops will sometimes not draw supplies, or will continue to execute old orders for no clear reason. When you load a save, or combine divisions, it will delete your next phases of battleplans. If you drag units from one zone to another it will mess up the chain of command. The fact they released this game in this state is astonishing.
- TIME CONTROL! THIS, above any other gameplay feature, needs to be changed IMMEDIATELY. Time automatically starts at max speed when you load a save. If you make a new battle plan, the game immediately unpauses and reverts to your last speed, even if you made a slight error and need to redo it, needlessly wasting time and potentially thousands of lives. The game doesn't automatically freeze time when you go into menus, it also doesn't freeze time when it shows vital pop ups that block a lot of the screen. This is such a simple thing to get right that was COMPLETELY changed from the demo for no reason. I'm flabbergasted by this.
- UI! This was an issue even in the demo. The organization chart in particular would be fine if you only had to organize one division with 20 units, but by the second mission you already have 9 DIVISIONS, thats 180 units you have to manually upgrade and organize. Its also buggy, so changes may revert, or things can glitch and create messed up chains of command, which is EXTREMELY annoying to fix because you have to look through hundreds of tiny units with nearly invisible connections on the org chart. Overall, the UI is just clunky to the point where I'm often not sure if something is a bug or just an awful design decision.
- COMMAND! This is the least changed aspect from the demo, but the changes they did make are for the worse. They added a zone system that is on by default, requiring you to manually split units off into different formations to perform even the most mundane tasks like scouting, or sitting in reserve in EVERY. SINGLE. PHASE. It also added a bunch of bugs as mentioned above. These changes have made commanding large formations frustrating and difficult for absolutely no tangible improvements. You can still switch back to the old timeline system from the demo (As indicated by dev below), but this system absolutely should not be the default.
Overall, I'm beyond disappointed with this launch. It's like 50% of the game that I loved in the demo was removed and replaced with an unstable mess. I will not recommend this game until they fix these issues.\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t

This is an excellent game. It's not perfect, but it does a most things right.
Pros: Big battles, detailed map. Drawing on map is fun. The scale and gameplay is good: I prefer the once-a-day planning. I set the plan, then watch it play out (sometimes disastrously). Watching your troops move forward, engage, push the frontlines, surround and encircle is hypnotising. The photos are a big a plus. Music is good. Sound is good.
Cons: Mostly technical. Framerate tanks in larger missions. Troop management page gets laggy when too many units. Loading saves a bit buggy. No mod support. Aircraft are a bit weak.
Hopefully patches will fix the above issues.\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t

However, I do need to withdraw my previous review because I have noticed some major bugs/problems that are reported during the beta test but not properly fixed even after it is formally released, which have raised significant attention that I, as a beta-tester, cannot ignore and could potentially end up changing my attitude towards this game.
I will wait and see if the developers can do their job to fix all the flaws and bugs we players have submitted so far in the official Discord.\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t

I'm going to blame this on the devs getting feedback complaining about the original systems from people who didn't get it. Because the new zones system and readiness orders are really bad. While you can thankfully turn the stupid things off (top few options in gameplay settings), both tutorials seem locked into these new options. And from minute 1 of the second tutorial you can really feel the problems.
For those who skipped them or haven't played, the tutorials show small video clips demonstrating some of what they want you to do. In this instance, deploy your single division as close to the enemy line as possible. The video does this by drawing a balanced hold order close to the enemy line. Upon doing almost exactly the same thing, about half of my units moved into that order, and the other half just stayed sitting where they spawned, outside the area of the order, not doing anything.
I don't really know where this game is going to take further development and bug fixing, but I would really implore the devs to focus more on the original systems than these new designs that kill what actually made this such a compelling game in its first showing. Bought the game anyway to support and to see if anything had changed from the demo...refunded it, as I once again didn't like it. It's just too Fast and Furious for my wargame tastes. I'm an older gamer, who likes his game turns, hexes, counters, painful supply and morale rules and chain of command. Seems very polished, just not for me.
Too much info, too many animated shovels digging, too many company commanders giving me their 2 cents, too many notifications that I couldn't do anything about, too many UI windows....just a lot going on in real-time.

- Orders: The new system of delegating orders to regimental areas was unneeded and less fun and intuitive than the sequential order system in the beta, likewise having to babysit your divisions as they execute orders so you can tell when to activate the next just makes the game so much less satisfying, why can I not make it automatically go to the next order upon completion of its first plan? Who asked for them to change the basic design of the order system into a fundamentally worse one?

I have been playing all kind of strategy and tactical games for quite a few years now, but to get into this one seems a near impossibility. I accept that maybe it is just me but currently even the tutorials are very difficult to really master. What do I mean by this ? For me the tutorials do not really tell me how to do things. It points towards actions that need to be done but in a way fails then to really explain how you actually do it. So I am clicking around hoping that what I am doing is somehow working. I got through the first tutorial but to be honest without really understanding what I was doing or what I can do and if what I "did" was what the tutorial had in mind. I just stopped the second tutorial as it was talking about performing actions that I did not know how to perform. Again I am happy to accept that maybe it is me, but if it is not just my stupidity then something is wrong with the tutorials or the UI or how accessible the game really is. Currently it does not invite me to play it, it defies me. It probably is a great game once you know how to play it but to get to that point one probably needs to follow quite a few 'you tube' sessions figuring out how it works. I would assume that many of the more casual players will give up which would be a pity. I will go back to it after a few you tube sessions and hopefully figure things out and then change my review. But sorry, currently I find it difficult to recommend this game at least for the casual player. Unfortunately when I tried again in order to advance the second tutorial wants me to press a retreat button that does not exist; ie it does not show in the window it should.... I have no indication why it does not show and that is where the problem lies, either because the tutorial is not for the version that is live or there is a "setting" or a combination of actions that could bring about that this button is not shown but one has no way of understanding what went wrong. \n\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\tI was going to hold off a bit longer, but I just cannot recommend this game. I do like it and others probably will too but it's just so jank and buggy. The tutorials tell you units cannot attack at night, which is just ???, sometimes they do, sometimes they don't? I am sure there is some logic to it but the tutorial just tells you something wrong. Issuing orders is all done through drawing lines/shapes but it is not always apparent what direction the order is going to be, lacks basic options to edit or change the orders without completely redoing them. The game is played through a mission-based campaign that lacks any logic. If you lose a mission, rather than reverting to before the mission, the campaign layer acts as if you are not playing a linear campaign and continues just you have to play the mission again - you take casualties to your units, your leaders level up. It's like at some point they switched from being an open ended campaign to a linear one and forgot to change the campaign logic. When you go into a mission you also have a capacity for R&R which is supposed to be how you heal your damaged units, or the campaign says you can spend requisition points (which are what are used to buy units) to heal them. As far as I can tell there is no way to spend requisition to heal units, but there is a "beg for reinforcements" button that presumably is leftover from this wider campaign vision in the cut down version we have which gives you some requisition points and max heals all your units for no penalty (and even post patch, you can still endlessly click this button for infinite resources).

Can't even get the first tutorial mission done, because simply nothing happens after capturing the last city. With the second attempt to get the mission done, the time just stopped with no reason and the game crashed. Even with my progressive gaming setup there are many laggs, especially when changing the form of orders.

On my desktop it just gobbles up memory until there's nothing left and the operating system closes the program. My laptop is better but I suspect it has a similar issue as it doesn't crash on the same schedule but crashes very regularly when multiple things are happening at the same time. (maybe its a difference between Nobara and CachyOS)
Anyway the dev has said they've identified a memory leak and will patch it tomorrow (technically today) and I'll change my review to positive when they do, but as it stands its too crash prone to be playable or for me to reccomend to anyone who didn't fall in love with the demo like I did.\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t

This launch is a mess. Just finished the tutorial and I am preparing for the first real mission. I can not see my commanders/regiments in the army assembler, because the UI does not let me scroll further up and down even though it was fine before. I can literally!! not select my units to assemble or delete them. My regiments are just off screen and there is nothing I can do. And this is just the beginning of the game completely breaking key features. I love the idea of the game and will change my review as soon as they fix this. But 30 EUR for this mess? Where was the QA testing?\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t

\n\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\tGames buggy went to replay one of the starting missions and several units started getting stuck right clicking them to direct move would save some the others wouldnt react. Seize ground orders resulted in my units digging in and laying minefields. A breakthrough order started and gave up halfway the tanks in the order spent 2 in game days sleeping halfway to the point. AI for your units seems to have some game breaking hang ups.\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t
