\n\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\tin the 18 hours I've played so far, time has flown by me, other games would have me dragging myself just to finish them at this point, but this game is so engaging, so fun, I can't even tell if I'm in the end game; I just can't wait to keep going. This is more than I could have ever dreamed from a sequel to Control; the story is amazing, so many questions answered, yet so many more have emerged. I love. Every. Single. Character, they're just so full of life; seeing old friends from Control and how they are now was just, so nice, even random npcs in the streets make you want to listen to their lines; they can be pretty funny too. Speaking of, this games humour is peak Remedy, always on point, but the serious parts still bring tears to my eyes from the intensity of the music alone; ohhhh the music, it's simply perfect, plus the songs from Zoe's mixtape are incredible, instant additions to my playlist the moment I hear them. Oh and the visuals; absolutely stunning, the graphics alone are beautiful, but when the paranatural weirdness kicks in, it's genuinely one of the prettiest games I have ever played, I catch myself just staring at the environment, just taking it all in. The combat is very fun, once you get into the flow, you're unstoppable, and you can feel that; chaining together abilities, status effects and attacks is so fun. The bosses can be tricky. Not impossible; they're very fun to fight. The movement is incredibly fluid and fun to run around with jumping from building to building; Paranatural distortion to paranatural distortion. The game ran flawlessly, no tweaks needed at all.

\n\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\tRemedy, you absolute madmen you have done it again. This is literally how you take a game that's already good and make it 100x better. Literally every single aspect of the game has been improved from the first one. This game knows what it's trying to be and completely nails it. Everything is top-notch. The soundtrack is orgasmic, the visuals are breathtaking (and will make you dizzy in the best way), and my god, the art team went nuts with this!
The Combat:
It's a massive departure from the first game, replacing the Service Weapon and telekinesis with Dylan's hyper-aggressive melee system. The most prominent thing about this combat is that offense is your best defense. The game rewards you for being heavily aggressive, which makes it so much fun. It's not completely grounded, you still get weird paranatural abilities, but they are woven directly into the melee flow rather than replacing it completely like in the first game. And my god is it satisfying; all the abilities and weapons are in perfect harmony with each other.
The game doesn't overwhelm you with abilities from the start but gives you just enough to keep the combat flowy and never boring. Whenever the combat starts feeling even a little bit repetitive, they throw a new Resonant Entity at you (mechanically this game's version of Objects of Power), which gives you entirely new ways to approach a fight. The build variety is also pretty good. You can mix and match weapons and abilities once you get deeper into the game. You can go for a full summons build and make them fight for you, or go for a full raw damage build, and both have their own sub-builds. None of them get boring. Whatever type of build you choose, you are gonna have a good time.
The Lore:
I know everyone says Remedy games have confusing lore, but both Control and Control Resonant try their best to help you understand the story. For me personally, it was easy to follow along. You just need to pay a little bit more attention than you normally would for other story games. Just try to read as many notes as you can they more often than not contain important lore.

In my opinion, this is a really good thing because it's much more fun finding your own way. The first game was limited to a single building, but this time you have a big map of Manhattan to cover. The map shows just how much effort went into this. Every area is designed with purpose, not just random assets slapped everywhere to look cool. You are rewarded fairly for exploring and can find some pretty cool stuff along the way.
Art Direction:
The art direction is honestly what I like about this game the most. The whole twisted and patterned Manhattan feels perplexing but incredibly fun once you get the hang of it. The map is not a present day 1:1 recreation of Manhattan, but what they call "Strange York" a slightly retro, cinematic version of the city where relics like phone booths still exist on the street. The reason I really like this grounded, mundane reality is because it creates a massive visual contrast when "The Patterning" (an AWE event) starts ripping the city apart. Seeing normal city streets get torn up by weird shapes makes the crazy stuff stand out a lot more. In the first game, the Oldest House was already so strange that nothing really surprised you.

I was expecting something unique, something mind-bending, especially knowing how Remedy makes its games. And considering this is the sequel to Control, I already knew I was in for something interesting. But man... I was completely blown away. The game exceeded my expectations in ways I honestly wasn't prepared for.
After 30+ hours, I’m still deep inside the Control world, trying to find my way out, and somehow the game keeps throwing something new at me. There’s always another mystery, another reveal, another moment that makes you stop and think, “What the hell is going on?” and I absolutely love it.
The story is top-tier. Remedy didn’t change what makes Control special; they took everything that worked and expanded on it in the best possible way. Two siblings caught in the middle of a conflict involving powerful entities from other dimensions, forces capable of wiping out entire realities, and watching them fight their way through it all while trying to find their own path... it’s simply magnificent.
The characters are incredibly well written too. I genuinely felt connected to each and every one of them. Their relationships, struggles, fears, and motivations all feel meaningful, and the emotional side of the story hits much harder than I expected.
And the gameplay? Amazing, as always. It still feels like Control, but there’s enough new stuff to keep the experience fresh throughout. Exploring, fighting, discovering secrets, and slowly piecing together what’s actually happening never gets boring.
What really surprised me, though, was how much this game is about family. It captures so many emotions surrounding family, love, sacrifice, and especially the bond between siblings. That emotional core makes the entire supernatural story feel even more impactful.
I’ve seen a lot of comments criticizing Dylan for being scared or emotional, calling him a crybaby. But honestly, considering everything he has suffered through, his reactions make complete sense to me. And calling him weak completely misses the point. Dylan is one of the most powerful characters in the entire game. Being afraid or vulnerable doesn’t make someone weak.
I’ve also seen comments complaining that the game portrays women as more powerful than men. I genuinely don’t understand that criticism. Why is it a problem to have powerful female characters? Wouldn’t anyone want their mother or sister to be strong and powerful? Strength isn't something that needs to belong to one gender.
For me, Control Resonant is a masterclass.

The game features the complex, signature narrative style found in the Alan Wake and Control series. While newcomers might find it challenging to grasp the established world and lore, the game mitigates this with recaps of the prequel's story and encourages players to read the "Notes" scattered throughout the game world.
Particularly appreciate the shift in gameplay from the third-person shooter (TPS) mechanics of the original to a melee-focused RPG style. Dylan (the protagonist of Control: Resonant) does not wield the Service Weapon used by Jesse (the protagonist of the Control prequel) instead, he uses a paranormal melee weapon called "Aberrant." The art direction is great. Open world Manhattan is a bit whatever, but when the game gets weird, it's peak weird. This game really makes you want to come back and enjoy the combat, even after finishing the story.
+ the game is beautiful in terms of world, levels and enemies.
+ the combat is fluid, fun and the best mixed with your powers - 1st had shooting, this is all melee.
+ Dylan, just love him and his personality.
+ Supporting Characters are made perfectly - Zoe, Pope, Arish, Langston and others
+ the Unknown & the subway jesse level were the best level design, yes i fell down the abyss many times but best levels created.
+ Zoe and her playlist - just hits you perfect, hope they add option to play the music any time.
+ Fra / Fred is the best guy in all the worlds.
+ They let you pet the dog (as much as you like) and you can have her in the Gap.
- certain parts like stop the FBC experiments feels repetitive and similar
minor issues nothing to impact the game or its review so far
- the ranger escort missions had issues but was fixed in the latest hotfix 1.4.2
- Lack of Photo-mode, will be release in november though
- A improvement - the childhood gameplay section need checkpoint saves after fights and reaching certain section if possible, thats my opinion

\n\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\tI played Hell is Us last year and one thing I really loved about that game was the atmosphere and the feeling of exploring a world that just felt strange and mysterious. Control Resonant gave me that exact same feeling.
The world building here is fk incredible. Everything feels atmospheric, mysterious and constantly changing. The influence from games like The Backrooms is definitely there, especially with the strange environments and the feeling that you never really know what the hell is going on. And when the sound design kicks in, I was literally like WHOA. The voice acting and sound design are insanely good and they add so much to the atmosphere.
The combat is also extremely satisfying. I have only played around five hours so far, but I have already unlocked quite a few skills and the more abilities I get, the better the combat feels. The boss fights have been great too. I have defeated two or three bosses already and genuinely enjoyed every one of them.
The main villains can feel a little repetitive sometimes, but honestly, the world itself makes up for it. The way the environment shifts, changes and turns everything upside down is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ incredible. You can walk into an area thinking you understand it and then suddenly everything changes.
Five hours in and I can already say that they did a damn good job with this game. The atmosphere, world building, sound design and combat are all hitting exactly what I want from a game like this.
