\n\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\tFrom the start of the game, i really enjoyed this game. Gathering resources, exploring the unknown planet, finding secrets and lores, and building up base. Looks like it was gonna be cozy experience, and it is, especially on the starting planet. But then came the story, where everything that looks like a fun and enjoyable experience, turns into a thrilling, challenging, and brutal adventure. I eventually had a long review written for this game, In short, what was so exciting at first became a mixed bag, with the good part of the game is more dominant than the bad one. This game has 5 planets and 2 planets has its own moon, which partly planet, partly moon we can visit. And this game also has a lot of craftings we can unlock by collecting bytes, which is like XP. But, once the main story figured out, the big chunks of each planets became useless, and only small parts of the crafting is became essential for the story line. The good thing i can take from this tho, when i visit each planet for the first time, there was a huge excitement on exploring it, because it offers different things, atmospheres, and resources. And after beating the game, i'm actually excited to build bases in each of the planet. But one thing that probably annoyed me the most, is the alert it makes when i'm putting stuff in my backpack and its full. i'd rather have it silent. And another thing is, because this game has unlimited freedom to deform and reform the planet, every surface and path become harder to explore, because the planet is shaped so randomly, and there was rarely flat surfaces. If you fall into the hole, then thats almost likely a goodbye. The survival element this game has is only oxygen and fall damage, with some are hazardous plants.
The good part of this game is, this game can be an addicting and chill experience. Maybe it's better if using a controller or once you get used to it, but yeah... even the camera controls are weirdly floaty and zoomed out when using mouse.

\n\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\tWhile Astroneer itself is beautiful, and the amount of exploring, building, crafting, and creativity the game offers is genuinely great, actually trying to functionally do those things with keyboard and mouse is overwhelmingly negative.
For those of us who don't play on console and don't use controllers, the PC controls feel incredibly clunky and unintuitive. Basic movement, camera control, interacting with objects, managing your inventory, using the terrain tool, and placing things often feels like you're fighting the controls instead of enjoying the game.
That's what makes it so frustrating. I can see the great game underneath it. I WANT to play it. The world is beautiful, the concept is fantastic, and what you're able to accomplish looks incredibly fun, but getting your character to comfortably move around and actually interact with that world shouldn't be the hardest part of the game.
If you're going to offer a game on PC, keyboard and mouse need to be treated as a primary control method, not something that feels like it was adapted around a controller.
I shouldn't have to buy or use a controller just to comfortably play a PC game.

The limits of this game are practically non-existent, Once me and my friend dug up an entire mountain worth of soil canisters, built a stairway to literal space, then when we got to the top (after using ALL our soil) we jumped and slid all the way back down, to a massive ramp, and we got launched so far we circled the entire planet like 3 times.
