The main chain gimmick isn't explored well enough through with the magic system, the platforming is needlessly excessive but also way too easy, and the combat just doesn't grow in any meaningful way. It really felt like a chore to play after the first 90 minutes or so, and by 3 hours my co-op partner tapped out. I would love to think that the game has an unexpectedly amazing finale but I doubt it.

The chain mechanic is a great concept, but it's explored very poorly. The chain is mostly useless during fights, and spending points to increase its length basically feels like a waste. The way it suddenly pulls you back when you roll and reach the end of the chain is also incredibly annoying for no real reason.
I expected much more from the chain mechanic. For example, there could have been spells or skills that interact with your teammates through the chain: healing each other, sharing damage, or even a spell that links everyone's HP together and gives the group a small overall HP boost, but removes the ability to revive each other if someone dies. There are so many interesting things they could have done with this concept, but the game barely takes advantage of it.
The magic system is also extremely limited. There are no actual long-range spells at all. Instead, magic basically consists of applying an elemental effect to your chain and then encircling enemies with it to make them burn, freeze, etc. While that's an interesting idea in theory, it makes playing a mage feel incredibly restrictive, especially when fighting normal enemies.
Some of the abilities, like the tornado spell, are actually incredibly cool and make you think the magic system is going to become much more interesting , but then it doesn't. The problem is that in actual combat they're practically useless because it's simply way more efficient to use a sword to kill the enemies. That's probably the biggest issue with magic in general: the abilities can look and sound great, but there is very little reason to actually use them when basic melee combat is easier, faster, and more effective.
Speaking of weapons, there are very few weapon types, and most of them basically do the same thing. There are almost no interesting special effects or meaningful variations. Even the weapon skins are mostly identical with different colors, and there are only around five colors. You constantly find "better" weapons that look almost exactly the same as the ones you already had.
There is no armor system either, and there is no way to upgrade your weapons yourself or to get drops from enemies. You mostly just find weapons randomly in chests. Because of that, there is very little incentive to actually fight enemies or farm anything. Most of the time, you're better off simply running past them because there is no real reason to fight.
By far the worst part, though, is the level design. You basically spend the game running up ramps or waiting for horribly slow elevators. There are barely any interesting jumps, obstacles, or mechanics that make use of the chain. After previously playing Chained Together, I expected much more creative level design from a game built around a similar concept.
Then there are the cutscenes. The dragon cutscene, for example, could have looked really cool if you could actually see anything other than the dragons ass.
The final "boss" fight is also laughably easy to the point that I thought it was a troll, like surely that can't be it, and then the game just... ends.
Performance is another major issue. I experienced completely random FPS drops, sometimes going all the way down to around 8 FPS which is bad for obvious reasons.

The solo experience so far has been enjoyable. The mechanic of being chained by a ball and needing to manually readjust adds some interesting mechanical depth, requiring a level of strategy and planning that is different to that of the coop experience. If you need a reference point, it's like someone took the idea of Astral Chain, but your chained partner is the eggs you carry in Monster Hunter.
Although I cannot comment on the current state of the coop experience, I will say that the experience I had in the demo was enjoyable. I initially went in expecting the game's bosses to be a cakewalk being as you had a coop partner. However, I was surprised to find out that the combat encounters required working very closely with your partner in order to succeed. There was genuine satisfaction from me and my partner going into initial fights chaotic and clueless, and by the end learning to communicate, position ourselves correctly and become more in-sync with how we needed to react to the enemy encounters and boss movesets.
Comparing the current game to the demo released earlier this year, I would say that there is a definite improvement to the gameplay, polish, performance and visuals. Combat feels a lot more fluid and meatier. Whilst parrying, enemy reactions and the chain all feel more consistent.
Overall, the game is enjoyable. Is it going to be the next competitor to the likes of Fromsoft or even Cold Symmetry? No, but then again I don't believe the game was ever intending to do so. This is largely a coop action game, with the addition of some physics based combat (Tripping enemies with the chain, for example), puzzling and platforming, it is not a dark souls clone, even if the aesthetic suggests so. For a solo developed game, especially tackling a 3D game with physics interactions and action combat (Mechanics and genres that are difficult to implement well), I cannot fault it. It is well priced and executes exactly what the game tells you it is going for.

I’ve only played solo currently, and once I got the hang of how to have the ball be my combat partner and not just another enemy, I had a great time. Tying up, tripping and launching enemies off the edge seemed like a pretty solid approach and works well as the game can be pretty tricky. I haven’t tried all the magic options but the tornado seems pretty OP if you can group enemies together near an edge😂 it’s a great concept and I’m going to keep playing to see how far I can get and what the other bosses are like!\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t

We were expecting this game to be bad, but in a good way where it uses it as its funny charm. but its just so janky, buggy and the hits dont make sense, neither does the stamina bar. We tried to play it past the first boss but after that moved on.
