Stellar Blade is a fantastic game—and if you loved NieR: Automata, you’re going to feel right at home here.
The influence is obvious in the best way. The game captures that same rhythmic hack-and-slash combat loop, where fights feel almost musical once you get into the flow. But it doesn’t just copy—it blends multiple inspirations really well:
- NieR: Automata → story, themes, music, overall feel
- Sekiro → emphasis on perfect parries
- Dark Souls → exploration, camps, and dodge-focused combat
- Resident Evil → occasional shooting segments
- Even Nikke-style mini-games if you grab the DLC
That variety is a huge strength. A lot of games in this genre get stale—but Stellar Blade constantly mixes things up, so it never really drags.
Visually, it’s stunning. One of the best-looking games I’ve played recently. And surprisingly, it runs extremely well on PC. The port is very well done, and if you tweak things further (like Unreal Engine tweaks), performance gets even better.
The soundtrack is also incredible—on par with NieR: Automata, which is high praise. Not surprising, since some of the same talent worked on it.
I’ll admit, going in, I thought the game might rely too heavily on Eve’s design and style—but that wasn’t the case. The story actually develops into something much more interesting and thought-provoking in the later parts of the game.
Also, I’ve seen people say the characters are “flat” or don’t develop—I don’t agree with that at all. A lot of that criticism seems to come from not engaging with the side content. If you actually play through the side quests (like Su and Enya), there’s clear character development and added depth that you’d otherwise miss.
Overall, it’s just a really fun, polished experience that respects your time and keeps you engaged.

The graphics are good, the game runs great, character designs are very good, combat is super fun, the soundtrack is excellent, and there is a decent amount of side content but not enough to be overwhelming. Start the game on normal then switch to hard for a ng+ playthrough, playing your first playthrough on hard will turn the enemies into damage sponges.
The story is decent, but nothing more. Some of the English voice acting is not very good. There could also be more environment and enemy variety. Even with those flaws, it's a 9/10 for me.\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t

After 100 hours and getting all achievements for Stellar Blade, i can confidently say this game is so SO GOOD. I think this might be my favorite single player game experience i've ever had. It isn't perfect, but it does come close to perfection in my opinion.
From the first minute of testing controls i remember i was already completely sold. The combo variety you can pull off just from messing around with the light/heavy attacks is already awesome. But then you realize there's an entire skill tree to add to that. Parries, dodges, counters, executions, animation cancels, i mean the list goes on.. different gear combinations, different grenades to throw in the mix, why not? ...A gun with different ammo types. I swear i've never seen a combat system as hype as this one, it's endless fun. The amount of content is huge. Hundreds of hidden collectibles, cosmetics, and a ton of upgrades too.
Now, i do think this might not be for everyone. If you skip every cutscene and ignore every side quest this game has to offer, you might come out of it thinking ''that was it?'' The main story line by itself isn't that long. It's totally possible to blitz through the entire thing within a day, which i strongly do not recommend. This game rewards those who enjoy being thorough. If you like exploring every nook and cranny and you have somewhat of a completionist mindset, you will for sure enjoy Stellar Blade. The story is deep and i feel like it needs some paying attention and/or multiple playthroughs to fully understand.
Another thing i really loved about this game is the photo mode, it really surprised me with how good it is. Like, let's say Stellar Blade only came with the photo mode, the world and the OST and that's it. I would still have left a positive review lol. The game just happens to come with a tool to make infinite amounts of art, absolutely fantastic.
The movement is a little clunky, EVE is a little hard to control. Especially in the water, which kindof sucks because there's a fair amount of flooded areas in the game. I can't tell you how many times i got stuck in an underground sewer type level just trying to fit my character through the flooded door. It can be a bit frustrating. But hey, atleast you can't drown lol. I also noticed this kind of clunkiness starts worsening towards the later stages of the game, i guess it has something to do with the level designs. The rope swinging is also complete ass imo. I much preferred the more open environments like the wasteland. So yeah, the parkour in this game is a little bad, just not enough to ruin the whole experience. Some of the puzzles are also kinda hit or miss, some of them either require actual mathematics knowledge, a youtube walkthrough, or they're very easy. That isn't necessarily a bad thing but be warned.

Boss battles are intense and rewarding. Eve looks stunning, the world is beautiful on PC, and performance is smooth. Plenty of outfits and upgrades to play with. Story and exploration are decent, though some side quests drag a bit. Still, the core gameplay loop is addictive enough to keep you hooked. If you enjoy Nier: Automata, Bayonetta, or Devil May Cry style action, this one delivers. Worth buying 100%

The combat system is the biggest highlight. It feels responsive, satisfying, and skill-based without becoming frustrating. Perfect dodges, parries, combos, and boss mechanics create fights that constantly stay engaging. The game clearly takes inspiration from titles like NieR: Automata and Sekiro, but still manages to build its own identity.
Visually, the game is outstanding. The environments, character animations, lighting, and overall art direction are consistently impressive. Performance was also very stable during my playthrough, which made the experience feel polished from start to finish.
The soundtrack deserves special praise as well. Many tracks elevate exploration and boss encounters in a way that gives the game a memorable atmosphere instead of feeling like generic background music.
The story is not perfect, and some side content could have been developed further. Certain dialogue moments are weaker than the gameplay itself. However, the core experience is so strong that these issues never seriously hurt the overall enjoyment.

The soundtrack deserves special praise as well. Many tracks elevate exploration and boss encounters in a way that gives the game a memorable atmosphere instead of feeling like generic background music.
The story is not perfect, and some side content could have been developed further. Certain dialogue moments are weaker than the gameplay itself. However, the core experience is so strong that these issues never seriously hurt the overall enjoyment.
What impressed me most is how focused the game feels. It knows exactly what it wants to be: a stylish, challenging, high-quality action game with excellent combat and presentation — and it delivers on that vision extremely well.

Eve is a great protagonist, and I loved all the collectibles, outfits, hairstyles, and accessories.
