I had never 100 percented a sprawling AAA game before this one. Only something truly exceptional could change that. I scoured every corner of its world out of pure enjoyment. Full completion... albeit several New Game Plus prestiges later... was never what I was intentionally pursuing or going out of my way to accomplish. I ended up with it merely by cause and effect, as a little cherry on top.

For ten years the same title has held the favorite game showcase on my Steam profile. Until now. The music, the story, the world, the combat, the visuals, the lore and the ending (the best one) slowly combined until Stellar Blade rose and claimed that place with a concluded performance befitting thunderous applause and a standing ovation.

I bought the base game at launch on PS5 and every DLC as it released. I then went out of my way to purchase the complete edition at full price a second time, on PC. I finished every objective on console, including New Game Plus. I repeated the entire game all over again with a fresh save, on hard, on PC.

Even after all of that, my heart returns to Xion. I am playing it again, NG+ round five, as we patiently await Blood Rain.

I have given you, reader, the full measure of what this game has meant to me and continues to mean. There is nothing further to add.

I recommend, you buy the game.

This game is a masterpiece. My time with it lives fondly in my memories.

\n\t\t\t\t\tI don't know if souls-like veterans would actually call this game a souls-like or not, but I feel like it's a mix of an action RPG and a souls-like. Yeah, even though I've never touched a souls game or anything similar before. But anyway, I wanna talk about Stellar Blade.

Story-wise, the game follows a woman named Eve who's tasked with taking back Earth from mysterious creatures called Naytibas. Along the way, she meets survivors and teams up with them while hunting down enemy boss cores to defeat the final boss and find a new energy source for the survivor city. The game has 3 endings in total, and one of them actually requires you to 100% the game.

The main story itself is actually pretty short if you don't really care about side quests or exploration. But honestly, I think the real selling point of this game is the exploration. I mean, running around the world just to find sexy outfits for Eve? Why not, right?

Talking about the world, I think it's pretty varied. There are some linear maps and others that give you total freedom to explore its post-apocalyptic themes. Even though it's post-apocalyptic, there are still plenty of photogenic spots. Oh, and don't forget about the massive amount of collectibles. There's even an achievement that forces you to collect 200 of them. With so many collectibles, I found myself intensely running back and forth. To 100% it, I literally had to look up a guide and check them off one by one to see what I missed. It's super safe and easy to backtrack though, because there are tons of camps or teleport points you can use to jump to specific spots.

Next, let's talk about the gameplay and combat. Like I said earlier, it mixes two different genres: Action RPG and souls combat mechanics.
You can feel the RPG elements through the skill tree, where you can level up your attack, defense, and skills like Beta and Burst. You also get RPG vibes from equipping Gear and Exoskeletons that give you special effects during fights. As for the souls elements, you can see it in things like the camps—when you rest at one, the enemies you just killed will respawn. The combat also relies on precise timing so you can pull off perfect dodges and perfect parries (btw, there are separate achievements for both of these).

As for customization, yeah, it's not super complex, but it's enough to make you happy. You can swap out outfits for Eve and her two companions. Besides outfits, there are also different kinds of earrings, glasses, and hairstyles specifically for Eve. Honestly, what kept me playing for hours was trying on all the clothes one by one and opening up photo mode so Eve could strike some cute poses. And like I said, the real selling point of this game is exploring to collect these outfits. Even in every New Game+ run, there are always new outfits to unlock. Shift Up definitely knew the story alone wouldn't keep people playing for long, so I think they purposely added new outfits in every NG+ just for us to collect. For Eve's outfits specifically, some can be worn right away, but most of them need to be crafted first—especially the ones you get from merchants or exploring. To craft them, you need specific materials that you can buy from shops or find by opening chests scattered all over the map.

One thing that I think kinda missed the mark is the voice acting. Especially the English VO—I don't know why, but it feels super stiff and has zero emotion. Even when they say something like "ahh damn," it sounds completely flat. Thank God I used the Japanese VO for my first playthrough, which I think actually did a pretty good job showing the emotion in every conversation.

Well, overall I think this game is really solid, especially for a noob like me when it comes to souls-like gameplay, so you don't have to tryhard too much to beat it. The exploration is also made super fun with unique world and enemy designs, so I highly recommend this game!\t\t\t\t\t

Fighting the normal enemies gets tedious really fast.
The level design is only okay when its at its best during the game but I despise most of it.
I also really hate the open world sections.
The characters are really flat and I could not get myself to sympathise with a single one of them.
Most of the many side missions are just fetch quests, but some of them have bosses hidden behind them. Sadly there is no way of telling if a side quest will be worth doing beforehand so you just end up spending most of your time doing boring stuff.
The story is good or atleast okay imo, I honestly have nothing to complain about.
The skill tree is so vast and gives you so many options that I ended up not using a lot off it but thats just a me issue.
I really enjoyed the enemy designs. The character designs on the other hand are just not for me ig.
The game has very good graphics but the area design is most of the time just too ugly to really appreciate that. Obviusly, the world being ugly is kind of the point since the world is literaly going down but I have seen such pretty post apocalyptic worlds that its hard for me not to compare them.
The main voice cast is fine but the side characters were just acting around their roles and were simply just not delivering.
The combat feels amazing during the boss fights but inside the levels it just gets boring or annoying. You have a lot of options with the many diffrent combos you can do tough so maybe its my fault for not utilizing it to its fullest.

From what I have heard about the developers, they seem like they are genuenly good people who treat their employes with the right amount of respect and even paying them bonuses, because the game was so successfull.

The combat is awesome. It feels smooth, satisfying, and every boss fight had me locked in. Once you get the timing down, pulling off parries and combos feels so good.

The graphics are beautiful, and the soundtrack is amazing

The only thing i didnt like was the voice acting felt "off" during certain conversations and the story was painfully predictable. hopefully the second game improves on it

Overall, *Stellar Blade* is one of the best action games I've played in a long time. It's polished, fun from start to finish, and definitely worth playing if you like games with great combat.

\n\t\t\t\t\tIf you are one of those people who laud this game as a masterpiece I'm gonna need you to upload footage of you playing any of the iconic puzzles featured in this game, such as the moving-crates-around puzzle or the fetch-a-door-code-from-a-dead-body-around-the-corner puzzle. I'm gonna need to see you smiling and giggling at the sheer joy you experience from such flawless game design. Because the way I see it, lots of ♥♥♥♥ in this game is made to get in the way of your enjoyment of it.

I'm weak for souls-like stuff but The Trademark Playstation exlusive title stench is all over this, with the flashy action abilities which repeat lengthy animations every time you use it á la Norse God of War. It gets repetative, and lacks a degree of skill expression which you would find in better character action games.

Add to the above points, that the game is excruciatingly easy on normal: It's an actual baby game which plays itself because the enemies die to simple combos before you can even parry their attacks or use any of your cool abilities. And hard is worse, because it just turns up healthbars by 400 % (thats not a joke) and ups the enemy damage by something like 2x. So what you need to do is install a mod which halves the enemies health on hard, and then you have an actual game to play here. That the devs couldn't think or be bothered to fine tune their game (hard mode is just new game plus's balancing made into a difficulty you can play from the get go), it's lazy and dumb.

The game runs really well for the graphical fidelity, and I enjoyed finding all the outfits. The outifts don't make this game manly, they don't actually punch back at wokeism or whatever. In fact, it's a lot like playing Barbie for men. Good thing I enjoy Barbie for men. Doesn't make up for the half baked game around it.\t\t\t\t\t

What about this game?
I literally bought the game for the beautiful Eve.
Her body, weapon, hair — it's all about Eve.
Eve is a good girl.
She is so kind, simple, naive, beautiful.
Eve is a character who is interested in the world.
I can't talk about Eve without spoilers.
Just want to say — I believe Eve is more than just a "body", more than an "empty shell".
As a NieR: Automata fan, this game gave me a similar feeling.
I can't quite explain this feeling — it's a combo of nostalgia, a kind of fear, and curiosity.
I think that's what it is.

So let me tell you about other aspects of the game:

Gameplay
The gameplay is really cool and awesome.
I really enjoyed every single button press, every combo, and every boss fight. (Btw, I hate fighting a certain girl)

First things first: I played this game for the plot.

Unfortunately, Eve kept distracting me, so I may have missed some of it.

But seriously, it becomes pretty obvious very quickly where a lot of the development focus went. The female characters are certainly... designed to keep your eyes on the screen. And to be fair, Eve also feels really good to control. Combat is smooth, responsive and easily the strongest part of the game.

So why would I want a neutral button?

Because outside of the combat and the obvious visual appeal, almost everything else felt painfully average.

Even the character presentation isn't always as polished as it wants to be. Hair clipping through characters during story scenes (Orcal, Kaya), bothered me way more than it probably should. Facial animations can also look strangely stiff during dialogue, which doesn't exactly help when you're supposed to care about the characters.

And that was probably my biggest problem with the story: I didn't.

I couldn't really get emotionally invested in a single main character. There are a few side quests that try to tell more interesting stories, but most of them barely scratch the surface of their ideas before they're over. There was definitely potential there, but almost none of it gets explored enough for me to actually care.

Most side quests are the usual:

go to A
pick up X
bring X to B

repeat.

Exploring the map beforehand actually feels like you're being punished for being curious, especially in the desert. You might already have visited half of these places, only for the game to send you through the exact same locations again once the quests become available.

The two desert areas don't help either. Unlocking camps through another Solar Tower again felt less like progression and more like: "Oh. We're doing this again."

A lot of the environments are similar. From a distance they can look absolutely stunning. Then you get closer and realize that many of them aren't nearly as detailed as the first impression suggests.

At the end of the day, it's an action game, and as an action game it works. The combat is fun, fluid and satisfying enough to keep you going.

Luckily, the game also doesn't take that long to finish.

Because everything between the fights eventually started feeling less like entertainment and more like work.

I absolutely love and adore Stellar Blade. It is a beautiful based game (despite Soyny's pathetic and disgusting attempts to ruin it) and is one of my all time favorites, and I am (or until today was) really looking forward to the sequel Blood Rain which was supposed to be emancipated from Soyny's forced DEI "consultation" mental slavery. But today I found out about a deeply troubling and disappointing development which by now everyone else knows about and is rightfully making their correctly negative opinion about it known, so I will also do my part and say my piece, and so here it is:

The only thing we can do now is make our voices heard so strongly and passionately that Shift Up realizes how massive and costly of a mistake this is and fires that destructive western SJW infiltrator that they just hired ASAP. Do your part. Do it politely in comments on Shift Up's YouTube videos, their Twitter posts, their Steam forums, fill out their official surveys, write emails directly to Shift Up, etc. Shift Up must be shown and reminded that they can and should be brave enough to give the people exactly what they want again, and that the people will love and support them for it, and that there will be much rejoicing and great merriment as a result of it.

All hope is not yet lost so do not despair, for hope is a virtue and despair is a sin. But the future of the Stellar Blade franchise now hangs in the balance and we cannot permit it to fall to the already soundly defeated and retreating western SJW scourge to gaming. We must do what we can to save it and ensure its bright, based, and beautiful future free from the evil tentacle grips of despicable, destructive, western SJW scum.

Still, what absolutely disastrous and demoralizing news to wake up to... Our sweet and cute little Evie is now in mortal danger... \n\t\t\t\t\t I had a lot of fun playing this game! It was entertaining, some enemies/areas gave me nightmares lol, and overall it ended up being pretty satisfying to try to get all the collections. Here's some specific thoughts:

The storyline was interesting enough but wasnt emotionally moving by any means.
I liked the combat a lot, and thought that building up skills/stats was relatively easy when you focused on exploring.
I enjoy collecting and exploring, it took up a lot of my playtime in this game. I didn't finish the cans or outfit collecting though. I was originally way more motivated to collect outfits when i first started playing but that went away when I saw they were all basically lingerie and not very cool looking.. or cute? Which also made me lose interest in collecting cans because the final outfit was another lingerie one.

\n\t\t\t\t\tIt's not bad, but it's also rather hard to find something in it worth recommending. Game runs well. Environments are pretty. Combat is mostly ok. Enemy designs are cool. The characters are pretty lame. The story is very basic. I think there are three endings. Two you unlock at the very end of the game and have to choose between. I guess you'd need to complete the game twice to see the third. I've seen one and I've not bothered to check the other two on youtube yet.

I think overall the game drags on and suffers from a lot of pointless friction. Needing to go to travel points when fast travel would work fine. Travelling between zones is extra painful. Lots of backtracking. Lots of chests and items you can't reach because you haven't been given a quest to open them yet. Monsters are repetiive and even some bosses get recycled. Side-quests are mostly just fetch quest, but you can't even get all of them in one go. You need to clear some for more to pop up. Just to waste your time, really.

Exploration feels off. You can find a lot more rare parts than you need to achieve all upgrades. I've got a dozen extra drone parts I could shove somewhere, for example. Money is mostly meaningless. First zone feels like an interesting place to explore, but then you get two separate and entirely miserable deserts. Most of the stuff you can aim to unlock are skimpy constumes. Which I have no issue with, but when the ultimate reward for the biggest collection quest is yet another set of underwear, it's kind of disappointing. I failed that quest anyway because the one soda can I failed to find is in an area you can't revist after first try. Fabulous.

\n\t\t\t\t\tI enjoyed the game, but it's a "buy on sale". The boss fights are especially fun and the combat is generally satisfying, but the game tries to do too much and spreads itself too thin. There are 3 "main" linear levels that have great pacing and design. There are 2 "special" gun-only linear levels that are okay. And there are 2 large open areas that are entirely optional and are where the side quests and collect-a-thon take place. Those open areas are the weakest parts of the game and feel like they were created specifically to pad out an otherwise short game. If they'd cut them out entirely and added maybe one more linear level, I think the game would have been substantially better. Most of the side quests are just fetch quests that involve repeatedly going back and forth to related locations. You can't grab the relevant items for the quests or fight the relevant enemies while you are there if you haven't started the quest even though you can see them. Many of the ones that aren't fetch quests have promising setups but then don't do anything interesting with the ideas. There's a quest involving some black market body parts people that has a great setup and then it just kinda ends. The team clearly has what it takes to make a masterpiece, and I hope their next game fulfills that promise. But this game has about 10 hours of great content with some wonderful bosses and level design, and then a bunch of "meh" filler for unlocking all the abilities, upgrades, cosmetic items, and the rest. Getting all the achievements and all the collectibles across the NG+ cycles is especially annoying without using backup saves. That said, the game is fun and it's a shame that so much rhetoric was focused on the design of the main character and her attire instead of on whether the game was fun. I think the devs would have been better off if they'd started off with the less risque outfits instead of having those be found much later in the game. They probably would have gotten a better reception if the male NPCs were similarly portrayed; after all it's the future and people can have whatever body they want because of technology. But if you can get past the sometimes utterly absurd looking cosmetic items and enjoy the game play, you'll have a good time on a first play through. I wouldn't recommend doing the completionist thing unless you have time to kill. I also wouldn't recommend playing the game if you are looking for a challenge. Even on hard mode / NG+, the game is pretty chill. The difficulty you get at the end of NG+ hard mode (and maybe the final 3 bosses of a first playthrough) is about where the game should have been for the entire run. It still wouldn't be as hard as a Souls game, but that felt about right for the combat and spectacle that this game is going for. The game plays fine on steamdeck and Linux in general and it has some helpful accessibility features that get rid of some of the most obnoxious QTEs, the annoyingly hard parts of the fishing minigame, and so forth.\t\t\t\t\t
