- You don't get alerts when your collectors are idle. Or I didn't see any.
- When you give orders to investigate things but you don't have the materials yet, your crew just stands in front of it locked for other tasks. At least I didn't see any progress.
- Even worse, if it's an anyomaly that can hurt your crew, they'll just happily investigate it until they're fully irradiated, making no progress because they don't have the materials.
- People collect useless banter they really really want to tell you and then when you click them tell you everything at once. If you ignore them they'll all have those "..." signs above their heads. Devs really wanted you to click every crew member multiple times a day so they can tell you how they slept.
- You can give orders to collect everything in an area but you can't cancel those orders collectively. You have to click every single node and cancel the order.
- Your people get beamed down but then you have to immediately build a shuttle port or they have to sleep on the ground.

Sure, technically this game isn’t awful. And it probably doesn’t deserve the thumbs down. But I’m giving it anyway for one big reason.
I took off my star trek fan-boy goggles just to take a serious look at it.
And it’s boring. I was bored. I LOVE city builder games, or colony sim games. I’ve played dozens. Maybe more. And while this game did have a few unique twists making it different from others in the genre, I simply can’t give it a thumbs up. I’m sick of apologists, I’m sick of people making excuses. I played the game for a few hours and learned how bored I was in the first hour.
You spend most of your time doing nothing. The game makes everything take forever, that way you have no choice but to play over 2 hours to unlock anything new or find anything cool and by then when you’ve realized it wasn’t worth it, you can't get your refund.
So I say nay.
I don’t support it. I told my people to build something that only required 11 metals. I had almost 70 metals stored up. I had roads for my people to move faster. I had no other research projects or deliveries to starfleet. And after 4 days of waiting, it STILL wasn’t built yet. Was I waiting on any other resources? NOPE! Just the metal which I had in abundance and it took over 4 days to build. Why? I don’t know.
Everything takes super freaking long in the game. You can’t skip night, can’t do literally ANYTHING at night and the games makes you sit there and wait. Each day night cycle is imbalanced and since you can’t do anything at night besides waiting, guess what you’re doing half the time you're playing?
No. I just say no to this. No to sub-par games being made to look like masterpieces. TLDR: I was bored. Bored and annoyed.
But everything else was average. Average graphics. Below average sound design. Average gameplay. Below average writing. If I gave a rating I’d give it a 4. Slightly below average.

Very similar to surviving mars. Love the Star Trek theme. Played for about 2 hours and will be jumping straight back in tomorrow morning. It's what I would expect from a city builder type game. The mechanics of the game are very straightforward for a base builder, nothing is at all obtuse for someone who has only played a handful of games in the genre. Managing your resources is fairly simple, but can be easily screwed up if you aren't paying attention, but even that doesn't have any drastic consequences, at least early on in the game.
The Star Trek flavoring is all over the game, from the characters and their interactions, to the theming of all of the base buildings and interactions, anyone who is familiar with or a fan of the series will get a lot of extra joy out of this game.

Hopefully in a year it'll resemble Star Trek more via updates and patches, but for now it is very barebones and boring. So you guys should probably stop that or no one is gonna buy your game cos they can't trust you. Unfortunately I am going to compare this game to another sim game i recently bought and one I feel does this genre much better. If there had been an existing demo that let's u get more than a limited taste of the game I would be more confident in my decision with keeping or refunding, but as it stand right now the whole situation is too iffy for me to be confident in my purchase or lack of one. I'll go into more detail below. I am going to wait for independent reviewers and keep an eye on this product to see if they go beyond just making buildings and filling it with more Star Trek content to make it feel more alive and lived in.
below are my issues in order of least to most annoying.
The graphics are super bright and washed out it actually gave me a headache; it unfortunately looks like a mobile game.
You can't name your ship but i guess that's not too bad considering you get assigned ships in lore; still woulda been cool.
Being able to name myself woulda been cool too but just being called captain is fine.
The writing is a bit tiresome; i understand we need to be hip and cool for modern audiences but it's getting so annoying how modern products need to add quips like it's a Marvel film. It's the reason I stopped watching modern Star Trek. It isn't a huge complaint cos most the time your first officer is talking about the game mechanics and it just becomes a reading tutorial but when you get the cringey heckin quirky chungus one liners it physically hurts. The writing is so bland it might as well be bread crumb filler in the ever growing meatloaf of millennial core writing.
Another thing that kind of sucks is a lack of variety; having preset crews instead of a roaster to chose from was very disheartening. I would have enjoyed being more immersed as a captain being able to pick and choose the right individual crewmen for the job (much like Two Point Museum.) From what I played I didn't see a huge verity of different alien species to even pick from; it mostly looked like human, vulcan and andorians were the main mix of species you were able to get to join you. Which if this game is based in the discovery show then there's more to choose from like telerites etc. Again i am not super familiar with Discovery or any of the newer live action shows as I didn't find them enjoyable to watch (though the animated shows are actually pretty good)
I have a feeling there isn't any interaction with alien species outside of the tentacle plants you see in the trailers; unfortunately I don't want to play more than 2 hours so I can get my refund but it seems like others who have more time on the game due to the demo all have the same concern. If the game is juts an endless loop of building stuff with no real conflict i dont see the game being worth the price. I am really hoping I am wrong but there is a lack of dev discussion about diplomatic issues like maybe plopping down on a planet that is already populated and now you need to settle the issues you have with locals; or maybe a Klingon ship lands and is threatening your colony so now you need to set up defenses or barter etc. A colony diorama sim like this would be fun but for $33 I'd like the extra challenge please; I'd also like to go on away missions and maybe not always be on the colony itself.
As it stands the game is not worth it right now and needed some more TLC; I really hope they can make some money before they throw in the towel and make something really good here cos Star Trek keeps getting screwed with games.\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t

The game play is fine, although, nothing ground-breaking new. If you enjoy the Star Trek universe you will enjoy it.

I thought I had missed something but nope, eventually you unlock "night shift" in research. Eventually. A lot of little things start adding up and eating at you like the style being off for a star trek game or the voice acting being VERY low budget or the paths and walkways you make just being ignored by the dudes.
The lil things keep pile up until you wonder why you are playing and you notice that its honestly just kinda boring. I've got free things I can do that are less boring than this. \n\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\tI see some of the negative reviews, but it's not actually bad. They could use with different styled terrains and fauna, plants, creatures and mini stories. But it's a decent base builder with good potential, i don't see why a Star Trek fan looking for a Star Trek game wouldn't want to try this. I bought it and so far I enjoy it. I hope the devs keep working on it and smooth things out more. Basically this is a building simulator, think of it as a mini Sim City mixed with Sims with a Star Trek feel. You micro manage most decisions and choices, resource gathering of your away team in order to make a stable and efficient outpost - it's decently fun!\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t

\n\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\tAfter almost 8 hours of playing it, I mostly enjoyed it, but I would also like to see it receive more polish and maybe some rebalancing from the devs.
More specifically:
- Resource harvesting in clunky and weirdly manual for the tech available in the day; gravity platforms and those gather trucks should be unlocked at tier one of tech.
- Some resources are just produced way slower than others, for some reason such as those metal alloy beams.
- I don't like how the tech unlocking is planned out throughout the gameplay using multiple tech currencies. It would be much nicer if it would be attached to the storyline instead, using only one currency.
- The storyline is also quite slow, and somewhat gets neglected at times.
- In the whole dynamics of the game, it would have been nice to have the presence of the ship in orbit more involved. E.g. need to find some resource? Perhaps add the option to scan for deposits from orbit once per day, or something like this. Not full map reveal, but just to set markers.
- In the lore, teleportation is not possible during tetryon storms, here it is.
- The way some of the resources are introduced is very random and artificial: you don't really need water for the crew in the outpost, until you build certain building. Do they just not drink beforehand? The crew in the outpost also doesn't need food until you get a quest to build a mess hall. I mean, sure they probably get it from the ship, but it would be nice to be included in the story, and to make it clear whey this change is made.
I think I will drop it for a while, and wait to see if it gets better.\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t
