\n\t\t\t\t\tI can't recommend the game the way it is right now... and the crazy part it's not even the gameplay or graphics or servers that's the issue, but the monetization.

They are changing the Founder's items to be account wide, but the subscription stays SERVER locked... same as the skins you purchase, and no change to the pass too, soo... one step in the right direction, they probably realized not disclosing any of this on the steam page can get them in legal trouble...

Still I can't accept their reasoning that they have that restriction to combat bots... you literally made killing mobs drop unbound Kina (the currency you use in AH)... and who can farm mobs easy!? That's right literal 24/7 bots...

Pretty much everything you can spend money on is either server locked or CHARACTER locked.

Oh you bought a founders pack? Well now it's bound to the FIRST character you ever created and claimed it on... thinking oh these are account wide unlocks surely. Oh and don't even think of deleting your character you claimed them on, unless you want to delete your founders items too...

The game gives you ZERO warning that your subscription is SERVER locked, yup... you want to try the other faction? Want to play with a friend and your server is full? You can't use any of your founder items now...

Surely the TWO Battle passes must be at least server unlocks right? NO, NOPE not at all... it is CHARACTER locked... what a great idea...

Anyone who like to have alts... this game is not for you.

Not to mention without the SERVER locked subscription you can't even trade in the AH so you are basically playing a solo self found game with some co-op at that point.

I don't even understand WHY have these restrictions... every skin you buy from the shop is also server locked... I can understand region locks, but server or character is just crazy...

The fact that I have a monthly sub and I can't even get free customization... or at least a monthly Quna (premium currency) based on the sub price...

The game is fun so far... but these weird decisions just make no sense to me and it just makes me not want to buy anything at all... especially cause I like to play alts and try both faction before I commit to playing one of them as the main one... but now if I end up liking the other faction, I "lost" all my stuff I paid for or got as a twitch drop...\t\t\t\t\t

\n\t\t\t\t\tMake sure you create an NCSoft Purple account BEFORE you start up the AION 2 game in steam if you are wanting to link the two accounts (especially if wanting it for the Twitch drops). There is currently a problem where if you load the steam game first then try to link the account it will tell you that you can't as one already exists. If you do a work around and delete the steam account version it will wipe everything you purchased and progress made with any charas as well as the charas. The devs have said they are looking into it. If you have already done it in the wrong order (like I did lol) then it is up to you if it is worth it to lose the charas, etc and possibly have issues or just sit and wait it out (what I am doing). Up to you, but I just wanted to warn people so they can hopefully see this before they do stuff in the wrong order.

I had an issue where my onscreen UI would disappear and I could hear it responding to key binds, but could not see them. I was baffled at first, but did figure out what was going on. So when I take screenshots in games it uses Steam's overlay and the keybind F12. In Aion2 the hide/unhide UI (for taking beautiful screenshots without the UI and name tags, etc in it) is coded by default as F12. I changed the AION2 keybind to F10 and it isn't an issue anymore. Hope this helps someone else if they run into this issue of conflicting binds.

To switch quickly between Aion2 combat (and movement/camera control) and Aion1's combat (and movement/camera control) just hit /
It will teach you this in the tutorial, but just know you can switch back and forth like crazy and is honestly a very nice perk.

Lore wise this game takes place after the original Aion game. The Balaur dragonlords won the war and Daeavas are by and large prisoners and batteries. The opening scene introduces a team of Elyos Daeva NPCs (regardless of whether you play as Asmodian or Elyos) and after a very short stint where you control one of the NPCs to move the story along and learn rudimentary controls and combat, you are rescued by said NPC daeva and rolled into the character creation screen. From there you will control your character. The initial town area for some of the intro quests/storyline will flash the screen blue and make you in a separate ... not instance, but other players are not visible, which is nice as it allows you to do required entry level quest intros without having to worry that someone else will trigger the sequence before you and cause you to have to wait or restart. I think that was well handled. When it is over it will flash blue again and other players and mobs will reappear. In the beginner area the required mobs auto repopulate VERY quickly, again this is super nice with the load of people joining all at once so you aren't stuck in the beginner area competing to get mobs for quests. You will get your wings (and therefore access to flying and gliding) very quickly compared to the first game.

Game is visually stunning. I added my PC specs as this is a laptop and a bit older. I am running everything on the auto defaults it recommended for me (which is normal to low for everything). I don't have any complaints and haven't had issues other than potentially lag or loading related ones when being teleported to another area (which is fairly normal for me, your mileage however may vary).

For money related things. There will be an optional subscription for the game which gives access to the marketplace. You can play without a sub (true free to play playing). There apparently is two different forms of the battlepass. From what I understand it accelerates progress, etc, but isn't required ( I will update this if I find out it is required for something). There is a skin/cosmetic shop. Not a ton in it currently, but probably they will add more later. There are some nice looking stuff in there. There are different tabs of skin types. Some are sets, some are individual items. The sets can be mixed and matched for pieces. Pets (both those purchased and those tamed from wild beasts) are also supposed to be mounts as well... which will make for some odd screenshots depending on the pet/mount type.

Devs have said that Oct 14th they will allows moving around from servers to servers so people can get together who were separated by servers being full up when EA launched. I don't know if it will have strings attached (special rules) for hoping around, you should watch for more official news announcements from the dev team to be sure what is going on.

I genuinely like this game so far. I also played Aion1 from launch for several years so I am somewhat biased. I am just playing and having fun, not trying to speedrun it to end game content so my review and views are based on that outlook.\t\t\t\t\t

Edit: they made the founders pack skins account wide but the 30 day membership is still not.

Commenting on your replies: It is crazy how dumb people are. I said the game was fun. I actually enjoyed it so far. I live on the West Coast and made an account there to try it out because the East servers were locked. All of my friends are playing on the East servers, so when one opened, I made a character there. Finding out the monthly sub I paid for didn't transfer was and still is upsetting because they said they were account-wide before launch. So, I posted some feedback expressing my disappointment. I didn't say the game is trash or use hyperbolic bs like most reviews. I even used an indeterminate statement, saying it would "probably" kill it for me. I will still play some because I want to get some entertainment out of my money, but I probably won't play very long unless a few things change. If you're going to comment on this, at least use the two brain cells you have and attempt to read and comprehend what people are saying.\t\t\t\t\t

I genuinely want to recommend this game, because the actual game itself is not the problem. The gameplay is fun, the graphics are good, and so far I haven't had any major issues with the servers either.

The problem is the monetization and the ridiculous restrictions attached to almost everything you pay for.

Why is so much paid content locked to either ONE server or even ONE character?

If you buy a Founder's Pack, you would naturally assume that the rewards you paid for are account-wide. Apparently not. Once you claim certain items on a character, they're tied to that character. So if that was your first character and you later decide you don't like the class, faction, appearance, or whatever else... congratulations, your paid items are sitting there with it.

And deleting that character? Better make sure you understand what happens to those items first.

Then there's the subscription. It's SERVER-LOCKED.

There is basically no proper warning making it obvious that you're paying for benefits that aren't available across your entire account. Want to switch servers because your friend plays somewhere else? Your server is full? Want to try the other faction somewhere else before deciding what you actually want to main?

Too bad. The subscription benefits don't simply follow your account.

Then we have not one, but TWO Battle Passes.

Surely those are at least shared across the server, right?

NOPE.

CHARACTER-LOCKED.

So if you're someone who enjoys making alts, experimenting with different classes, or simply trying multiple characters before choosing a main, the monetization system actively discourages you from doing that.

It gets even stranger when you realize that without the server-specific subscription, you can't properly participate in features like Auction House trading. At that point it starts feeling like you're playing some weird solo-self-found version of an MMO with co-op attached to it.

Even cosmetics from the shop being server-locked makes absolutely no sense to me. I can understand REGION restrictions. Different regions can have different publishers, pricing, infrastructure, regulations, etc.

But SERVER-locked paid cosmetics? CHARACTER-locked Battle Passes?

Why?

And if I'm already paying for a monthly subscription, why isn't there at least some additional value attached to it? Free character customization occasionally? A monthly amount of Quna based on the subscription tier? Something that actually makes the subscription feel worthwhile across the account?

That's the frustrating part: I actually LIKE the game.

The gameplay isn't what makes me hesitate to recommend it. The monetization structure and restrictions does.

Instead of making me want to spend money, these restrictions have had the exact opposite effect. I don't want to buy cosmetics, Battle Passes, or anything else because I don't know whether the character or server I'm currently playing will even be the one I stick with.

I like creating alts. I like testing classes. I want to experience both factions before committing to a main. That's completely normal behavior in an MMO. OH and, if you want to delete your character, it must be level 10 first and then there is this 7 day deletion time. I'm just laughing very hard.

But with the current system, changing your mind can mean leaving behind things you PAID for, Founder's rewards, or even rewards such as Twitch Drops.

Account-wide purchases should actually feel ACCOUNT-WIDE.

Until these restrictions are changed, I simply can't recommend spending money on the game and unfortunately, they also make it difficult for me to recommend the game itself.

\n\t\t\t\t\tWhile NCSoft has significantly toned down the P2W elements for the Western audience compared to the original Asian servers, the game still features systemic mechanics that allow players to buy power.

1. The Subscription "Soft Paywall":

Aion 2 is technically Free-to-Play, but it operates much more like a subscription game. For the global release, NCSoft consolidated the original multi-subscription model down to a single monthly sub costing around $15–$16.

While you can play for free, the Auction House is locked behind this subscription. Without the ability to trade or use the market, a purely F2P account is essentially playing a "Solo Self-Found" mode. To realistically progress and participate in the end-game economy, the monthly subscription is mandatory.

2. The Core P2W Loop: Swiping for Gold:

The most prominent P2W aspect in the global version is the legal real-money trading system, which functions very similarly to the World of Warcraft Token. You can spend real money in the cash shop. You exchange those cash shop items/currency with other players for in-game currency (Kinah/Gold). You then use that in-game currency on the Auction House to buy the best gear, crafting materials, and progression items. Because the game’s progression is heavily tied to gear, a "whale" can bypass months of grinding by simply buying the best available equipment from other players on the market.

3. PvP and Consumable Gold Sinks:

Aion 2 features open-world and arena PvP, and this is where the P2W gap becomes the most obvious. Combat in the game is heavily reliant on stats and gear rather than pure mechanical skill expression. If a whale out-gears you, they will likely kill you effortlessly. Furthermore, high-level PvP requires massive "gold sinks" in the form of consumables. To be competitive, you need a constant supply of buff scrolls, CC (crowd control) immunity items, food, and potions.

F2P or low-spending players often struggle to afford the continuous upkeep of these items, whereas players buying gold can endlessly supply themselves with the best consumables for every fight.

4. The Global "Nerfs" vs. The NCSoft Track Record:

To appease Western players, NCSoft removed a lot of the direct "buy power from the cash shop" mechanics that existed in the Eastern release. The global cash shop is currently much more focused on cosmetics, mounts, and Battle Passes.

HOWEVER, the MMO community remains highly skeptical due to NCSoft's historical track record. The company has a well-documented habit of releasing games in the West with "gutted" or mild monetization to build hype and a player base, only to slowly patch the predatory P2W mechanics back into the game a few months after launch once the initial reviews are locked in.

The Verdict:

If you play Aion 2 strictly for PvE, the P2W won't affect you much—whales will just clear dungeons faster than you. But if you intend to be highly competitive in PvP or chase leaderboards, you WILL hit a wall where fighting against players who swipe their credit cards becomes heavily imbalanced.\t\t\t\t\t

AION 2 - Advertises itself as F2P, but feels more like F2SP

AION 2 is subjectively free to start playing (F2SP). You can level, quest, run dungeons and participate in PvP without paying.

The problem is that several important systems are monetized.

Special Quai Membership

The membership costs $14.99 for 30 days and is required for access to the Market and Quna Exchange.

This isn't just a cosmetic subscription. The Market and currency exchange are core MMO economy systems. If you want access to them, you need an active membership.

The membership is also server-bound, so it does not automatically apply to characters on other servers.

Real money can enter the player economy

Quna is the premium currency purchased with real money, while Kina is the regular in-game currency.

AION 2 provides an official Quna/Kina exchange:

Real money → Quna → Kina → player economy

NCSoft does not directly sell "BiS gear" in the cash shop, and I would not claim that every BiS item can simply be bought with cash.

However, real money can be converted into the currency used in the player economy. How much combat power this provides depends on what is currently tradeable and available on the Market.

Potions, scrolls and automatic use

AION 2 can automatically use potions and buff scrolls.

Members also get access to Wind Breeze Merchants, which provide convenient access to consumables. Combat-related scrolls such as the Battle Enhance Scroll can be obtained through this system and provide temporary combat bonuses.

I'm not claiming that automatic potion/scroll use itself is P2W.

The concern is the combination of:

automated consumable use + combat-affecting consumables + membership-gated merchant access + real-money-to-Kina conversion.

In other words, healing and combat-related consumables are integrated into a monetized economy rather than being purely gameplay-earned resources.

Daeva Pass

The Daeva Pass is purchased per character, and its premium track provides additional gameplay rewards, including progression-related materials.

Again, this isn't the same as directly buying character stats, but it is another paid progression layer.

Paid cosmetics can be character-bound

The $99.99 Ultimate Founder's Pack contains several rewards explicitly marked as Bound (meaning it's bound to character), including the Blazing Sun Wings and multiple cosmetic items.

So paying $99.99 does not necessarily mean that every cosmetic can be freely transferred between all of your characters.

To be fair...

The Global version differs from the Korean/Taiwanese versions, including restrictions around trading and the player economy. I therefore wouldn't claim that Global has exactly the same monetization systems as those versions.

But the fundamental structure remains:

- Free to start playing.
- Market access requires a $14.99 monthly membership.
- Quna Exchange access requires the membership.
- Real money can be converted into Quna and then Kina.
- Kina is used in the player economy.
- Automatic use of potions and buff scrolls is available.
- Members get access to Wind Breeze Merchants and their consumables (potions/scrolls).
- The Daeva Pass is purchased per character and provides additional gameplay rewards.
- The membership is server-bound.
- Premium rewards can be Bound.

I consider this closer to F2SP than the traditional idea of F2P.

You can absolutely play AION 2 without spending money.

But you cannot access all of its important economic systems without spending money, and real money can be converted into the currency used in that economy.

For me, that crosses the line into a monetization model I don't want to support.

From the perspective of a long term MMORPG Player:
Leveling Speed, Short, the Max Lv is 45(as of this moment.)
- I got to Lv31 in 12 hours of gameplays with one other character to level 10. I livestreamed it, and I took my time. So, you probably can reach my level faster than I did if you focused on it more. It kind of brings to mind the levels are redundant.

Maybe its just the beginning, but I get the impression the world is small. But it is very beautiful and nostalgic of Aion1.

Dungeon progress speed is like 15 minutes. Felt Short.
- The ones I went into; there was no inclination to remove the enemies between start and bosses. Which leaves me to think dungeons are short. But waiting to see level 45 content.

Sub is $15, SERVER-WIDE. NOT ACCOUNT-WIDE. Basically punishes you having different friend groups on different servers. So, if you play on more than one server. Its more expensive than WoW or FFXIV. Playing on 2 servers paying for subs would make you pay $30/month. (Factor this in with leveling speed. Dungeon progress time, etc)
- Its important to know players paying keep the game alive. And taking advantage of the paying, who dont play for free, isnt a good look. It seems a bit like of a gouge. With the hand close by to twist at their leisure, if they decide too.

Cash Shop currency is 400 Quna for 5.99, Character Recustomization is 600 Quna. You have to pay $12 just to have enough for character recustomization. Keeping that base line service just out of reach like that seems like Im being take advantage of. Essentially, is just them charging $12 for Character Recustomization. In comparison to major MMOs: Other games offer character recustomizations essentially for free. FFXIV is like 10 dollars for full serice? WoW is Free Full Service.
- Quna seems a bit expensive.
- Skins are 30+ dollars. Though, all the ones available do look real nice.

The Quna costs 5.99 for 400, 14.99 for 1000, 29.99 for 2000. For reference.

Battle Pass has free and premium tiers. There is TWO battle passes. The First premium pass is 1,500 Quna, free one has no cosmetics, just potions and enhancement items (you can make these yourself). The premium pass has cosmetic currency every so often that allows you to buy stuff from the Pass Shop, which is cosmetic stuff... but not fashionable.. its all hamster themed. The Second Pass is 1000 Quna. Because the first premium pass is 1,500, it forces you to spend $30. Giving you 2000 Quna. Leaving you with 500. But you cant get the 2nd pass because the 5.99 Quna recharge only gives you 400, leaving you at 900 Quna... which means youre forced to spend $12 to get the two passes. Same issue mentioned in the previous comment on the Character Recustomization. Just not enough Quna to coerce you into spending more to have enough plus extra left over. Its frustrating because it makes you spend like an extra 5-8 dollars to make use of any of it. Its like its perpetuating a cycle.

Too an extent it feels like their specific target audience are whales. Lowkey feels not sustainable.

Support fails to offer solutions, as I accidently used my Founders Pack on a server I thought I may play on but end up not. /You can ONLY use your founders pack only ON ONE CHARACTER/. Be certain where you want your title and first sub on. Mine is sitting wasted. I feel like this made my introduction to the game very sour, and made me critical of how theyre trying to make money off people. Realizing this game can be pretty expensive versus WoW or FFXIV if you have my circumstances. I feel like I wasted 25 bucks on the founders pack. And I already feel like NCsoft minorly failed me as a customer.

Ive played Aion 1 (3 years+), GW2 (1 Year+), Blade & Soul (1 Year+), Throne & Liberty (~Month), adding Aion 2 to the list of their games Ive played. I feel NCsoft is squandering their titles. All have very interesting artwork, themes, and aesthetics, fun gameplay/adventures. Could easily be designed in a way where it can make people stick around and build a loyal and trusted fanbase. But it feels like theyre not balancing content between gameplay, time sink, money making gimmicks, etc. I seen what NCsoft does to their games when their player bases start falling off, and they start streamlining content in hopes it appeals to audiences. Which end up making a game loose its charm.

I also think a game dev company failing to learn a major component of MMORPGs is the socialization. To think Server restrictions still exist in 2026 when many games are adding cross-server travel, allowing playing with friends from different places. Look at it from a US-centric experience. I have friends on the east cost, and If you have half west, and half east players in a friend group, one side of that group gets permanently punished if they join the other sides server. Was Aion 2 really meant for a global market?

The Pet+Mount system is pretty nice. Basically turning most monsters into Pets and mounts.
The storyline is interesting, and fully voice acted. Which is nice.

I will, unfortunately, say that Im getting the feeling this game may not last long for me because of certain aspects dont keep me drawn in. I had hopes that this MMORPG would be some long term thing. Because I like having an MMORPG I can play for years with other games on the side. "Home away from Home" type thing. For example, the leveling speed decentralized the RPG/exploration journey of the game for me. But I started my interest in MMORPG during an era where leveling can take you a couple months. It will definitely be better for casual players (or whales or jobless people as long as the game is alive), because only this way the monetization will not matter much and especially if (or probably when) it gets worse. It does feel like a mobile game and needs to improve camera and combat somewhat to start feeling more like a PC game. But it does have some of the best character creators, a beautiful fantasy world, awesome amount of pets & mounts, several fun minigames and so on. But again, it is mainly good because I'm thinking about it as a free to play game as even though the monthly subscription can make it much more convenient to progress, it isn't a dealbreaker if people just want to play every now and then, not take the game too seriously and not become too competitive. In almost all cases no one is entitled to play anything for free anyway, so the fact that we get this much for free, I don't have a reason not to recommend it.\t\t\t\t\t

Aion 2's overall gameplay experience is one that is layered with lots of little issues that ultimately make it a frustrating and unenjoyable one.

Unreal Engine 5 should be enough of a red flag by now to let you know what kind of game you're getting into. I'm running a 3080 and seeing manageable frame rates on the lowest settings, however the performance tanks massively when entering areas where there are higher concentrations of players, such as towns, large scale PvP events and some events. I've seen that the same performance issues are common across the board, even for people with a 5080 or similar GPU.

Ping is mostly manageable, however there are issues with desync that aren't aided by the current damage to the Australia Singapore Cable. There are instances where you will take damage regardless of whether you are clearly dodging an attack. I personally have not tried ExitLag for this, but I'm sure it would help.

To save on long winded rants, I'll just list off some personal issues I had with the game:
- Level scaling leads to never feeling like you're becoming stronger
- Inventory management is absolutely terrible
- Resource gathering can be failed and takes a needlessly long and random amount of time early on
- Player collision leads to instances where autopathing fails, as it cannot move past someone standing in the middle of an autopath area, as well as physically blocking people from interacting with NPCs in busier areas
- Auto translation feature is awful at best. It can't even translate linked things such as parties and map pins without differing in translation across several languages; sometimes completely breaking the things that are linked. This is particularly jarring on a server where multiple foreign languages are spoken.
- The majority of skill points and daevanion points are locked behind incredibly tedious dungeons and side quests.
- A large amount of side quests are time gated behind Spacetime Rifts, which generally only spawn once every 3 hours. If you walk into the wrong area when entering a Spacetime Rift, you can be instantly killed by a guard and kicked out of the instance.
- Stats don't feel streamlined. Some stat upgrades are locked behind unlocking titles or pets, as well as the 'genus insight' system that is layered on top of the pet system. The level scaling directly impacts your efficiency in increasing stats through the latter system.
- Pay to Win stuff is a nightmare. The premium currency packs are strategically calculated to rip you off and buy more than you need. There's already two battlepasses running in tandem and both require a separate purchase of their respective 'premium' versions, costing $30 USD if you want both.
- Paid cosmetics, while optional, are expensive. A costume skin is $30, wings are $20, pets are $20, weapons are $12.

There's a lot more I could say about the game, but I think to some extent it's just not for me. I'm still willing to give it a fair chance, but I just can't recommend it in good faith, especially if you're a prospective OCE player.\t\t\t\t\t

Falling for the Hype of a Superficial World
Like many players who are desperate for a decent, modern MMORPG, I fell for the hype. I completely accepted the claims that this game would be different. In hindsight, I suspect the early praise came from people who either enjoy mindless button-mashing or just want to feel artificially powerful.
The game clearly had a massive budget. The art, animations, visual effects, sound design, and character customization are all exceptionally well done. There is an abundance of side activities and minor ways to increase your character's power. It even features a traditional Holy Trinity (Tank/Healer/DPS) for group content, which briefly makes you feel useful. But beneath this beautiful, distracting veneer, the game is completely hollow.
The Illusion of Choice: Flashy but Flat
This game strongly reminds me of Blade & Soul. There are tons of equipment upgrades, ability ranks, and simple talent trees that boost basic stats like accuracy or might—but none of it alters how the game actually plays.
The core issue is a complete lack of mechanical depth:
• Two-Button Combat: General combat boils down to a two-button, two-mouse-click event. You left-click, right-click, and occasionally press a couple of outside abilities.
• No Class Identity: If you strip away the flashy special effects, a Ranger, a Sorcerer, and a Spiritmaster play exceptionally similarly in a group.
• Watered-Down Trinity: The roles are as bland as they come. A tank is just a tank; an off-tank is just slightly less tanky. Healers heal, and DPS just stands there hit-capped.
• Irrelevant Mechanics: Crowd control is brief, barely noticeable, and usually just automated into a standard damage rotation rather than used tactically.
Why Aion 2 Fails the RPG Test
To understand why this feels so bad, you only have to look at better designed systems:
• In FFXIV, classes are rigid, but they at least feature robust resource-builder/spender loops and mechanical positioning.
• In World of Warcraft, class depth is massive. A Mage isn't just a Mage; they are an Ice Mage, Fire Mage, or Arcane Mage. Each spec acts as its own distinct class with a completely different playstyle.
Aion 2 has none of this. Every Spiritmaster at a given level will play exactly the same. There are no unique mechanical branches, no situational resource management, and nothing that makes mastering a class fun. If you want a deep, cooperative team MMORPG that rewards tactical thinking over mindless button mashing, look elsewhere.

Final Verdict: Dead on Arrival
While a lot of the negative press right now is rightfully hitting the atrocious monetization, the true death sentence for this game is its core design. Once the shiny veneer wears off, players are going to realize there is no substance here. With that said, the game comes with a myriad of issues, such as:
1. Aggressive monetisation
2. Outfits are not account wide
3. Bad ping from OCE
4. Movements feel kinda floaty
5. Solo dungeons are tedious
6. level scaling
7. Too many systems affecting your stats like achievements, etc.

combat ends up being Hold one button then every 30 seconds press another.
as soon as you get to max level you can already see gatekeeping of the content needed to gear up.
most of the people already know exactly what to do so you do not get that new mmo experience.
dungeon are lame as everyone just runs and skips everything.
the combat damage numbers are pointless as your character will attack so fast you cant read a damn thing.
gathering might be the worst ive seen as its just watching a success and failure meter fight for 10 seconds.
if you like lost ark then you will probably enjoy this but for me it feels like the ripped every good thing about a mmo out and filled it with the worst parts of a gatcha game. ill keep trying for a few to see if im just missing something but this doesnt even compete with Throne and liberty and that should say something.\t\t\t\t\t

I played the play-test both days back to back (12hr total before launch) and decided to buy the DLC for roughly $20, so far experience has been great - typical MMORPG experience. I've played many MMORPGs being TERA, Final Fantasy 14, Blade & Soul, Lost Ark, Black Desert Online etc and this has been quite fun and lived up to the good ol' days.

Outfits:
I see people complaining about the outfits which is hilarious, most outfits are in-fact GRINDABLE through Shujo (hourly event), old gear you don't use can be extracted into outfit pieces instead of trashing them, outfits are currently costing (around $30-$35, idk where people are getting the $50+ from when I spent around $35 for a cash shop outfit but okay) To also note when you do add money into the game for the outfit, you get extra bonus currency to spend in another shop for any utility things you may need (e.g. hp potions etc). So far the only people that have outfits are the ones that paid the highest tier for DLC for that white outfit, everyone else is chilling doing the event every hour. We get a lot of rewards from that, a lot of constant gear from dungeons also which can be turned into free outfits. The wings are also grindable, pretty sure everything is lol. I've gotten more outfits from disenchanting gear at my tiny level and looking to get the Shujo outfits too, the cash shop doesn't even compare, it has like 5 outfits(?), barely anything - Grinding is the way to go (by playing fun minigames and levelling up through story)

Most MMOs would lock your outfits behind a particular race but since there aren't any races people are complaining that it's not fair outfits are locked to one character. (Maybe should of considered claiming your items on a character you actually like rather than the first one you made)

Did I mention we also have a ridiculous amount of FREE PETS AND MOUNTS? Kill the creature a few times, get the souls and bam, free mounts like what? Amazing.

Queues & Maintenance:
We had many people anticipating to play and had queues of 1.5k people trying to get online at the same time, they had done a stress test but since the playtest was available for 2 days, I suppose more people missed it and instead decided to buy the DLC on a game they hadn't tested beforehand. ALOT more people I can see are on the servers so naturally there were issues, they did an emergency maintenance before launch so it was delayed by 30min but I've gotten no issues at all throughout the game with bugs.

Character Customisation:
It's very extensive, really able to customise it down to the tiniest detail. I saw someone complain about buying a character customisation ticket because they didn't like the character how they made - We get a free character customisation ticket in the mail that lasts in inventory for 7 days to make any alterations for free.

P2W accusations:
It's more-so pay-to-progress like every typical Korean MMO, you are in no competition with anyone so play casually, baffles me that people have paid for a DLC for early access just to make a negative review when they have barely even gotten out of the early levels with 2 hours under their belt (lol) - Pretty sure most of those 2 hours are spent in queue, tutorial and character customisation. Barely any play-time to even get their wings at level 10 but okay.

Graphics:
Really good looking regardless what graphics setting you're on (yes including very low), definitely did a great job on the shadows and small attention to detail throughout all. Graphics are really pretty, highest graphics definitely have to be the best I've seen in a long time compared to many remastered graphics on MMORPGs. Of course good graphics come with the load on the PC but as long as you have bare minimum specs, you'll survive.

Final Verdict:
Having a great time, people complaining without giving the game even a chance after putting down money to get the game 5 days earlier instead of waiting to see the game for FREE. They clearly did not try out the play-test that was on 2 different dates with different times to give everyone a chance to play. The negative reviews are insane, we barely even get MMORPGs let alone ones that give us so many free things but people are heavily entitled and expect everything to be FREE. Once everything is free then they will complain for every other part of the game when it doesn't enable/benefit them to be the strongest out there and able to 1-shot.

Free to play games usually have to fund their game somehow so that YOU can get the content, updates and events that you want after speed-running to endgame instead of pacing yourselves. You are not being forced, coerced or anything to spend money, it's F2P but if you want to get ahead for whatever reason then it's pay to progress. Any responsible individual in this economy wouldn't be dumping money carelessly to progress when you can take your time to grind it out and enjoy the free stuff (that looks way better than most of the cash shop stuff).

Only complaint:
Please make the player colliders non-existent, people tend to AFK on autopathing routes and end up getting people stuck and/or block the way to access NPCs due to the amount of people huddled around an NPC, thank you.\t\t\t\t\t

Don't let the graphics fool you, the combat is boring and floaty. It feels exactly like a cheap phone game... nothing to do with the real Aion...

To top it off, the class design is boring. Exp: The Cleric only has AoE heals that aren't very useful until end-game. Plus, you can't even heal players outside your group, destroying any real MMO interaction. With no real single-tab-target healing to save the right person at the right moment, leveling is just a mindless chore.

Even if it's optional, the game is built entirely around auto-play. With auto-path, auto-target, auto-potion, and auto-buff scrolls, the world and the mechanics are completely brainless. You are just a spectator watching an automated mobile game run on your PC.

And the cherry on top? For now the paid subscription (membership) is locked to a SINGLE server. If your friends move, you have to pay all over again. A shameless cash grab.

\n\t\t\t\t\tI bought the $100 Ultimate Founder’s Pack because I wanted to play Asmodian.
At Early Access launch, Asmodian character creation was restricted, so if I wanted to play at all, I had to start as Elyos. I claimed the Founder’s Pack rewards there, reasonably assuming that paid Founder cosmetics would be available across my account.
Now that I can finally play Asmodian, I found out that these rewards are effectively locked to the Elyos side/server/character. Support also confirmed that they do not provide transfers for items, products, characters, servers, regions, or accounts.
This treatment of paying players is simply not acceptable.
A premium Founder’s Pack, especially one that costs $100, should be account-wide. These are paid rewards tied to the player’s account, not something that should become permanently trapped on one character or one faction because of launch restrictions or an early decision.
If a player pays this much for exclusive cosmetics, mounts, pets, wings, skins, and other bonuses, they should be able to use those rewards across the same account. At the very least, there should be a one-time transfer, entitlement reset, reissue option, or even the ability to purchase a second pack for another faction.
I even offered to have the rewards removed from my Elyos character, reset the entitlement, or buy another Ultimate Founder’s Pack for Asmodian, but there is currently no solution.
The upcoming server transfers do not solve the problem either, because they only work between servers of the same faction.
What makes this especially frustrating is that the issue was caused by Asmodian character creation being restricted at Early Access launch. Players were pushed into starting somewhere else, and now those same players are being punished for it by losing access to rewards they paid real money for.
This is not how premium Founder’s Packs should work. Paid Founder rewards should follow the account, not a single character.
NCSoft should seriously reconsider this policy, because this kind of system damages player trust and makes people think twice before spending money on future packs or cosmetics.\t\t\t\t\t

\n\t\t\t\t\tI did not read any review before installing this game... I played Aion for hundrer of hours when it originally launched, and it was incredible.. This game (very beautiful) feels soulless.

I still have memories of that magnificient first lake in Elysea in lvl <10 zone. The ascension quest, the pleasure to fly. It felt like an actual magical world.

And now, what do we get? Dozens of players running in line through auto-pathing.
That alone destroys much of the feeling of actually being part of a universe. You no longer travel through the world, you are simply transported from one objective to another.
We move across huge maps, but they feel uninhabited. There are plenty of characters running around, yet almost no sense of other players actually being there. No encounters, no curiosity, no reason to stop and look around.

The problem isn't simply that Aion 2 has auto-move. It's that the game seems designed around movement so uninteresting that it needs auto-move in the first place. If combat is supposed to be the meaningful part of the game, build the levels so I'm naturally moving between interesting encounters. Don't create a huge empty distance and then give me a button to stop playing while I cross it...

This is the first game review I have ever written, simply because I am genuinely shocked by this level of laziness. It feels as though all the things that once made MMOs fascinating have been streamlined away in the name of convenience.

I won’t be coming back.

If you are a 30+ gamer who remembers when MMORPGs were about discovering a world rather than following an automated checklist, I would strongly recommend staying away from this kind of slop.\t\t\t\t\t
