customisable, and packed with personality-- dst is a great experience that can keep you up for hours. there is so, so, so much content, enough that it can feel a little daunting at times. survival is mostly intuitive, although delving deeper requires, at times, a little bit of guesswork and bravery. <br><br>the most defining aspect of dst is certainly its characters-- it's not a new feature in survival horrors, but i find that dst does an excellent job of making character choice feel important and game-changing, whilst still being balanced. additionally, the personality shines through in tons of small ways that add life to the game; dst goes to great lengths to make character choice feel weighty and meaningful rather than superfluous, and it really adds to the experience. <br><br>that being said, the learning curve is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ <i>steep</i>. you will, in all likelihood, spend a frustrating amount of time dead or close. other survival games like minecraft, subnautica, and raft, usually only require 1-2 hours of gameplay before it stabilises, and your objectives shift to progression, rather than survival. dst is nothing like that. i found myself grappling with sanity, hunger, and health even 6 hours into a single game. personally, i found the challenge to be both frustrating and immersive-- whether you'll enjoy it is a matter of personal reflection. it's easier with friends, but can still be demoralising to watch a whole two hours of progress go up in flames.<br><br>dst is ultimately a punishing survival game with touches of horror and an excellent depth to it,
