A lot of balancing issues made this game a chore. You can pick-and-choose one of 3 locomotives and 2 of 10 wagons, all deciding what cards you get - and it sounds really fun. Until you realize some of the starting combos are just immediate death. I understand some wagons are purely defgensive in nature, but even some of the offensive ones just lack options. Crane cannot hit units that shoot from 2 tiles away. Harpoon cannot... do anything at the start, really. I do not want to meticulously look through every card on every starter wagon before picking them, I want to try and find fun combinations and experiment. But doing that means you will just restart over and over realizing yet another combination is just useless or straight up unplayable as a starting combo. Why make it like that? Why give the option to pick wagons at start that straight up do not work as starter wagons?

I like Fogpiercer a lot, the combat is great, I particularly like the way positioning is integrated into the combat, it's essentially Slay the Spire and Into The Breach smashed into one another and it works excellently.
I think the music/sound design isn't very good and the art style is forgettable and at times incohesive.
I feel very similarly to this title as I did to the first Monster Train, its a studio making something that has the potential to be incredible with subsequent iterations.
