\n\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\tThe game is great in respect to it's gunplay, movement, spell combos and upgrades, but the main issue I have is with the map design itself. Coming from DRG (Deep Rock Galactic), I've always enjoyed the interactivity you had with the surrounding environment, no 2 runs will have the exact same cave. In this game, it really just feels like you're moving to different points of interests doing chores. Some of the events are fun and unique, but I can see it becoming repetitive or old soon. I know it's not the main appeal of the game, but it would be nice to see randomly generated map layouts, maybe as an option or new mode. Overall, a great game to play solo or with friends,\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t

And then I got a gun to level 100. "Okay, time to prestige it. It'll be useless until I get it back to level 40 but it'll be stronger for it after that." And then its level went to 1, but its upgrades and jokers didn't go away. As a former Warframe player I couldn't believe it. No forced retreats to lower difficulties to grind xp. You can just play whatever you were already playing without interruption.

However, the game is still good because the combat is still enjoyable. My biggest issue with the gameplay is that enemies will spawn all around you at certain instances, which is just annoying. As in Helldivers, where the bugs and robots, etc all come from a hole, or a ship, or multiple ships. These enemies just appear 20 yards ahead.
There is definitely not enough to make each run different. The "jokers" (upgrade cards) just slightly modify the gameplay. Only when you stack the same joker 5 or 6 times do you really notice something drastic. The fun part about rogue likes is that one run where you become unstoppable, and there just aren't many, if any, of those moments in the game.
The game is also relatively easy, compared to something like Helldivers 2. Helldivers 2 basically requires you to play with other people to complete the hardest missions, whereas I was basically able to run through the whole game on the highest difficulties by myself.
I rarely died, I think 3 times in total...and of the times I did it was because the character was struggling to pick up a health bottle that was on the ground but rendered invisible because of the environment...and if you hit pickup after you picked up the health it just drops it. Pretty annoying.
The inaccurate guns were also just annoying to play with. Guns like the shotgun, quad, etc, that have bloom applied are very frustrating. The game relies on pretty accurate shooting for certain enemies and it is frustrating to watch shot after shot miss because of RNG. Accuracy weapons like the sniper were much more satisfying, but some clipping issues on the environments was another layer that just removes enjoyment.
I hated riding the horses, I just ran everywhere using the dash jump to gain speed. I don't know why you can't shoot while on the horse. I was so confused when I started because it obviously should be possible, but IDK. The little puzzles got old fast, and were not enjoyable...Helldivers 2 has a similar issue but I found those games puzzles more satisfying partially because they were under stress, but it also felt rewarding to try and do it faster each time. The puzzles in Far Far West rarely have stress, and can be tried over and over again while having very little resets.
I don't mind playing it. I liked it more than Fireteam Elite, but less than RoboQuest & Helldivers 2.
If it was more than $15 it would not be worth it.
Bug/Glitch/Crash/Framerate wise, it ran beautifully, had absolutely zero issues. Never played coop so I can't comment on the online side. But Solo, Offline Mode, it was wonderful.\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t

As someone who has previously played Deep Rock Galactic for hundreds of hours on my PS5, this game really does capture the same horde shooter insanity while also incentivizing good teamwork and comradery. Out of all the games I have played in a long time, Far Far West: Frostburn is easily one of the best. I give it a flat-out 10 out of 10. Even though I haven't even unlocked all of the spells or guns yet, I am completely hooked on the gameplay loop.
The standout feature for me is how flawlessly the game integrates gunplay with magic spells. Combining shooting with magical elements feels incredibly satisfying, and the build variety gets even better when you start picking up upgrade cards mid-run. It makes every playthrough feel fresh and unpredictable. (Though I do have to give a special shoutout to the Rubber Duck upgrade card. It literally just gives you squeaky shoes. There is nothing quite like trying to pull off an epic, high-stakes magical gunfight while sounding like a walking dog toy, but it perfectly sums up the game's chaotic energy).
It is also an absolute blast to play with friends. Before you even start a run, the saloon serves as the perfect hub to hang out and prep. The developers put so much care into making the environment reactive—you can play darts, mess around, or just start knocking over chairs and bottles while you wait.
Honestly, this game is a dream come true for anyone with ADHD. There are glorious distractions everywhere you look. If you want to spend an entire hour in a single run just chasing side activities and playing the fun mini-games scattered across the map, you absolutely can. On the flip side, if you want to lock in, rush through the map, and beat the boss quickly, the game accommodates that too.
The only potential downside to watch out for is group compatibility. Because the map invites so much exploration and distraction, it might test the patience of players who just want to speedrun if they pair up with teammates who like to stop and smell the roses.
Looking to the future, I think the developers have a massive foundation to build on. It would be amazing to eventually see a larger saloon or a small, open-world city with MMO elements where more than four players can congregate and hang out. Even if that is a lofty wish, the current game is phenomenal.
