The combat system is peak too, down to the suppression mechanics! When your character gets shell shocked, you can hear him start to panic, and his gun become shaky! A lot of people are complaining about the move speed.. Get off of COD buddy. The average Aussie had to carry 59 - 74 lbs. Let's strap that to your back and see how fast you can run while getting shot at. Most of the negative reviewers need to lose their review privileges. They are comparing it to squad and BF1, they aren't trying to be those games. The WWI series has had it's own distinctive gameplay with this one being the best yet! My PC specs aren't the best, but even with my specs I get a solid average of 60 - 80 fps! This game is peak. \n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\tI have to preface this by saying, first and foremost, that I adore this franchise and this developer with all my heart. I was an early tester for Verdun, and I have bought every other game in the series on Day 1 of release since. Another preface: If Steam allowed it I would rate this a 5/10 right now. Not fully disliking it, just want some issues fixed.
This game more than the others feels like they just wanted to recreate Battlefield 1. The classes, the "down" system and medics, the chaotic urban maps, it just doesn't feel like the WW1 Game Series...
The "down" state is annoying AF and feels like its only purpose was to implement a Battlefield-esque Medic class. It literally adds nothing else to the game, and you will spend most of your time in-game in this state.
There are a number of bugs still. One saw me "soft locked" out of aim-down-sights at some point, which meant I couldn't sprint either, until I reloaded and it reset. Also had a few times where the AI came to revive me, but then just walked away without actually getting me up.
Attackers get way too few points right now, and attacks on objectives are more annoying than satisfying. The point should be to make the attack itself costly and difficult, with exposed approaches and heavy defenses (this is the First World War after all) so that when the defenses are finally breached, the attackers have the satisfaction of success. Tying into the idea of this feeling like Battlefield, though (and this was an issue with Isonzo too) the "attack" itself consists more of chaotic fighting in no-man's land as the enemy leaves their defenses to meet you in the field, then more chaotic close-range fighting in the objective as the defenders reinforce faster than they can be killed. Nothing is more annoying than finally gaining the headquarters sector, just to watch the entire defending team spawn in all at once a few meters away and sweep you aside, resetting your progress. Verdun and Tannenberg gave attackers the chance to take a position and repulse enemy reinforcements from a distance. Isonzo and Gallipoli don't give you that chance.
Weapon sway and stamina is a good addition, but a bit excessive. I feel like I get motion sick halfway through a match... In a game like Squad, where maps are huge, combat is slow, ranges are long, and combat is more about tactics and maneuver, heavy weapon sway is an important mechanic. In a game like this where everything is closer, there's a lot of movement, and the objectives are designed to be more of an "arcade" experience, it doesn't make as much sense to punish players so much. It gets especially annoying when a short sprint makes you sway like you're having a seizure, while the AI is entirely unaffected.
Which leads me to the AI. I know it's a minority opinion, but I mostly play these games offline with bots. I know I miss a core experience of the game by not playing with other players, but I don't care. In the other games it's been good enough. Sure the bots aren't great, but they were enough to get a good cinematic experience, and that's more what I'm after. In this game, though, bots become more a nuisance. They appear unaffected by stamina or weapon sway, and WILL nail a perfect shot while moving from 100m away. The new smoke and dust mechanics that provide concealment also don't affect the bots, who still see perfectly through any conditions. They also seem capable of shooting through walls at the moment, because I died many times while crouching somewhere nobody could possibly have had a line on me. Finally, the bots still have the horrible logic they had in Isonzo, which is to say they will leave their cover and push forward as far as they can no matter what. This leads to the "defenders" being on the attack just about as much as the "attackers" are at any given time in a match.
Now for the positives. The AI has improved in other regards. They seem to use call-ins better than before. In the other games they AI officers just spam call-ins on the exact same position as soon as the cooldown ends. This one they do much better. The bots also use cover better, and seem slightly more logical. Finally, the biggest plus of every game in this franchise. IT LOOKS INCREDIBLE! This developer has always done a superb job of creating the most immersive, realistic, and gorgeous (in a war-torn, ruined hellscape kind of way) maps of any FPS game. Their dedication to recreating real battlefields with unrivalled attention to detail is so admirable, especially for a historian of the First World War. The maps tell a story just by walking around them, to where you feel like you can tell exactly what was happening there before you spawned in, and everything feels lived-in and fought-over, not just a sterile game map. The map design is also great, with variety in terrain types, good but also realistic defenses, and balancing without just looking like a dev putting something down and saying "this is here for balancing".
So overall, 5/10 IN ITS CURRENT STATE. This is important because I feel that these devs are MORE than capable of fixing the issues I mention. I will support this franchise to the end, but I sincerely hope they fix some of these issues so I can love this game as much as I love the others.

\n\n\t\t\t\tThis game more than the others feels like they just wanted to recreate Battlefield 1. The classes, the "down" system and medics, the chaotic urban maps, it just doesn't feel like the WW1 Game Series...
The "down" state is annoying AF and feels like its only purpose was to implement a Battlefield-esque Medic class. It literally adds nothing else to the game, and you will spend most of your time in-game in this state.
There are a number of bugs still. One saw me "soft locked" out of aim-down-sights at some point, which meant I couldn't sprint either, until I reloaded and it reset. Also had a few times where the AI came to revive me, but then just walked away without actually getting me up.
Attackers get way too few points right now, and attacks on objectives are more annoying than satisfying. The point should be to make the attack itself costly and difficult, with exposed approaches and heavy defenses (this is the First World War after all) so that when the defenses are finally breached, the attackers have the satisfaction of success. Tying into the idea of this feeling like Battlefield, though (and this was an issue with Isonzo too) the "attack" itself consists more of chaotic fighting in no-man's land as the enemy leaves their defenses to meet you in the field, then more chaotic close-range fighting in the objective as the defenders reinforce faster than they can be killed. Nothing is more annoying than finally gaining the headquarters sector, just to watch the entire defending team spawn in all at once a few meters away and sweep you aside, resetting your progress. Verdun and Tannenberg gave attackers the chance to take a position and repulse enemy reinforcements from a distance. Isonzo and Gallipoli don't give you that chance.
Weapon sway and stamina is a good addition, but a bit excessive. I feel like I get motion sick halfway through a match... In a game like Squad, where maps are huge, combat is slow, ranges are long, and combat is more about tactics and maneuver, heavy weapon sway is an important mechanic. In a game like this where everything is closer, there's a lot of movement, and the objectives are designed to be more of an "arcade" experience, it doesn't make as much sense to punish players so much. It gets especially annoying when a short sprint makes you sway like you're having a seizure, while the AI is entirely unaffected.
Which leads me to the AI. I know it's a minority opinion, but I mostly play these games offline with bots. I know I miss a core experience of the game by not playing with other players, but I don't care. In the other games it's been good enough. Sure the bots aren't great, but they were enough to get a good cinematic experience, and that's more what I'm after. In this game, though, bots become more a nuisance. They appear unaffected by stamina or weapon sway, and WILL nail a perfect shot while moving from 100m away. The new smoke and dust mechanics that provide concealment also don't affect the bots, who still see perfectly through any conditions. They also seem capable of shooting through walls at the moment, because I died many times while crouching somewhere nobody could possibly have had a line on me. Finally, the bots still have the horrible logic they had in Isonzo, which is to say they will leave their cover and push forward as far as they can no matter what. This leads to the "defenders" being on the attack just about as much as the "attackers" are at any given time in a match.
Now for the positives. The AI has improved in other regards. They seem to use call-ins better than before. In the other games they AI officers just spam call-ins on the exact same position as soon as the cooldown ends. This one they do much better. The bots also use cover better, and seem slightly more logical. Another issue i have is with strecher ppl they can only heal you while everybody can revive eachother wich makes the class kinda usless, i would like to see the revive system locked bahind that class but if the game balance works well with the current system i am happy : ).

I think the weapon sway is similar to when holding rifles in real life making it hard to hit shots at long ranges if you're not braced or holding your breath. I'm really enjoying it so far. The gun models and maps look amazing as well.
I did notice one bug, sometimes when enemies are behind cover and you can only see the top of their head or similar they disappear and reappear for some reason (not crouching, the model just disappears), people were complaining about it in chat. I'm sure this bug will be fixed. Otherwise it seems to be polished well.\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t

Gallipoli is an excellent change in the WW1 Games Series formula, making suppression valuable and a key part of gameplay, swapping up how officers work back to the Verdun formula, changing how spawns work in the best way possible, and making stamina important.
In Verdun every squad was unique with different call ins for the officer and that makes a return here - each squad is specialized. You're incentivized to defend, counter attack, or break through depending on the abilities and intention behind the call ins. It's excellent. Please watch their youtube videos from before release to see them in action, but the SOS call in is wonderful on defense.
In Isonzo speed was key, suppression doesn't matter, and gas gas gas - Gallipoli turns that formula on its head. Everything is the same speed, but people complain it is slower (it's not). Gun sway, weight, and stamina all play in how you can be accurate and return fire. Suppression fire matters and you can't just simply shift-zoom in as Mountaineer to snipe the machinegunner trying to pin you down. Gone are the days of people ignoring bullets, you will also get credit for suppressing enemies firing over their heads. These are people trying to not die and you are simply in control of their movements in the moment.
Stamina plays a huge role and if you sprint a mile and try to fire you're going to be all over the place, unless your weapon is resting on a surface, another great addition.

Get bent lmao what the hell is wrong with you, giving a negative review to a game that's not meant to be played like that. It's just there so you stop complaining in the discussion board and so matches get filled out on low pop days.
This is day one, so the "mixed" review status is undeserved, it JUST came out and you don't know how to play; welcome to the club @sshole. Get on HQ, stop standing on the support objective if we're about to lose HQ.
Besides all of that, the major criticism I can offer is I really want the viewmodels to be farther away. It seems like whoever animated the guns (dude A++ work by the way, especially with how you flick the safety off some guns when taking them out) ran this on a 60 degree FOV. Give me Isonzo FOV with the viewmodels and I can't say jack nor sh!t bad at the moment.\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t

No sprint sliding around corners with machineguns but rather methodical and careful pushes forward. The supression and panic mechanics are also really very good, really add an intensity to gunfights I haven't quite seen anywhere else.
