\n\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\tSo far, this is everything I wanted from a new Gears of War game. The opening act sets a phenomenal tone that harkens back to the "horror" of classic gears. Further than this, the game is an absolute technical marvel. I have not seen real-time rendering look this good in ANY game before, and the use of UE5 Megalights is one to behold. Multiplayer is fun, Horde is fun, and all I would want now is OverRun mode... Overall, I give this the highest of recommendations, and you'd be doing yourself a disservice by not playing this.

I checked out Gears of War E! today on the Steam Deck and Steam Machine, and I have to say, performance-wise I expected more. Generally speaking, it looks a little better on the Steam Deck than in the beta, but it's still far from being playable. :/ It's a real shame; the game proves once again that UE5 usually means poor optimization. It's a pity... On the Steam Machine, it definitely runs acceptably, but not really well either. :/ Here's a little preview...

The visuals are incredible and it keeps the gritty, brutal tone that made Gears what it is. It feels true to the series instead of toning things down to fit today’s “politically correct” gaming climate.
My only real concern so far is optimization. Even at 4K with everything set to low in versus, I’m averaging around 150–170 FPS. That’s certainly playable but I expected better performance at the lowest settings.

Further than this, the game is an absolute technical marvel. I have not seen real-time rendering look this good in ANY game before, and the use of UE5 Megalights is one to behold. Multiplayer is fun, Horde is fun, and all I would want now is OverRun mode... There's very few cosmetics that cost actual money, most are earned through gameplay/achievements or through an in game currency which is fantastic. The optimisation has had a big improvement from the beta. The game feels way smoother overall, I'm running on high/ultra settings at 1440p, DLSS - quality with a stable 60fps on a 8gb card.
The story so far has also been incredibly gripping. I obviously wont spoil anything, but I'm completely invested already. The atmosphere, storytelling are all exactly how I'd hoped they would be. being a long time fan of gears and seeing where it all began is amazing.
most importantly, the gun play feels great. (most of the time) IMO, the movement is probably the biggest change. It's noticeably slower, especially compared to something like Gears 5 and its crazy wall bouncing. this feels much closer to the movement of Gears 1 and 2. but honestly, it feels good for the most part. There are still moments where the movement can feel a little clunky, but generally I really like it.
So far, its shaping up to be exactly what I wanted from a new Gears game. Great gunplay, incredible visuals, a great story, and movement that brings it closer to the feel of the original games, overall, I think this is up there with some of the best gears. granted I did not play as much gears 4 or 5 and my peak play time was with gears 1,2 3, judgement and reloaded. i do not think you are missing much if you do not buy the premium edition. but the game is worth the base price.\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t

I am only on act 2 part 3 as of writing this review but so far I am really loving this games campaign. Not jumped into the muliplayer side of the game yet as I got the game primarily to play the campaign.

My friend said that a new gears game is coming out and wanted the whole friend group to play
said the open beta is free
no one showed up and i didn't care for gears, but what the hell, i don't want him to be lonely
and so, unfortunately for me, i was hooked
runs great (i see other people struggle with that so mileage will wary), feels just as good as it did in the open beta, gnasher is stronger in pve, feels great, pvp felt great even though i suck, and i can't believe how hard the hooks have sunk in.
didn't expect this to slap as hard as it does
i don't believe any game is worth 70$ let alone 110$, but i don't regret it one bit, game's peak
