I want to say it was worth the money.
I've never felt worse about leaving a bad review, but I just cant recommend this right now. This is easily one of the most beautiful games I have ever played, but there's just too much wrong with it.
I'm not unaccustomed to esoteric games or games that aren't exactly forthright with its goals, but this one broke me. Worthless directions, deceptive directions, and flat out no directions. Mechanics that aren't even hinted at and a thousand buttons that do seemingly nothing. Even when you're going in the right direction you're bombarded with messages telling you to go somewhere else or acting like you've been mindlessly wandering for the past hour.
Don't even get me started on the transmitter puzzle.
I don't want hud markers, yellow paint, or anything equally awful. That would absolutely ruin this game and anyone asking for it should be ignored outright. The problem is they're too concerned with being cute with the writing than ACTUALLY GIVING US ANY IDEA WHERE TO GO.
WE HAVE A COMPASS, ALL THE MAIN BUIDINGS ARE ALL NAMED, THERE ARE COUNTLESS AMAZING EXAMPLES FOR LANDMARKS AND YOU ALWAYS PICK THE WORST ONES! GIVE US THE DIRECTION AND WHAT BUILDINGS ARE NEARBY.
At one point you're told to look for a pyramid shaped building, which sounds pretty easy to find until you realize its COMPLETELY FLUSH WITH THE ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ GROUND AND SURROUNDED BY THE BIGGEST TOWERS ON THE MAP! YOU GET NO OTHER DIRECTION! THE BUILDINGS ITS NEAR ARE NEVER EVEN MENTIONED!
Even if you figure out where all the places are, chances are you're still gonna be confused. You're given 3 areas to find each with something you need, at least, that's what you'd think based on how the message is written. In reality, only 2 of the areas have the 3 items, and the third requires all three to operate, not that you'd know bc its genuine psycho logic to even recognize that something is missing at first and the helper tells you to search the area for something that isnt even there (they were referring to the whole map i guess).
And what's your reward for sticking through it all? a message that this reveals this is chapter 1 of however many and a migraine from how inhumanely bright the game and its menus are at all times.
I think the patches address some of these but i just dont wanna go through this again to check. Maybe when I recover some of the soul this game ripped from me, but not for a while.

Unfortunately, it is an absolutely confounding work of art that also has some pretty serious performance issues...just not immediately noticeable. Give it about half an hour though (or go near a certain tornado) and you'll suddenly find your system slows to a crawl and generates a gigabytes large log file in locallow. If you've had this happen to you, you should probably go clear that. Happened to me!
I want to love this game. The art and mood are terrific, but good lord is it inscrutable. To some extent that confusion is part of the mood, but there are limits and you discover pretty quickly that it does not get any better as time goes on.
You will be given directions to landmarks that you might be able to see? You might be able to identify? You're told to look for heat or airflow anomalies but, it turns out, that just isn't actually a thing and you're left to your own devices to hopefully wander in the right direction until you are maybe fortunate enough to spot the place it wants you to go.

You are a robotic spider with UI that makes no inherent sense, a guide who seems just as lost and confused as you, and you have to constantly hide in the shadows to avoid being cooked by the sun. The exploration/ traversal is amazing and really well done. The environment is stunning, and the story is intriguing. Reminds me in a way of the feeling of playing Shadow of the Colossus blind for the first time. Overall, if you like the art style and you're in the mood to be lost and confused but in awe, this game is quite the gem.\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t

I was going to overlook the use of AI for translation as I thought it couldn't really dampen the experience, but it definitely makes me wonder if it can lead to such obtuse in game directions how much wonderful flavor was stripped by the machine.
I am looking forward to the future of this game and next chapters, but I hope that some of these incredibly rough edges can be rounded.

Additionally, unless you have a very particular interest in scuttling around brown ruins looking for a needle in a haystack to get objectives and interactable points to pop, you're going to have a bad time. Trying to find the entrance to the power plant took me most of my clocked playtime, and I didn't end up finding it before asking for a refund. The instructions were extremely vague. "Find a really small and hard to find entrance over, uhhhh, in this general area, on this giant building, maybe, possibly! :)"

If you read other reviews about this game my words won't be too different. The first hour of the game is fenomenal. The intro into a destroyed world and you understanding that something big is at stake but are completely clueless is brilliant. The environment is cool, soundtrack is nice, and even the main gameplay loop of dodging the sun is fun. And thats about the only good things I have to say.
This game has a navigation problem. You are giving vague instructions where to go, but you have better luck progressing the story buy walking around then trying to figure out what your chat bot ment. There are no pointers, visual or audio cues, or dynamic terrain, 90% of the building look the same. And the landmarks that should be your points of interest are spread apart in such a way that if (and you will) go to the wrong one you have simply wasted time. Because God forbid you decide to walk at your own pace in a walking sim.
Even worst, at a certain part of the game you have to do multiple things on different landmarks. There is a order (more or less). The problem is that there is no check list. The only thing you have is a conversation log file from your chat bot, and a system log file where you store surounding information like in what district you pass by, are there diviations in the wind ect. The chat bot gives you vague instructions and every time you do something he talks more, and the log file gets longer. At some point if you want to see what was the main thing you where doing you have to scroll thru a lot of text just to figure out what you could do. Not to mention if you are going to a objective and dodging the sun, you can simply get a popup from the chat bot telling you how annoying he is witch prevents you from walking till you close it.
This Is the most important note, this is not a finishd game. Curently there is only episode 1. I didnt know that this was a episodic game. It dosent say anywhere its a episodic game. Do with this information as you like.
The radio. The thing that you will look at every time you click tab. Is used only twice. And the way you are supose to use it is so dumb that you could take 80% of the UI buttons off and still be abel to finish the puzzle. This is a shame because I was so pumpt to use it for ho knows what. Its simply a bummer.
There are no video setting. You only have audio sliders and language sellection.
It works on linux but I had weird frame drops and texture stutters

- The environment is spectacular. When I was walking down a road and realized my "little" spider fella was as tall as a street lamp, the sheer monumental scale of everything really hit. I'll definitely be playing this again just to wander around and enjoy the sights. I wish the devs would make a "freeroam" mode which unlocks after you beat the chapter that lets you just wander around without getting fried by the sun. I want to walk around and vibe while listening to music or a livestream in the background.
- The inventory/interface is a little esoteric, but you'll get used to it. Personally, I quite liked it.
- The lore is a little sparse, but intriguing. I didn't really explore enough in this first playthrough, so I didn't discover much, but what I did discover makes me excited to see where this goes in the future.
Now, on the gameplay:
- Traversal requires a bit of thought, but is rather basic. In order to go from location to location, you have to avoid too much sun exposure, otherwise your lil fella will get fried. Due to the sheer size of everything, it's quite easy to avoid the sun, to the point it makes it rather trivial. There are a few hazards that feel underutilized, such as the tornado in the train repair area and the electrical anomalies in the power zone. If there were a few more of these other hazards scattered around the place, it would make traversing the exterior a bit more interesting.
- The puzzles are the perfect difficulty. If you enjoy games like myst, you'll feel right at home playing this game. They're tough, but they reward observation, exploration, and a good head on your shoulders. Due to this, solving them actually feels rewarding, rather than just tedious busywork.
- The time to complete the game is currently a little short as it only has the first chapter. I've managed to complete it in about 5h, and that's due to spending a fair amount of time exploring. If you lock in and just beeline from objective to objective, you'll probably manage to finish it in 4h.

Youre a little robot exploring sunblasted ruins, having to stick to the shadow to avoid being, well, blasted by the sun. Graphics are great, pixely and detailed at the same time. Music and sounds are sparse but doin their job. The environments and weird machines are pretty cool
Controls are ok. No rebinding so far and running isnt the default so prepare to hold shift alot. The robot climbs walls and such automatically and that makes it a little too sticky in some situations. Overall not a problem.
The biggest weakness of the game are in my opinion the "puzzles". Theres one which is pretty intuitive and simple but the others not much so.

Some people already might get frustrated with this tho. Then youre required to, without getting spoilery, for a solution to do settings stuff that really isnt explained. Could be figured out reasonably still, but another frustration possibility. The grand finale however is a on its face pretty understandable task but the instructions are wrapped in some sorta conversion thingie which i only begin to understand maybe now working backwards from the solution. Maybe you could figure it out, i dont know.

Unfortunately it has some memory issues that cause drops in FPS over a long playtime, though this can be "fixed" by setting the Player.log and Player-prev.log txt files in AppData>LocalLow>DefaultCompany>RADIOSOL to read only. Supposedly fixed the Memory issue! The other flaw of this game is that it is incredibly obtuse and vague, either on accident or on purpose. Providing very little guidance and the guidance that is provided isn't always clear.
However with that being said, I managed to relatively smoothly progress through the entire game until a very specific section involving a radio. If you know you know. Had to check in on the steam discussions only to see everyone also struggling through the same part, Thankfully someone managed to solve it, though I had to translate their response cause it was in Russian, and even then it still took me 30+ minutes of banging my head against it to get it working. That one section aside, it felt satisfying to work through the vague directions.
Seemingly this isn't the end of the story so I hope to see more to come from RADIOSOL.\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t

Getting over thin walls is a struggle, you seem to get glued to some low steps, the jumps are confusing and floaty and the game objectives, while cool that not explicit, in a map this size, are waaay too vague. I resorted to a walkthrough and even with that the game failed to recognize my level 3 access even though I had done every step, so I couldn't finish it. The world is cool, the designs are cool, I do like the concept and what you could do with it, but in the end it just felt disappointing.\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t

I’ve just finished RADIOSOL, a short, atmospheric puzzle-solving adventure, and I’m fairly mixed on it overall. There’s a lot here that I really like: the concept, art style, atmosphere and overall narrative are all very appealing, but unfortunately a few issues hold the game back from being as enjoyable as it could be.
The first major issue I encountered was the English translation. The game appears to have originally been written in Russian, and while I obviously can’t comment on the original writing, some of the English dialogue feels misused or awkwardly translated. There were several moments where I had to stop and think about what a character was actually trying to say because the wording simply didn’t make much sense.
The second issue is the vagueness of what you’re actually supposed to do. To an extent, I actually like this. The puzzles require you to pay attention to everything your helping-hand tells you, and the game doesn't simply throw objectives and waypoints at you. However, there are times when this becomes more frustrating than rewarding.
One particular section had me spending a very long time looking for a semi-hidden opening to an area, despite the relevant clue being in a completely different location, near a building that is only mentioned once. You’re also told to keep an eye on temperature changes, which brings me to another major problem: bugs and visual glitches.
After leaving the main tutorial area, I encountered several issues. Looking at certain angles — which is particularly important in a game that relies on a constantly moving point of view — can cause background buildings to completely disappear. This is especially problematic because some of those buildings are actually places you can visit. Even worse, the entire HUD can disappear at the same time.
That matters because the temperature readings I mentioned earlier are displayed on the HUD. If the HUD disappears because of this bug, you can potentially miss information that the game expects you to be paying attention to.
There are also texture-fighting issues with some of the fences around the tracks. This isn't just visual either; in some cases, the issue can actually prevent you from climbing over the fence.
I understand that RADIOSOL is a very new game, and small bugs are to be expected with a fresh release. However, these particular issues are significant enough that I feel they need mentioning. Some of them genuinely feel like they could have been discovered with less than ten minutes of general bug testing before release.
The puzzles themselves are extremely vague, but again, this is something I don't necessarily dislike. I enjoy having to piece together information and pay attention to what the helping-hand says rather than being given a giant list of objectives. The problem is that occasionally you'll find yourself wandering around one area looking for something that is actually located on the other side of the map, with very little indication that you've even been looking in the wrong place.
There was also one particularly funny — and potentially deadly — moment where I was actively trying to avoid the sunlight and burning to death, only for the helping-hand to pop up a message in the middle of it. She very nearly got me killed. I'd definitely like to see the timing of these messages adjusted in a future update so that important environmental hazards take priority.
Despite all of these criticisms, I really like the visual identity of RADIOSOL. The game uses a mostly single, orangey-desolate colour palette that works extremely well with its atmosphere. It gives everything that feeling of being abandoned for a very long time, which fits the game's overall setting and narrative incredibly well. Combined with the retro-style pixel graphics, it creates a very distinctive look.
Overall, I think RADIOSOL has a genuinely interesting concept and a really strong atmosphere. I enjoyed the process of figuring out what the game wanted from me, and I think the deliberately vague approach to its puzzles can work very well. Unfortunately, the translation issues, visual bugs, and occasional lack of clarity make the experience more frustrating than it needs to be.
